    I like how you always start with the word "So" 😂. Excellent update.

    I brought a porch on E Bay for £100 and all it needed was a good clean and I had to make it taller so like you I made a wooden section and covered that in fascia board. Result. Thanks for your videos, always a joy to watch.

      Just a note,it's soffit that was used not facia board,facia board is good to use in internal window sills,for diy it's a good job just you got the name of the materials wrong

    I wish I could do half of what you are able to do, this looks amazing! I absolutely love watching your videos. I cannot wait to see what you do with the corridor section. The dog is so adorable!

      Lol, thank you. It helps when my Dad is directing and knows how things are done. I'm there to learn and me and my husband can try our best to do most of the work :)

    Nice video! And I like your attention to the details. I had to replace parts of the metal railings on my front steps this weekend. Be thankful I'm not building bridges or airplanes. But the way I look at it, no one will notice if they're driving by fast enough. And gotta love that Hans.

      Yes, things only need to be as good as you want them to be. And if it serves a purpose and works then 👌

    Hiya Vikkie that's another great video with so many good tips, i had to keep pausing it to write notes down : ) those Spax screw's are a game changer and will be giving them a try.
    The porch looks a treat and will make life so much easier.
    All the best.

    Surprising how a relatively cheap and east "Add on" can make the house more desirable (and increase its worth)!

    So on the drain, if there was a blockage would any pressure not push the blocks up or flood from underneath with the drain not being sealed?

    Hi im in the middle of doing a shelter over my patio doors and found its much easier to slide the rubber gasket in then push them in for anyone thats thinking of making one in the future.

    Good to see you can still get the 'Old Plasterers Hop-ups' in your area ....... You can't beat 'em :-) ................
    Getting scarce now though, they might become an endangered species soon :-( ..........
    Good to see the job turned out Fine ..............

    Hi there - is there a video of the actual timber porch installation? I am planning to do that and wondered if I could watch your video before starting

  • @deanoh6414
    @deanoh6414 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wait, so the corner pole is free standing ? That's a long distance on the fixed panel side and to be carrying the door weight on the other isnt it ? Also those SPAX screws... might be quicker but for the security of a plug not woring loose they would be my preferred option.

    • @russellball1984

      Valid point but nothing wrong with spax screws

    I'm going to fit a UPVC door and window into my garage soon instead of the leaky rotten wooden doors it has now so thanks.

      The Carpenter's Daughter bit worried about how to clad up the gap’s after, got to think it through first so that everything ends up at the right level

    Just wondering why you build a porch under a carport when the carport already protects your door

    • @TheCarpentersDaughterUK
      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This way, no one feels they have to step outside to go into the utility room (the old garage). It's warmer in there and the door can be locked all the time for added privacy.

    • @sabretooth1961
      @sabretooth1961 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry it wasn’t a criticism just wondering but you’re reply cleared that up for me thanks I’ve watched many of your videos and always enjoyed them 👍

    • @TheCarpentersDaughterUK
      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's ok, I didn't see it as criticism :)

  • @jblondon1327
    @jblondon1327 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    No, no, no. I'm not builder but it seems just wrong to attach the upvc frame to block paving. Block paving is loose on the ground as you well know.
    Sorry, I like many of your projects but this is cowboy stuff

    • @TheCarpentersDaughterUK
      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I take your point if it was a room that would be sat in, for example you wouldn't do a conservatory like this.. in which I would say cowboy. But it's merely a bit shelter to tie two rooms together with an extra door to wash bikes with a drain. Also, the pavers are going nowhere and it's fixed securely at the top.

      @@TheCarpentersDaughterUK I would have liked to have seen some dampy(dpc) on the decking boards and where timber meets masonary

  • @hansc8433

    That looks like a nice little extension. It’s a shame you used white PVC though. I don’t understand the love most Brits have for this ghastly material. I think I would’ve used wood/timber instead. But other than that, great job.

    • @TheCarpentersDaughterUK
      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for your honesty. It's one less thing to worry about treating and painting regularly, other than cleaning 😂

      @@TheCarpentersDaughterUK Definitely , I was against Upvc for a long time but the dreaded repairing , replacing rotting timber and painting of windows and doors finally got to me and I succumbed and never looked back. Apart from cleaning and maybe redoing silicon sealing when needed , after 5 years all's well .

    • @TheCarpentersDaughterUK
      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1
