Absolutely, taste is subjective, this is just my opinion on the song, I realise some people will like it a lot more, and I'm sure some will dislike it more than me.
I think Lonely night is one of those tracks that was knocked up during the sessions for the Quo album, but for some reason it never felt finished properly. And I think your review was spot on. In fact if it was on the original sequence of the album I would be skipping it, but then we rarely skipped tunes in the days of vinyl, so I would have let it play out while making a brew. I had to listen to this before commenting and I think you gave it a pretty accurate review. It’s a decent song, but there’s definitely something odd about Rossi’s vocals.

Yes it is slightly more difficult to skip tunes on vinyl!

Yeah, there is just something about the vocals, they just seem a bit off, and quite different from everything else recorded at this time.
