She didn’t wanna hear that😂😂😂 she wanted to hear “oh they’ll forgive it forget about it for 10 years”
Total lack of integrity. Educated and self absorbed. I hope they garnish her wages.
3 years ago, I took out $6.5k in student loans & during my senior year, I have just paid them off entirely before I get my bachelor's. It's about the mentality to be debt free! ❤
1. There is no excuse to have taxpayers pay for YOUR personal education.
2. You'll make excuses year after year and never pay it, waiting for a "forgiveness" that will never come.
Which private school did you go to as a child?
@@siva47931 I didn't. And my opinion extends to all levels of education.
@@siva47931 the country has agreed to pay for 12 years of school for children. Anything beyond that is on you. Free rides eventually end. Get off the bus and walk happens at some point in life.
@siva47931 Problem is many people go into postsecondary education without a plan. They see this type of education will cost "80K" but "you won't have to pay for it until later" making the number not seem real. It's absolutely a trap, but it's also not anyone else's responsibility to bail them out if they went to school "just because" without any future plans of how they will be able to pay it off.
Why not? It's for the sake of the country! It means development for the country.
It’s sad to see that strangers over the internet and the radio have more of a belief in that person than the actual person themselves.
If it is almost impossible for you to pay off 93 thousand dollars, the time for you to be considering that is BEFORE you borrowed it. Don't borrow it and then say, "Oops. That's too much for me to pay back." The government (another way to say other people) should not have to pay YOUR bill. A lot of the rest of us borrowed money to go to school also. You know who paid it back? WE DID! You borrowed it. You legally owe it. PAY IT BACK.
96k/yr but wants the waitress waiting tables to pay off her student loan debt
I don’t know what is worse, she wants the average bus driver to pay off her debt or she can’t remember who was president 10 years ago
Why is this still even a question??
Peoples greed and stupidity are evergreen.
She Democratic
Because people operate on blind hope, not sense. It's the same reason people complain about inflation but then defend the purported 2% rate it's "supposed to be" when it's just made up to fool dumb people.
Yall are wild. PSLF was passed by Congress. That means dems and Republicans both signed up for this. Rather than bash ppl for believing what their government told them, how about asking why we are so comfortable with being lied to.
John: Who was the President ten years ago?
Caller: My educated brain can't do that.
Unreal. I swear today's college system is making our youth dumber.
I'll be getting drunk, buy shares of Jack Daniels people.
In all fairness, 10 years ago she was too young to vote and, like most kids, just didn't care.
@@BrianW211I can easily name every president of the last hundred years. (This feat was known by my young self when I was 6.)
@@JW-vl5or congrats, knowing that hasn't made you a cent richer.
They won't be forgiven. She borrowed the money. She can pay it back.
First she will vote for Kamala Harris and then find out she won't be getting paid off student loans. Then she will vote for her again.
John asked Selena, Is your freedom worth the sacrifice? Are you worth it? That is a real good question. Are you for worth fighting for? I'm now motivated to pay off the last $6700.00 of debt I have by the end of 2024. I had this goal for 5 years. The answer is yes you are worth the sacrifice to become debt free.
YOU *should* have read the conditions of the loan and understood the payback. If you DIDN'T then you weren't smart enough to go to college to start with. But... YOU signed for the loan funds, YOU went to school on them, YOU (presumably) graduated, YOU need to pay it back.
She's acting like she just found out that she owes 93 grand. Did not 93 grand sound like a large sum of money when she first took out the loans?
It accrued in interest
@@mhodge0890: When she applied for the loan she knew that there was an interest rate.
@@mhodge0890 87 to 93... WOOOWEEE...
My only regrets on student loans are ever taking them and spending some time not following this advice. You CAN do it! I’ve paid off 140,000 of SL in 5 years.
There is nothing better than being debt free. Savings start multiplying with little effort because of the discipline established while getting out of debt.
Wanting a free ride to make life easier by not paying her agreed promise to repay her loans. She was happy to get the money now not wanting to keep her part of the agreement. Maybe she's educated but she's lacking integrity and that is learned not taught.
