I think the J-6 is the most instantly appealing musically out of all the Roland Aira series of 'compact' modules. I've printed out the chord set list from the manual (and also the phrase list). This tells me which chords I'm using in a sequence which is helpful if I'm trying to play something else along with it. 🙂
You aren't confined to using just one bank of chords, you can pick from whatever set you like and combine them together. BUT I really wish that the display would show which chord is playing.
Iv just ordered one get it tomorrow..I figured it will complement the circuit rhythm and ko33 I have the t8 iv heard some nice stuff with just the T8 and j6 so all be fiddling about with it tomorrow
Hi! Thanks for the video. But it is possibile to modify the step sequencer while it is playing? I m trying, i can select the step, see the entered note, and if i click more time a new note could be entered but after some tries...what i m doing wrong? Thanks
Hi Very nice , thanks Could you say with output Kabel on the mix out from the j6 did you take . I habe got Problems with my connections to my Scarlett Interface . Thanks
With the sequencer right. It always starts from the beginning. Is there a possibility to start from the 9th step straight away. Without having to listen to the first 8 steps.
Cool. I have noticed this machine tends to be used together with the T-8 a lot. What is the main reason for that? I am totally new to music and wanted to make my own tunes for fun. So I was considering parting with a few pennies. However I am not too sure what setup to opt for. These certainly look and sound awesome. Thanks for the video and and any help in advance.
The T-8 and J-6 are part of the Roland Aira Compact series that can be linked together (there is also the E-4 & S-1 too) so you can get a beat going while playing chords for example.
@@SaturdayMusicMachines Ah wicked. That has definitely sent me in the right direction. They are very cool gadgets. Thank you very much for the help. I appreciate it 😊
@@SaturdayMusicMachines I was asking if there's capability to add beats on this machine but it doesn't look like that. I play live music (not recording), does this plug into a PA or amp?

Thank you - this has helped me a lot grasp what 'state' the J-6 is in when certain things are flashing!
You're welcome!

Thank you very much for this video, it's so good to see how the Roland J6 works instead of reading the manual.
You're welcome.
This helps me understand it. Thanks
Glad it helped!
Very nice and unpredictable chord sequence!
Thank you.

Nice, enjoy 👍🏻
@@SaturdayMusicMachinesjust got it an hour ago it sounds so good really clean just like the juno
Can you program it so all the chords are not the same length? Can one chord last a half bar and then the next last an 1/4 notes length?
Not sure sorry, I don't have the device anymore.

You can change the step length and input live notes, but not sure about sure about changing notes while it's playing.
👌👌👏👏👏👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩

Hi,
Many thanks.
Do you mean what cable do I use?
Thanks.
Hi thanks for you Message .
I figured out that i Need a Y Patch Kabel for my Interface .
Do you know how you start from the 9th chord sequencer without having to start from 1? Can't seem to find. Cheers
I'm not sure what you mean?

I'm not sure to be honest, why would you want to do that?
How do you get sound out of this? What would I need to plug it into?
You plug headphones in or use a speaker. Pop it into the MIX-OUT jack (there is a pic of headphones next to the volume knob).
@@SaturdayMusicMachines thank you!

@@judgeberry6071also look into Korg Volcas they are easy to sync up with these machines
Hi, would you be able to play jump or dirty Diana on this? Does it store the sequences?
It does store sequences, but I would get something more advanced to play those songs.
Can you add drums
How?

Nope, that is what the T8 is for. But yes you can plug into a PA. @@Pilts82
Isnt this the whole purpose of the machine
Play it live or make a sequence you can do as you wish 👍🏻
