Attended Rannoch, early eighties. From home in one of the largest cities in West Africa to one of the most remote boarding schools in the UK. But there, life finally clicked. Went from being an academic underachiever to straight A’s at O’ levels and Highers. Messed up my A levels a bit, but I only needed C’s for a University place to read Civil Engineering. Have great memories of all the extra-curricular activities. Summer and winter sports, countless hours sailing on Loch Rannoch and even more countless weekends hiking the surrounding hills in all kinds of weather. And then there were the crazy school traditions - 40 miler, 60 miler, Buachaille dash, Schiehallion Hill race etc.
I recognise that everyone has different memories of school. I feel hugely privileged to have been able to spend some of my formative years in such a challenging and yet engaging place. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Gives me goose pimples just thinking about it. Shame it didn’t appeal to enough people and had to close.

My late ex husband went there. He hated it. Imagine, age 7 being packed off and then to be badly bullied. His only escape was to run in the wilds. The damage done never really left him.

When I was at Boarding School a young Boy was molested regularly by the Head Boy. I was a Prefect and when I reported it to the Housemaster he said it was all part of life's rich pattern. My own Parents didn't want to know.

Not all boarding schools are bad. I went to an all-girls boarding school from age 11 to age 18 and I loved it! Made some life long friends who I still talk to now (I'm 30) and the teachers and housemasters were wonderful! It's a time that I'll remember til my dying day as the best times of my life.

I was interned there in the 1970s'. Yes, there was bullying but that was the norm in boarding schools of that decade. This film gave me the impression that the school was being run by amateurs, the marketing director and the bursar in particular. No wonder it went belly up!

I don't understand how these teachers and governors think that the banks have a duty to take a chance on them and maybe lose money. There are plenty of people who can't get an account or an overdraft these days because of their straitened circumstances. Why should a school for wealthy, middle class parents be any different? Maybe they should cut their cloth according to their means and drop some of those "healthy outdoor activities". After all the state schools mostly can't afford to offer them. It's times like this that the private school sector is revealed for what it really is - a profit making business.

Ultimately she did not succeed, but I was there in the school’s final year, she cared deeply about the school’s survival and made a dammed good go at it. She actually contributed far more to the school than this short documentary reveals, a real gem of a lady. (I’m the guy (boy) riding the suitcase down a hill).

Wow I'd love to have my daughter going here, do they open these schools to American kids? Hell I would've loved to have gone here as a child. I wonder if they were taking advantage of the schools beautiful location and proximity to wonderful field trip opportunities and sport. The school needed more refined uniforms and dressing code. The more elite you make something look the more people will want it. You have to spend money to make it and the school needed everything they weren't doing. Putting a lot into athletics possibly, recruiting some shining athletes to get interest in the school from a sporting aspect could've helped. Gosh they needed some sort of interest point other than desperation. Could they have made it available to people who never would've perceived this as an affordable option possibly the down payment and then easier to handle payments. Did they offer some sort of multi child household discount? The school looked like an unorganized mess to be honest but it had so much going for it.
