    The best video I ever saw about driveshafts was a guy who’s name escapes me. But he had built a jig that would allow the shafts to lock in as if they were in the actual truck/car/etc., and then used a torque wrench to turn them slowly and see how much torque each different set of shafts could take before damage. He was using Traxxas based shafts, although not Traxxas branded. The initial set was the factory plastic Revo shafts. In no time they just twisted into oblivion. Then the Traxxas steel shafts that are the really thin but silver steel ones. They made it longer, but began to twist but not totally break. Then, he used a set of MIP steels shafts. They broke the jig entirely. Game over! I’d love to see another person build a similar device to test shaft strength.

    Thanks for sharing. I just happened be looking at upgrading my VS4-10 driveshafts and saw nothing available except for these. I was hesitant but now I'm definitely going to order them.

      After a couple of runs I have to give this driveshaft setup a 👍. It works great and I don't seem to get hung up at all on the driveshafts any more. The rear gives me more length for the stretched out wheelbase.😎🤙

    Great info and video but Remember gentleman to put the drive shaft on the opposite way this guy did so the spine dose not fill with debris always make sure the hole of the drive shaft is pointing towards the axle and shaft part pointing towards transmission have a great day

    I used these on my scx10iii wrangler jlu rtr. Mine did not have those little shim spacers. Is that a problem? Thx

      It could be. You don't want any slop in the pinyon. Some need 1 or 2 shims, and some don't need any. Take your wheels off and disconnect your driveshafts. Then turn the pinyon and see how smooth it turns, then pull the pinyon in and out, you shouldn't have any play and it should rotate smooth. If you have play then add a shim to the pinyon shaft.

    What gearing did you go to so you could run your 2.2 tires

      I'm running an 11 tooth pinyon with a Holmes Hobby Crawlmaster Pro 11t 540 motor and love it. All tranny and axel gears are stock at the moment, no need to change them for now.

    Hi there, I was wondering if you could do me a huge favour, could you possibly measure the thickest (widest) section of these driveshafts for me please? It looks to be the pin on the joints, many thanks in advance ^^

    • @upgradedrc3697
      @upgradedrc3697  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the joint where the pin goes is the widest part measuring 12.53 mm or .493"

    You said, Vanquish didn’t know if their own incision drive shafts would fit on their own truck? Come on now. You don’t expect me to believe that do you?

      I asked Josh at Vanquish for these driveshafts before there was a set available and ya, I got one of first sets. They were made for another kit and hoped they would fit mine with extended wheelbase.