Tons of people have paid off their loans not waiting for some kind of assistance or handout. Why do we want to help others out when we didn't get a hand out. Doesn't make sense why people are still not understanding that.
So true .
Govt promises are like quicksand running through the hourglass and it's not that she can't it's that she doesn't want to pay it off
I just finished a masters last month that costs 11k total at a state uni. Collectively i owed 23k. I now owe 16k as ive been using the avalanche method and got a second job. Im paying this off myself. She should too.
My husband was aghast at a $400 credit card bill I had when we met. He made me pay it off right away!
400 smackers
It’s hard, but you can do it! I paid off over 16k in students loans during college and cash flowed the final year.
I was making 15$ an hour and working 20-30 hours a week. Aka I was making 23k and living on my own. I had roommates, I went to food shelters, I did everything I could to get the government away from me. Best decision I ever made
Why are so many people wanting the government to do things for them?? No wonder the federal deficit is approaching $36 trillion!
The government does help pay off debt - if you join the military. Even the reserves and national guard has programs on the weekends.
Yeah, but then you essentially put chains on your body and become government property.
@@geigertec5921 Temporarily. It's not for everyone but but it's nice to be totally debt free after 3-4 years.
This, we sacrificed for it so why should these clowns get it for free
Girl you can do it as they would say you have a medium shovel and a medium sized hole the math works and you can do it just put your head down get fired up tell yourself you're not going to have a life for one year work as hard as you can put every spare set on your debt and you'll look up next year and be amazed at how much you get paid off
The way I thought about student loans what that I would never escape them even if I filed for bankruptcy, I paid them all off years ago.
You took out a loan, now fricking pay it back!
Perhaps the commenters do not understand capitalized interest! It is possible for a student to pay three times the amount borrowed because of the interest. While I am not waiting on forgiveness. It has taken years for the balance to reach a point where I can see light at the end of the tunnel.
Learn how your loans are structured and develop a plan for paying them off.
This is can be a complicated question. There is the simple way to look at it and just pay it off. This always works. On the other hand it depends on how far you are away from your goal and how many “payments the government counts.” This question relates to PSLF which there has been changes and many more payments are counting now than before. PSLF is not general forgiveness, but it is supposed to be a commitment the Government should be making to its workers which includes many jobs in the public sector.
I went to art school. $128k total, including loans. I paid it off by 32. In 8 months when I got serious. Now I'm 35 and I own two houses.
How did you cough up 128k in 8 months? That is a large sum of money....🎉😢
@@corinth1121 balance was not 128k by the time I got sober
Sure you did. 😂
Why would you drop 128 on Art school? Smfh
Small term sacrifice for large term gains it's really worth it
I payed off my student loans years ago. I could and would not wait, to see if my loan was going to be forgiven. I just made my payments without any expectation of forgiveness. You can’t rely on fake promises.
Somewhere in the United States must be a person who borrowed money to go to school, worked for 10 years in a qualifying government job and followed all the multiple and changing rules. Somebody somewhere got their loans paid off in that manner. The problem is, that person is nowhere to be found. That is the story of my friends
My loans were forgiven along with several others that I know
Caller: I make 96k in D.C!
Show: Fantastic!
Reality: With your built up debt and likely hitting brunch in D.C. you are not going to move the needle beyond breaking even.
lol DC brunch is everything
@@blankcultureDC brunch s'ks cat piss. 😅 I've wasted my $ too many times at it and all the classic joints closed down. D.C. food is an overpriced scam.
@@blankculture Yea, because your parents pay for it. 😅
@@JustinCase780 It always taste better when someone else pays for it.
Brunch!? Skip the brunch until your responsibilities are met. It is called being a freaking adult.
$96k in DC isn’t a lot of money BUT if she’s single w/ no kids she can definitely make it work
I think what surprises me more is that people have blinders on when they are using these loans during school, then bamm how do I pay this back? Duh?
Okay, but who doesn’t know that Obama was our president 10 years ago……..
