Find Your Voice | Dr Marco Franken | TEDxWassenaar

Marco Franken, ENT specialist specialized in the Human voice, shows us what the Human voice looks like when it's producing sound. A volunteer from the audience undergoes a procedure in which Marco Franken shows the movement of the vocal cords while producing sound. He explains how the vocal cords move. He shows the difference between a high pitch sound and a low pitch sound. Marco Franken werd geboren in 1955. Na het eindexamen VWO ging hij in 1974 Geneeskunde studeren aan de Rijksuniversiteit te Leiden. In 1981 behaalde hij het artsexamen. Na een assistentschap kinderchirurgie bij Prof. Molenaar in het Sophia Kinderziekenhuis startte hij in 1983 de specialisatie Keel- Neus-en Oorheelkunde bij Prof. P.H. Schmidt in het toenmalige AZL alwaar hij de interesse voor de foniatrie ontwikkelde. Na zijn specialisatie startte hij de praktijk in het Diaconessenhuis Voorburg (nu Reinier de Graaf). Momenteel is de foniatrie zijn specialisatie. Hij is verbonden aan het KC Den Haag en consult voor diverse opleidingen voor de uitvoerende kunsten Tevens adviseert hij theatergezelschappen en musicalproducties.
