Just one example: I had a brand new Xperia Z and I had to return it, because there was dirt inside on the camera lens. And I could tell more stories about other Sony phones I had. I was so fed up with Sony that I changed the brand, and I used to be a Sony fanboy like you.
Without SD card you cannot store those high pixel videos or images...so obviously S.D card makes sense...In my opinion this is not a camera centric smart phone but rather a Camera with high end smartphone feutures. 👌

Just got my Xperia 1iii a few weeks ago, and I'm loving it! It's got a pretty sweet variable focal length telephoto lens on it. I'm also making *very* good use of it's display (also 21:9 4K 120hz OLED). I'm also a huge fan of the stereo speakers and *HEADPHONE JACK*.
Do you think this PRO-I is worth the extra cost over the already very expensive X1 iii? or do you think the PRO-I is more worth the money and the X1 iii is over priced? I was close to pulling the trigger on the Purple X1 iii, but low stock and nothing in Canada has made it hard to get. Now i'm sort of glad, I think this looks to be the better deal.
@@jasonbougie8093 it's heavily dependent on what you want. If you happen to be really into vlogging, I'd say pull the trigger on Pro-I. Most people who know how to take advantage of the photographic capabilities on the phone will already have DSLRs of their own, making it not particularly worth it for just photography. The Xperia 1iii is a great all around phone, though it is definitely expensive. I would recommend you look at some of the other phones in the lineup if the 1iii's cost concerns you, like the Xperia 5ii.
I've been looking at the 1 iii for over a year since it's leaks. Unfortunately I'm not a big camera oriented guy, but i did want to try Sony's style since I come from samsung since the s4. Unfortunately the s21u is on sale rn and vs the xperia price wise, I had to skip it. The xperia has too many compromises for the niche attraction. I do hope they improve for the 1 iv and that way i can upgrade to their 1 v in 2 years haha

design is getting dated though, it looks like that since in last three years. perhaps shrink the top bezels more? and the side bezels, i am sure there is a way to improve that (like the s21 and s21+)

The Xperia 1 III was pretty damn amazing. The Xperia Pro was even better. Then Sony goes nuts and combines all of that into the Xperia Pro-I. Christmas present to myself FOR SURE!
Ngl, I always have had a soft spot with Sony phones. My first ever cell phone was the _Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro_ . All my friends had Droids or the G2... One even had the iPhone 4... but me... I had that. I thought it was the coolest phone ever back in the day. It's still one of the smallest Android phones made I believe.
My first Xperia was the XZ Premium, I use a 1ii now and I swear I can't go back to the Samsungs I was using before. They're such lovely devices to use- and the camera is so rewarding to use, even if you mess it up and the shot is utter garbage.
I've had a few Sony phones, I wouldn't dare think of buying any other brand, after experiencing, such an amazing device. Need to have a phone, it takes amazing photos and outstanding videos, and I think you've got me sold on the Sony Xperia pro I. I think it's time for an upgrade. 😁

as a freelance photographer the camera aspect of a phone is very important to me and Xperia 1 series does not disappoint... i got the Xperia 1 back in 2018/19 then the 1 mk iii then late the 1 mk V which is my current daily driver... i looked at the mk VI but im going to keep this one until the end of 2025 at least... 4K 120Hz OLED screen is gorgeous which no other brand does or likely will ever do now... as sony dropped the 21:9 aspect ratio 4K displays in favour of a more conventional aspect ratio FHD+ screen but with that compromise it allows a 2+ day battery Life which is a big plus... over a year later im still getting a full day out of my 1 mk V... performance is snappy and quick... 256GB internal storage coupled with a 400GB micro SD card means i have ample storage... little things like the minimalist design and texture of the rear of the phone... 3.5mm headphone jack... AI ZOOM and very fast auto focus and very accurate colour reproduction in photos... unlike the heavily processed and overly vibrant photos taken with Apple or Samsung... Sonys photos reflect what is actually in front of you... also great video... i filmed a boxing coaching course on my Xperia 1 back in 2020... anyways love SONY and hope they keep making these super special phones! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My Sony Experia XZ Premium is going very very strong since 2017, and it's still like new now, (Apart from being broken and replaced only once). But give me another brand that makes phones that last this long. It might live for many more years to come.

Apple has even go as far as programming in fake malfunctions if you use different part that the phone shipped with even if it is original. From their very first Xperia to this whole line of pro series, is simply brilliant. Like what was mentioned it's an RX100 series in a phone. I think this is one of the phones for some of us photo/video enthusiasts has been waiting for. I can't wait to get my hands on one!
The 1 inch is perfect for Sony Xperia phones. The older sensor doesn't take advantage of the manual mode in photography and cinematography. This is the perfect sensor. Now photo pro will definitely show the quality.