Nothing is forgiven. You will charged the same amount of your loan just on interest. The government always collects their part.
she made an agreement when she took out the loan and totally enjoyed getting the money. Now she's sour apples when the lollipop is gone and she's left with just the stick. Keep the agreements made, pay I back. Garnish her wages.
You took it out it was a lot of money then too
The government is not going to forgive your 93k loan. I plan on starting to pay off my 35k student loan end of the year
Government Loan Forgiveness Programs Indian Health Service (IHS) Loan Repayment Program - The IHS Loan Repayment Program awards up to $40,000 for repayment of student loans in exchange for a two-year commitment to practice in health facilities serving American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
If the government was going to forgive student loan debt it would've happened already. Act accordingly.
If you borrowed 93k and still don’t make enough to pay that off you fucked up somewhere lol
The amount of times this question has been answered 😨
How don’t u not know it’s Obama
She had other things on her mind when she was 20?
@@sweetbean9218You think she’d remember because in theory 2012 was the first election she would have voted in. I still remember that one very clearly cause it was my first too.
Just like I still hear stories from my mom about voting in her first election while in college at the dorms. My mom still remembers she voted for Bush.
Girl, if I can say anything, believe the public policy. It's for you!
Keep the agreements made, she was happy to get the loan money but now feels entitled like it was a birthday present. She lacks integrity.
If a public policy makes itself not feasible, it lacks integrity.
This is one of the best gifts you can give your future husband. To show you have financial discipline and also wont drop yall total net worth by 100k lol
Yeah good luck with that
We need to know how much her rent is lol she’s in DC
She still needs to realize, even if her student loans are forgiven, she would still owe state income tax on the amount. In CA, where I live, that would be alot. Everything's not free. There's always a catch.
That's only a few vindictive states and is frankly weird.
@JudePi-jx7yo Totally agree w/you. I don't see how money used for tuition and books suddenly is considered income. I just know for me the tax bill would probably be thousands. If someone 's having trouble making the monthly loan payment, where in hell would they get thousands to make a tax payment.
a
@@elizabethpoley6882 @elizabethpoley6882 I mean the highest state tax level would be 13% so get a loan for that and you are still well ahead.
$93K student loan debt is peanuts compared to the $35T US national debt!!!
In ten years? not trusting our government will be the least of our worries.
Only $93,000 in student loan debt? Lucky.
It's like winning🎉only about 100k in the hole .......🔥
I know right? most of these callers have $300k+
Well the Gov paid all the financial institutions billions of dollars in 2008 so they wouldn’t go under. Why? They made bad financial moves and the taxpayers bailed them out. And what did they do with the money? Give themselves huge bonuses and stock buy backs. Yet I doubt any of you clowns were this passionate about telling those CEOs “you borrowed the money pay it back”
Yes, libs LOVE to point this out, only proving that they have no understanding of the average conservative’s point of view (spoiler: we are against big business bailouts as well)
Ok. How long will it take for you to wake up? Nothing is for free. You got yourself into this debt, now get yourself out of it. The world is not responsible to pay for your debt!
You signed the loan you pay them deadbeat. No different than any other type of loan.
nah. I'd just wait until I get forgiveness. Meanwhile, I'll keep spending spending and spending. YOLO.
I think Selena is on the path to being debt free! Im so impressed that she's starting this journey at only 30 years old. She'll get it done!
She's setting up at the government trough and will sit and feed there her entire life.

I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of
information can be a big hurdle. I've been

Newsflash: this caller is not going to pay this debt off in two years, or three years. Five years is a more realistic amortization schedule. She lives in one of the highest rent areas in the country. Ramsey folks ALWAYS forget about taxes, rent, utilities, groceries, insurance, ad infinitum when they begin their "muh baybee steps" spiel.
Because if you don't get six jobs you're not trying hard enough.

She would feel safer if the student loans were forgiven.
@ $96k and having $102k she doesnt think she can live on $56k and pay $40k a year to debt and be done in less than 3 years!!!! lol lol. Poor thing. Oh and the CLASSIC "I cant afford my bills" while walking around with a $800 phone SMH
