I find it calming watching you return a once beautiful car back to it's former glory. Seeing things done right with such care and attention to detail shows a level of respect that's far from typical. I would have loved to restore a jewel like this but, being sort of old and having two restoration projects already facing me means this your videos are likely to be as close as I ever will get. Thank you for taking us along on the trip!
thank you for posting these amazing videos, I am half way through my 59 xk150 restoration, my first british car and your videos have really made it as simple as can be. All the high def shots have helped me know where things go. I only wish i could find a xk150 explored! closest i could find was 2400 on ebay right now, funny to see posts from a decade ago on the jag forums complaining at the 200 dollar price lol. Youre a great value to the jag community thanks!
Richard M , I've been following since you refurbished your "junkyard" engine for your own E Type. At the time, I thought, this guy is a young unexperienced guy being trained by his dad, since you referred to him as you worked hard on it. Was I ever wrong ! You're doing a very professional and obviously experienced job on this jewel of a car ! Plus I love your no nonsense vids on what is being done on it. Thanks Richard Michael for taking us all along ! 👍
Hello Richard! Masters don't fall from the sky. They are born on earth. You are one of them. Without you these beautiful cars would not exist anymore. Best regards from Hans from Upper Austria. 🇦🇹 Cheers 🍻
Perfect! Nothing else to say! Speachless :D as an italian i'm agree on the "pre war italian car style". I love it too. They are my preferite car in the world like Isotta Fraschini 8A, Alfa Romeo and Lancia. Also bugatti
When installing the heat/sound-deadening sticky back material I would not cut the openings for the pedals, and other stuff, but rather cut the openings with a knife after the material is installed. And you did a real nice job on the motor and windscreen. Color me jealous.
Hey Richard and Dad, (I can’t describe the emotions that run through me due to the absolute beauty of this car) …- I’m lucky to live fairly near to the Beaulieu motor museum over here in the UK and I often see some wonderful 120 and 150 Jaguars at various times. You and your Dad are totally beyond the highest praise with the skill and dedication that you show. Thank you 🙏
Very sharp car and beautiful work. It will be a gem. I hope it gets driven and enjoyed. Fabulous looking and can't wait to hear it run and drive. Great video and channel.
Car is coming along very nicely! Excellent work as always. Those electric assist power steering are a great idea. I’ve been looking at one for my 68 Chrysler Ute. So neat. 🇦🇺🍺🍺
Looking very beautiful that old lady. Richard, you are indeed a master of your craft. I hope the Tremec box works out ok, looking a bit close up to the exhaust, it might be more practical but it won't have the character of the old Moss box. Thank you for the update.
Despite the fact that I have been following this build series this episode was not in my list of suggested videos but a whole lot of trash I am not interested in was. Anyhow the car is looking beautiful, it is always a pleasure to see your work.
Enjoy your detailed experience with the component connections. Robust and delicate intricate components. Each is a piece of art. Beautiful presentation and skill, nice work
It looks like everything I was going to say has already been said. Absolutely stunning workmanship & I think it goes without saying, the owner is going to be thrilled. Regards from the U.K. 🇨🇦🇬🇧
For removing the labels off the exhaust ZEP citrus orange degreaser works great for removing the adhesive. I like the moss box overdrive in my Mk2 works well with the 3.54 rear gears. Great progress! Cheers 🍻
Wait a minute Richard DO I SEE A NEW WIRING HARNESS :)) Got to say I really love your attention to detail and little 'mods' like the washers on the exhaust manifold.
Just beautiful Richard. Amazing work. I use WD40 or CRC lubricant to remove all pesky stickers and labels. Spray on light coat, leave for 2-3 mins and they peel off real easy... works great ! Cheers.
Great job, these Pirelli tyres brought back memories good cornering but poor at shifting water front to back. Not good in a wet climate but you are not going to get this Jag wet!
An outstanding restoration Richard. Thank you for the tour. Just a suggestion with regard to the paper labels on the Bells exhausts. Have you tried covering them with a soaked cloth, so that they absorb the water, before attempting to scrape them off? Best wishes. Stan
Yet another great episode Richard, thx very much. The car's coming together nicely 👏👏. Do you burn all these segments on to a DVD/BD for the owner when you're finished? Would be an awesome bonus for him/her (well I'd think it was an awesome bonus if it was my car 😊). Really looking forward to the next one!
Really lovin it !!!!!. Superb job and great video . Not sure you have sufficient clearance on the exhaust pipe just fitted. You will soon know when on the road. Superb rebuild and video. Well done.
The clearance of the Tremec on the upper right towards the tunnel looks pretty tight...(12:51). If the customer wants a silent car that might be a pot to look closer at.
Is it possible to do it from the top with the Tremec? Seems like if you put it up a foot or two it would maybe slide in easier? Doing an XK120 FHC, your videos have been a great guide and inspiration.
Richard didn't mention it, but new steering wheel looks to be same diameter as original. Would've thought installing power steering unit would be perfect opportunity to scale down wheel an inch, or two for more leg room.
Great job ! Always a pleasure to follow your work on jaguar cars ! Can you please tell me what is the name of your book in the video (4:30) ? Thank you very much !
Try this trick next time, been using it in my hobby for 50 years. Take a heat gun and heat up the sticker. It softens the glue and the sticker will come right off.
Absolutely gorgeous! But why implant a 5-speed...why not a 6-speed. I put a Tremec 6-speed into my 1992 XJS V12 with glorious results (done by Keisler Motors in Tennesee).
does the xk150 explored boot have body references like dimensions and measurements? that would be EXTREMELY helpful here lol, im dealing with a pretty beat up front end on a 150
Thanks for the entertaining and informative vids Richard. I note that on the 3.4 engine you worked on earlier (Feb 2021 vid) you used two lifting tabs using just one head bolt each. For this car you have used two lifting tabs that use two head bolts each. Is the later version preferred for these engines?
Fantastic! I actually prefer the 120, 140 and 150 to the E-Type. In England there was a very politically incorrect name for the E-Type in the 1960s, and I will not bless your lovely channel with that bit of horrible history! I am full of anticipation to see this lovely old girl drive! I do prefer your vids on restoration rather than looking at car shows, but that is because I can see how these old cars were designed and built from the inside. The lovely bodywork means less to me than details of suspension and chassis, and even details like how the windscreen fits. Thanks for your lovely channel. I'll never own such nice cars, but I like to learn about them. I saw an original 150 on Clayter Bank [Bromyard, Herefordshire, UK] a fortnight ago making a glorious roar. Also white, doing about fifty on a one in four! I was on my Carlton Kermesse road bike, which was of equal quality to the Jaguars, but better mpg! And not prone to rust!!!! Best wishes from George PS: I have a Toyota Aygo! It has rust!!!!!!!
Oh sorry I was thinking E-Type front headlights, so for the XK150 front windshield trim yes the strips sit in the rubber without glue, it is fine to use a urethane seam sealer to hold them down too.
Hi Richard, why not make it electric instead? You'll have way less difficulty to fit an Arcimoto engine in this beauty. I maybe off your passion a little, but just wanted to see your thoughts
@@RichardMichaelOwen I found an exact one that needs some TLC for $78k and I am seriously considering an electric motor. However, not sure of the cost. It's only a thought at this point.

