- Headed out to explore a local section of the TET (Trans Euro Trail) about an hours ride from home. Section 19 joining at Aldershot and heading South towards Hindhead. Taking it easy on the big Africa Twin as no one needs to be picking up a 250kg bike on a Sunday!
It's been a wet couple of weeks and I encountered a few different water crossings. Thought I'd share a bit about the fairly unscientific methods I use, to decide whether to tackle them or not!

Well, you are smarter than I. This summer while riding TET Poland I encountered big overflow area around the river Wieprz. I assessed the depth of the water with a glance. At the beginning it was shallow enough but then it got deeper and deeper. I was shocked that my DR650 is still able to pull with water up to my ass but eventually she died on me.
I flooded the engine and ended up dragging the bike, through the water up my crotch, to the nearest village, for about 1 kilometer. Thanks to the helpful locals and a mechanic I was back on the trail the same night. It was good fun in the end, but I wouldn't repeat it.
Good luck with your adventures.
That must've felt like a bit of a sticky situation to begin with! What a cool memory to take home though. Fantastic to hear stories of people finding help when they need it, on their travels. I hope to get to TET Poland one day!

Good effort on the AT! What device did you use for navigation?
Thanks! I just use a Samsung A32 and the OsmAnd app. I mount it with a TruActive phone mount, which despite being cheap, has lifetime guarantee, which I can confirm they honour without fuss. 👍
