I'm proud to have serviced these cars when they were new, before 60 years of wear and neglect took place. Even adjusting the 300SL idle mixture by changing the tiny air jet as shown here. I still have those jets in my tool box 😂👍🇺🇲 it was a great career. Greenwich, Connecticut.🇺🇲
Thank You for having brought tears to my eyes, but enlightened me up to my soul. My Father owned a 190SL and a 230SL. My Mother, who passed this year, owned a 230SL and a 280 SL. She refused the special offer Stuttgart prepared for her for a 350SL, she thought to not emough respect the original 'Classicist' design that emblazoned the stylishness and uniqueness Mercedes Benz established within a market where only them and Sir William Lyons, remained innovators, but also vestals, from all other makers who edged down from the guiding principles of quality. My absolute wish is to be destined to own either a 230, 250 or 280Sl, for the remainder of my life. Only my astuteness, my fervor and my fate will be essential to accomplish that. My viewing of this marvelous documentary, for which I thank you from the bottom heart, happened on the evening of my 68th birthday, which year, if my memory serves me well, coincides with 1968 is in my heart a wonderful coincidence, with my Mother signing a purchase order for a 280 SL. Thank You!
Watching the restorations at Barbus raises the hair on my arms in joy and brings a big smile to my face - absolute ‘PERFECTION’ at its BEST! Thank you - and God bless to ALL of you at Barbus for caring so much in restoring our Mercedes Benz’. I now look at my ‘91 500 SL in a more appreciative different light…
Just amazing work and attitude, the quality of Mercedes Benz products of the past were a reflection of the attitude and mindset of engineers of that era.Never to be repeated
Such an amazing documentary this was. I wish it was 150 minutes instead of 50. I can't tell how much I appreciate the work done by these mechanics, techniciansand engineers❤❤
Amazing, but without a doubt in my mind, expected restauration that could only be performed by these German experts.... Such a dedication and passion and believe in their fantastic products. Really with the most respect... unglaublich !!!
Professional team, the best restoration company I have ever seen. I wish I could visit them. Being a mercedes benz owner I appreciate every bit of this incredible experience.
that's a 1958 Mercedes Benz 300 SL (W198) 2.9 I6 2-Dr Sports Coupe (LHD) . . . quite a world class restoration job . . . the one in white is a 1969 Mercedes Benz 280SL (W113) 2.7 I6 2-Dr Roadster (LHD) . . . a true classic & torch bearer of the finest of German automotive industry . . .
The expertise and attention to detail is awe inspiring. To bring these beautiful cars back to and perhaps beyond their former glory is an amazing achievement. Fascinating documentary, well done!
I'm from Bottrop and always loved Brabus cars. When I moved to Australia in 2009 I put my Mercedes in my mother's garage where it has been sitting ever since. It's not an SL but one day I should ask Brabus to pick it up, restore it and send it to me :)
Damn, I thought Brabus only did modern tunes/builds?! I had no idea they did a restoration service. Absolutely beautiful work. I know where I’m going when I win the lottery. One new one, and one older restoration!
I enjoyed watching the classics being rebuild and restored to new I can appreciate the professional work the craftsmen do there at Brabus thank you all there
Back in the 80’s I worked for a Porsche dealer in Raleigh North Carolina. We got a 911 in that had been owned by Dallas actress Victoria Principal. Very nice and rare car. Celebrities buy cars for appearances all the time.
This is one of the Best Documentaries I have ever seen. I love this Car so much that i am going to look to get a 1969 280 pagoda. A huge thanks to the German Mechanics to showcase this car and full Restoration. Awesome work😀😀👍👍
the beast...December 2021 I've been there...wow my dream come true....the best of the best tuner...I love BRABUS ...thx for the hospitality from BRABUS at Bottrop...
Absolutely cutting edge work of art! Amazing restoration and upmost craftsmanship! I thought it would be at least €500,000 but it turned out to be a bargain at €300,000! This puts those backyard restorations to shame!
I'm speechless yet I can write the following: The super production and narration has me glued to the screen even trying to listen to the German spoken by the technicians! I've seen the video three times! The rotary fuel injection pump can still be serviced in Central and South America as these test benches for diesel injection pumps are still in use. The Master Mechanic Karl Heinz Koch reminds me of my late friend Ruddy Hoepcker who tended to my 1984 BMW 318i! What a treat!
Amazing, in more ways than one. I recall going through the ads of the National Geographic at the time. They hardly had a lot of ads, but the understated Mercedes would always feature the two door SL on a single page.
Hmmm... A few things that caught my attention (I'm sure others noticed it too): 1.) The technicians wear no safety glasses nor proper-for-the task gloves. 2.) The Brabus building rooftop has a major drainage issue (45:21). 3.) "High Quality Restauration." Restauration as in feeding or French words mixed with English? Neat production. Great outcomes.
i had a 67 280SL for 5 years but never took the hard top, the sun is so strong that it burns our heads and it´s still running today all original and restored some years ago(but always in good condition), a black one with dark brown leather seats
One day I hope my 1998 mercedesbenz gets the full restoration and still get the appreciation that I have for my baby I will always own her she the most beautiful girl in my eyes a diamond that will always sparkle
The real weakness of the older cars are that they’re rust buckets. If you could restore to that level then you could rhino line the whole underside of the structure up to the belt line of the vehicle. It would increase the weight significantly but the structure would last. Great Videos Thank You 🙏
Now this is the kind of car restoration videos I seek out. No silly shop drama or other nonsense. Professionals doing professional work. Bravo !
You do realise the price of this kind of work ?
Its easy when you have the money.

...mmm and now those tiny parts are worth a lot of $$$
Sincerely, I would be grateful for a family car contribution for my family.
Anyone else really want them to keep those chromes parts copper? Patina or not, that colour contrast against a pearl white body, would be *chef's kiss

Nothing is perfect, that includes a Benz.

It's illegal to change the odometer.
Them installing a brand new engine but using the old block to keep the serial number is fraud.

I would work at that restoration factory for just room and board. Pure art! The closer to perfection the closer to God.
That’s why for me Mercedes Benz is king of car!
The best and the only one ☝️ of the most beautiful car ever made!😊
Legends the Germans , this is the best restoration ever, brabus company is the best
This is just fantastic. An ultra high-end restoration on a beautiful vehicle. I could watch this all day.

7:09 Polish craftsmanship is the best. BTW that trans oil looks way to good for a barn find. Probably new oil for camera.

I can not imagine how much a professional expiration like this costs...
The pagode got a classic data note of 298000€ pretty equal to 300k US dollar ….
Thank you for bringing back to me fond memories of when I was in my 20s …. The 280sl and Alfa veloce were my roadsters and used daily…what a thrill.

These cars are absolutely stunning! Very beautiful!
Fit for a king. The masses will never own one. Just mass transportation for the peasants.

Great to get the same jute cushion a thing of the past
I cannot think of a better restorer for Mercedes cars. Amazing work! I suppose they come at a price, but then again, you get what you pay for.
damn.. trim pieces that are not plastic, but metal that are thinly chromed, so beautiful
Amazing work and attention to details, these guys are geniuses in their own field. Love the Quality !
