I met him in Bloomington several times. Also in a bar in Washington, Indiana. He's the cigarette-smokingest-mother-fucker I've ever met in my life. But he's really cool and enormously talented. I do have to say he's always stuck to his roots and he's proud of them. We all love him in Indiana.......

He has been one of my favourite artists since Being young at bush parties seeing him in concert to growing older and just wanting to listen to his music, I will always be a fan of his music and of him personally 🤗

I lived in Seymour for a time. Not far from the street he grew- up, Fox St. In fact, I had to walk my daughter to catch her bus to Fox St. Then, when, she came home, I had to walk back up there when, it was time for the bus to bring her back. Never got to see him when, I was living there. But, when, I was getting ready to move, they were wondering on making a museum in honor of him. My step brother and sister in-law lived in Columbus, IN and at the time they lived in a trailer court, not too far down they said, lived his grandmother.

seen john four times his concerts are fantastic and when him and his band plays minutes to memories has to be the best lyrics with the best rockin sound you could ever hear!! my wife and son are at the wisconsin state fair watching him tonight! to bad im still working ! rather be rockin with john and his band!!
I found a version on TH-cam from 2004 where he attacks the high part of the bridge like on the record! Which he never did live even in the 80s. Search "Minutes To Memories Live By Request", it's phenomenal given he's 53.

I think he deserves some credit for coming up with that ensemble blending fiddle and accordion into a rock format. The band I saw him play with on the "Whenever We Wanted" tour had about the greatest breadth and depth of anything I have ever seen. ARCO arena Sacramento, the most multi-generational crowd I had seen at a show up to that point (and REALLY well-behaved too) he had the crowd singing along after the opening cut (Love and Happiness was towering thunder) he did all his "greatest hits" right away (except for Pink Houses the closer then) and had them crying too. WOW.

As a life insurance underwriter, John will die between the age of 68 and 73. Previous heart attack and chain smoker since age 10. He will get cancer, probably lung cancer. You can hear his lungs are dyeing when he laughs.

@@rubnsracn I love John and enjoy his music, it statistically true that his lifestyle is deadly. I wish him a long life, but it is impossible. 99% chance that he will get cancer. BTW, no one wants him to sing like louis Armstrong. He admitted that he does not like music in other interviews...He is just a disappointment to be chain smoking , all his kids...etc family, etc...he only cares himself. Plus his politics are very strange and anti American, that is a fact. he admits that he hates playing small Town...listen to his recent Sammy Hagar interview. Even Sammy could not get him to be happy. He is miserable.

Talking about how short life is and mean while smoking for decades. I was stupid enough to smoke for quite a long time also. I can't imagine. I wish he weren't prematurely aging himself and setting himself up for the tragedy. Long-time John Cougar fan!

it was revealed recently that petty died from over medication. prescription drugs are the leading cause of unnatural death.

I remember running into him Christmas shopping at the mall in Bloomington in 1983 and being shocked at how short he is and how his wife at that time must have been 6 inches taller than him. And she was probably only 5 foot 8. The guy apparently started smoking at age 4 and stunted his growth permanently.
John needs to do another Farm Aid Concert in 2019.
I do like him and his music. Saw JM 2 times over the years one of the songs I like best is Justice and Independence saw them play that 1985 outrageous great.
Someone tell him we hear your words. I saw you at the Milwaukee Fest early to mid-2000's you said that you heard we were mad at you because you never talked to us in concerts that cool Wisconsin night you talked your ass off and we loved it.

I'm a lyrical person and I listen to the lyrics and not just the music. I have always liked John since I first heard and saw the video for 'Ain't Even Done With The Night'.
The man had a lot of interracial couples in his videos and fought for equality. They only thing I would say to him is: quit freaking smoking! :)
