      @thehuguenot5615 my friends partner kept telling her he would kill us (her friends) and her family if she said anything and he abused her so bad she believed him. We finally managed to get her out on "holiday" to see her family, obviously she never came back, she had so many unhealed broken bones and when she told us the details of what he did to her is sounded more like torture. He broke her mind too. If you met him you wouldn't tell, he was a popular chef, tons of friends, everyone loved him. We only realised because she changed, bruises appeared and every story of where they came from was more unbelievable than the other.

    • @michaelboyle1983
      @michaelboyle1983 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @thehuguenot5615 the last I heard the average response time for a 911 call was 6 minutes. A man can beat a woman or child to death in 6 minutes and that's using their hands. They can shoot a woman and child in less than a minute.
      So let's say he beats her, the child, or both. The police arrest him and he gets out of jail in a year, or less, he's very mad at her now and does it again but worse this time.
      This stuff happens more than you think. The police are not very much help in a situation like this without the woman being able to move, get a different vehicle, and change jobs so she can't be found when he gets out of jail.
      God bless you!

    I like how dave immediately recommended going to her father for help.
    too often in our current culture we act like it isn't our families place to help protect us. but it is. A father has the right, and reponsibility to protect his daughter, and a brothers job is to protect his sister.
    Also the fact that he wouldn't take no for an answer, and got her help even though she didn't want it is commendable.

      That was awesome cause it was obvious he tried to rationalize the situation for her to realize their financial distress based on her bf not working enough with that low salary AND HER NOT WORKING IS CAUSING THE ANXIETY 😅 It was kinda painful to watch how he didn't want to comenoff as devaluing her mental health issues to the point of not even being able to call out the elephant in the room. Like yes anxiety is real but you need to tackle the source and it won't be nice to break a cicle but such steps are needed.

    12:25 I've been with my husband for over 16 years. He's never been physically abusive, but Dave described his level of control over the money as toxic. He will always make me feel like I'm some out of control wife because I will sometimes buy one item instead of another (to save money for instance, or to try and make room for a little candy bar) without discussing it with him first. He will go bonkers and say he can never trust me. It's gotten really bad. I have long been in high anxiety if I ever get to go shopping for something. I mean there's having respect and consideration when making financial decisions, sure, but.... when you're a grown woman being treated like a child that can't be trusted or given any amount of grace for misunderstandings, then yeah, it's safe to say that amount of control is toxic. Most definitely.

    • @matthewwiegert6999
      @matthewwiegert6999 ปีที่แล้ว +29

    I’m worried about when he gets out of jail. It seems they are letting so many out of jail & she won’t be safe.

    Listening to his advice to the gentleman who is heavily in debt. I always wondered how in the heck people make money on rental properties. Everyone I know has had horrible deadbeat tenants, despite their due diligence in vetting them before hand. So many have absolutely vandalized the properties. One set a house on fire when she was being evicted after non-payment of rent for SIX MONTHS. How the heck does someone make REAL money on a rental?

    To be honest,
    My parents retired off of mutual funds and they were extremely upset not investing in index funds. The fees killed their wealth. I love dave, and i am a baby step millionaire but i have to be honest about the mutual fund situation my parents went through.

      Same. With all the research I've done I'm going to be doing index funds once my debt is paid off.

      I knew a guy who's boss left him almost exactly what this lady got, I think 1.3. He worked as a maintence man at a hotel for the man for 20 years. When he died he left him the 1.3. Unfortunately he was flat broke in less than two years. It was heartbreaking to see it happening and even more now. He simply did not know how to say no and spent like a mad man on everyone he knew. I feel awful for him because even before the money, he was a kind man

    I have the same issue with dippresion and anxiety. I am taking medications but still having days when I can't work and drive. I also I noticed that I can't handle stress so easily anymore.

      I've read that sunshine, exercise, healthy diet will all do more than meds typically will. Good luck.