I loooove Sony's Smartphone! I'm still using my xperia XZ1 and I do have an iPhone, but I love my old xperia. The only problem is the charger, always has issues after 1 year used and I had to replace it every year. Now I have to use my laptop "C" charger lol and the other issue is taking pictures in the night or dark places and sunny days the colors are not amazing. However I'm still love it haha

Secondly, in Australia, the Galaxy Z-Fold is $2500 and the S21 Ultra is $2200. The iPhone XS Max at its original price literally cost $2300 and that was the X range, it keeps going up every year and we're at 13 now. The Pro range is the expensive flagship model like those competitors, the Xperia I line is cheaper than all of those phones too and has more features that I personally care about in a phone, that I want. Yes, Sony is justified to set those price-points when people gleefully pay the costs above every single year, people single out Sony because...bias. It's weird, despite the quality being superior, seriously, I don't even need a screen protector, I've had the 1 II for nearly two years now and dropped it multiple times by accident and it hasn't even left a scratch on the screen, an iPhone would shatter like it was nothing and they have from far less. Considering the quality of Sony's camera line and the fact they've transferred one of their best into a phone in a remarkable way, the price is justified. A user gets the benefits of a slightly scaled down version of that camera and the more ramped up version of the I III complete with an LDAC automatically installed in the headphone jack for the best audio quality around on any phone period, a 4K OLED 120HZ screen which should be the standard by now and Dolby Atmos speakers, Snapdragon 888, the latest chipset, it's nothing but quality. People complaining about the 21:3 scale also have no idea how cinematic it makes everything look. Seriously, the phone is so easy to hold in my opinion, looks completely different to anything else out there, I'm always getting asked about my Xperia all the time by others and am happy to show it to them and go through its utilities and features, the camera definitely always impresses because when I've compared videos I've filmed on it compared to my friends iPhone and my boyfriend's latest Samsung Galaxy, even the I II still has a better camera than them both and they've pointed that out. In Australia the I II cost me $1200 AUD on release, the Sony phones get extremely discounted almost immediately to be competitive, I expect $2400 isn't even the price I'll have to pay here for the Pro-I if I choose to get it. It's honestly a great deal compared to how much I used to fork out for iPhone's which I then ended up realising were getting worse and worse as time went on and more restrictive as well. A Samsung would fix that, yes, but from what I've seen they also just don't have features that I personally find to be better than the Xperia line. After doing research and comparing phones, I chose Xperia and haven't regretted it since, never had a single problem, no slow downs over-time, it looks amazing, people seem to want to attack Sony phones because they're the underdog, like it's still "in" to attack whatever isn't Apple, Samsung, Pixel, etc. It's again very weird and I just don't get it but people are missing out because their preconceptions and judgements of a phone they've never used before gets in the way and they stick with what they know, what they're comfortable with.

1st impressions here: I'm loving what Sony has done here! The one thing I always look for on a smartphone is the camera in terms of what it as and how well it performs. That 1" sensor is sick! And I truly appreciate the return of the lanyard eyelet because this is an attractive device, the last thing I'd want to is to spent extra $$ to ruin the aesthetics with a bulky, nasty looking case when a proper lanyard can offer a low-profile to protect the device from unexpected screen-shattering drops; as well as, protecting from opportunists looking to snatch shiny new phones out of ppl's hands (I live in a metro area). 📱🎉

Most of my US friends recall Nokia phones being 3300 or some other older low-end models. I remember Nokia as being an innovative, edgy, undisputed #1 phone company that lead the way before making some really bad decisions and fell like Rome. Even some tech reviewers confirms that Nokia was not that popular is the North America. You people leaner towards boring Blackberry more for high-end stuff so you missed out on the fun.

Sony needs to make its own operating system. Android, especially on non-Pixel devices, just doesn't get updated regularly enough and not for long enough. If they updated as long as ios then they would sell so much more. 1799 is a lot of money for a phone to only get one or two years of newest os.

I’ve been using Sony phones since the early 2000s and all these technology that IPhones and Samsung have been adding to their phones Sony been had them on theirs years ago. First Touch screen, first camera, first music player on a phone. First water proof, first dual sim, first high quality pictures, first Bluetooth phone, first 3G, first NFC integration connection. First IR modem connection on the T29. I used to have a Panasonic laptop and used my Sony phone to go online when dial up was still around. Forgot to mention the first 2 way video calling feature on the p990

Just one example: I had a brand new Xperia Z and I had to return it, because there was dirt inside on the camera lens. And I could tell more stories about other Sony phones I had. I was so fed up with Sony that I changed the brand, and I used to be a Sony fanboy like you.

