Tata punch Summary
Tata has relaunched the Punch Camo edition, which has now arrived at some dealerships. It features a new Seaweed Green exterior shade and a camo-themed interior.
In related news, the Tata Punch has been updated with new features, including a larger touchscreen and a wireless phone charger. Tata has also rejigged the lineup of the micro SUV introducing some new mid-spec variants in the lineup.
Prices of the 2024 Tata Punch now start at Rs 6.13 lakh and go up to Rs 10 lakh.
The petrol-manual variants range from Rs 6.13 lakh to Rs 9.45 lakh, while the automatic variants range from Rs 7.60 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The CNG variants are priced from Rs 7.23 lakh to Rs 9.90 lakh and the Punch Camo ranges between Rs 8.45 lakh and Rs 10.15 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The Punch is available in four broad variants:
Pure, Adventure, Accomplished Plus, Creative Plus
The Camo edition is being offered with the mid-spec Accomplished Plus and top-spec Creative Plus variants.
The best value-for-money variant is the Accomplished range which includes both AMT and manual transmission options, as well as a CNG variant. But if you want an experience that includes features from a segment above, then look at the top-spec Creative Flagship variant that offers creature comforts like rain-sensing wipers, electronically folding mirrors, sunroof and a cooled glovebox.
The Punch’s feature suite has been recently updated to include a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a wireless phone charger. Other features include a cooled glovebox, a single-pane sunroof, a semi-digital driver’s display, auto AC with rear vents and a height-adjustable driver’s seat.
The Punch is quite spacious for a micro SUV. The seats are wide and supportive with plenty of leg and knee room for rear seat passengers. The cabin isn’t too wide so fitting three passengers in the rear seats will be a bit of a squeeze.
The Punch is available with a single 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine which can also be had with a CNG option.
With petrol, it produces 88 PS and 115 Nm, mated either with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT (automated manual transmission).
With CNG, it produces 73.5 PS and 103 Nm, mated exclusively with a manual transmission.
Tata claims a mileage of 20.09 kmpl for the 5-speed petrol-manual transmission and 18.8 kmpl for the AMT transmission. The claimed fuel efficiency of the CNG version has not been revealed yet.
The Tata Punch was crash-tested by Global NCAP in 2021, where it scored a 5-star safety rating.
Talking about the safety features, it has 2 airbags, ABS, EBD, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), reversing camera with guidelines, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating.
There are a total of seven colours, including these options:
Tropical Mist With Black Roof
Calypso Red With White Roof
Tornado Blue With White Roof
Orcus White With Black Roof
Daytona Grey With Black Roof
Earthly Bronze (single-tone)
Seaweed Green with white roof (exclusive to the Punch Camo Edition)
The Punch is a rugged hatchback that has a great set of features and can handle bad roads a lot better than other compact hatches in its class. Consider it if you want a great feature set and its rugged ride quality.
The Punch’s true rivals are the Hyundai Exter and Citroen C3. Considering its price, it also competes with the Maruti Fronx and Toyota Taisor.