Unbelievable engine colour. Rather eccentric but it is a British car. I love irony.. a real beauty.

She's looking beautiful, Richard! Fantastic job.
Outstanding episode! I've missed this beauty.
WOW Richard; great work !!!
Thanks for a great video Beautiful Restoration, Breathtaking.. Regards Barry
That under look at the boot and spare tire compartment is beautiful .
To use your words Rich "Its a thing of beauty" great progress and boy what a finish. Just love your videos Cheers from OZ.

Also called Duck Egg Blue, as used in the Royal Navy on anything electrical.

Looking wonderful Richard..... Would love to test drive it for you.... So if you can bring it to the UK for me.... :-))))
Good to see the progress video after a while....it's coming all together rather nicely.
Loving the duck egg green.

Glass is in, running gear is in and the chrome is almost done. Next week driving it?🤣 The car is looking real nice. 2x👍
Better than new. I'd love to drive it.
$$$$$$$$$ and knowledge!!
Not sure about the labels on the Bell exhaust, but I use a hairdryer to heat up the glue on the back of labels. The label then peels off like magic!
I have been waiting for the next one!!

Enjoying the build but episode 11 is missing from the playlist.

Thanks Justin great to have you along
Really lovin it !!!!!. Superb job and great video . Not sure you have sufficient clearance on the exhaust pipe just fitted. You will soon know when on the road.
Superb rebuild and video. Well done.
When on the road the axle will be pushed up into the chassis with the weight of the car.
Wave a heat gun over the paper labels and they should peel right off. Quick wipe with brake cleaner to shine it up.
Amazing 👍🏻❤️
Mufflers should be tilted down on one end with a way for water to escape. IE small hole or direct path for water to flow out the exhaust pipe.
So it appears the student had become the master , yes it does ...
What gem

To the exhaust?

You've got Würth equipment all around - get a can of Sticker-Ex to get rid of those paper stickers in no time

Hopefully first shown at the Amelia Island Concours d'elegance

great job. looks abs fab. One question shouldn't the chrome stripes around the front glass sit without gluing? In my e type they are snug in.
No glue, but some use a product called strip caulk to stop water ingress
