Tata punch Summary
The Tata Punch has been updated with new features, including a larger touchscreen and a wireless phone charger. Tata has also rejigged the lineup of the micro SUV, and has given it some new mid-spec variants.
The Punch is available in 25 variants starting with the Pure moving on to the Pure Rhythm, Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, Accomplished, Accomplished S, Accomplished Dazzle, Creative and Creative Flagship.
The best value for money variant is the Accomplished range which includes both AMT and manual transmissions as well as a CNG variant. But if you want an experience that includes features from a segment above, then look at the top spec Creative Flagship variant that offers creature comforts like rain sensing wipers, electronically folding mirrors, sunroof and a cooled glovebox.
Prices of the 2024 Tata Punch now start at Rs 6.13 lakh and go up to Rs 10 lakh. Prices of the petrol-manual versions range from Rs 6.13 lakh to Rs 9.45 lakh. Automatic variants range from Rs 7.60 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The CNG variants are priced from Rs 7.23 lakh to Rs 9.90 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The top spec Creative variant sports features like a sunroof, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, automatic climate control, electronically folding mirrors, 7-inch touch screen, and a cooled glovebox.
The Punch is quite spacious for a compact hatchback. The seats are wide and supportive with plenty of leg and knee room for rear seat passengers. The cabin isn’t too wide so fitting three passengers in the rear seats will be a bit of a squeeze.
The Punch is available with a single 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, petrol engine making 86PS and 113Nm.
It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT transmission.
It can also be had with a CNG option which only comes with a manual transmission.
What’s the mileage of the Punch?
Tata claims a mileage of 20.09kmpl for the 5-speed manual transmission and 18.8kmpl for the AMT transmission. In our real world tests we managed to get 13.86kmpl in the city and 17.08kmpl on our highway mileage tests. You can expect a mileage of 12-14kmpl in the city and 16 -18kmpl on the highway in real world conditions.
How safe is the Punch?
The Punch is equipped with 2 airbags, ABS, EBD, TPMS, reversing camera with guidelines, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a 5 Star Global NCAP safety rating.
How many colour options are there?
There are nine colours, including five dual-tone options: Foliage Green With White Roof, Grassland Beige with Piano Black Roof, Orcus White With Black Roof, Daytona Grey With Black Roof, Tropical Mist With Black Roof, Atomic Orange With Black Roof, Meteor Bronze With Black Roof, Calypso Red With White Roof, Tornado Blue With White Roof

The Punch is a rugged hatchback that has a great set of features and can handle bad roads a lot better than other compact hatches in its class. Consider it if you want a great feature set and its rugged ride quality.

The Punch’s true rivals are the Hyundai Exter, Citroen C3 & Maruti Ignis. On price alone it also competes with the Nissan Magnite and the Reanult Kiger.