With samsung ditching the SD Card Slot i think this will be my next phone. Definitely plenty if features to make it worth it.
Without SD card you cannot store those high pixel videos or images...so obviously S.D card makes sense...In my opinion this is not a camera centric smart phone but rather a Camera with high end smartphone feutures. 👌

Just got my Xperia 1iii a few weeks ago, and I'm loving it! It's got a pretty sweet variable focal length telephoto lens on it. I'm also making *very* good use of it's display (also 21:9 4K 120hz OLED). I'm also a huge fan of the stereo speakers and *HEADPHONE JACK*.
Do you think this PRO-I is worth the extra cost over the already very expensive X1 iii? or do you think the PRO-I is more worth the money and the X1 iii is over priced? I was close to pulling the trigger on the Purple X1 iii, but low stock and nothing in Canada has made it hard to get. Now i'm sort of glad, I think this looks to be the better deal.
@@jasonbougie8093 it's heavily dependent on what you want. If you happen to be really into vlogging, I'd say pull the trigger on Pro-I. Most people who know how to take advantage of the photographic capabilities on the phone will already have DSLRs of their own, making it not particularly worth it for just photography. The Xperia 1iii is a great all around phone, though it is definitely expensive. I would recommend you look at some of the other phones in the lineup if the 1iii's cost concerns you, like the Xperia 5ii.
I've been looking at the 1 iii for over a year since it's leaks. Unfortunately I'm not a big camera oriented guy, but i did want to try Sony's style since I come from samsung since the s4. Unfortunately the s21u is on sale rn and vs the xperia price wise, I had to skip it. The xperia has too many compromises for the niche attraction. I do hope they improve for the 1 iv and that way i can upgrade to their 1 v in 2 years haha

as a freelance photographer the camera aspect of a phone is very important to me and Xperia 1 series does not disappoint... i got the Xperia 1 back in 2018/19 then the 1 mk iii then late the 1 mk V which is my current daily driver... i looked at the mk VI but im going to keep this one until the end of 2025 at least... 4K 120Hz OLED screen is gorgeous which no other brand does or likely will ever do now... as sony dropped the 21:9 aspect ratio 4K displays in favour of a more conventional aspect ratio FHD+ screen but with that compromise it allows a 2+ day battery Life which is a big plus... over a year later im still getting a full day out of my 1 mk V... performance is snappy and quick... 256GB internal storage coupled with a 400GB micro SD card means i have ample storage... little things like the minimalist design and texture of the rear of the phone... 3.5mm headphone jack... AI ZOOM and very fast auto focus and very accurate colour reproduction in photos... unlike the heavily processed and overly vibrant photos taken with Apple or Samsung... Sonys photos reflect what is actually in front of you... also great video... i filmed a boxing coaching course on my Xperia 1 back in 2020... anyways love SONY and hope they keep making these super special phones!

I loooove Sony's Smartphone! I'm still using my xperia XZ1 and I do have an iPhone, but I love my old xperia. The only problem is the charger, always has issues after 1 year used and I had to replace it every year. Now I have to use my laptop "C" charger lol and the other issue is taking pictures in the night or dark places and sunny days the colors are not amazing. However I'm still love it haha

Secondly, in Australia, the Galaxy Z-Fold is $2500 and the S21 Ultra is $2200. The iPhone XS Max at its original price literally cost $2300 and that was the X range, it keeps going up every year and we're at 13 now.
The Pro range is the expensive flagship model like those competitors, the Xperia I line is cheaper than all of those phones too and has more features that I personally care about in a phone, that I want.
Yes, Sony is justified to set those price-points when people gleefully pay the costs above every single year, people single out Sony because...bias. It's weird, despite the quality being superior, seriously, I don't even need a screen protector, I've had the 1 II for nearly two years now and dropped it multiple times by accident and it hasn't even left a scratch on the screen, an iPhone would shatter like it was nothing and they have from far less.
Considering the quality of Sony's camera line and the fact they've transferred one of their best into a phone in a remarkable way, the price is justified. A user gets the benefits of a slightly scaled down version of that camera and the more ramped up version of the I III complete with an LDAC automatically installed in the headphone jack for the best audio quality around on any phone period, a 4K OLED 120HZ screen which should be the standard by now and Dolby Atmos speakers, Snapdragon 888, the latest chipset, it's nothing but quality. People complaining about the 21:3 scale also have no idea how cinematic it makes everything look.
Seriously, the phone is so easy to hold in my opinion, looks completely different to anything else out there, I'm always getting asked about my Xperia all the time by others and am happy to show it to them and go through its utilities and features, the camera definitely always impresses because when I've compared videos I've filmed on it compared to my friends iPhone and my boyfriend's latest Samsung Galaxy, even the I II still has a better camera than them both and they've pointed that out.
In Australia the I II cost me $1200 AUD on release, the Sony phones get extremely discounted almost immediately to be competitive, I expect $2400 isn't even the price I'll have to pay here for the Pro-I if I choose to get it. It's honestly a great deal compared to how much I used to fork out for iPhone's which I then ended up realising were getting worse and worse as time went on and more restrictive as well. A Samsung would fix that, yes, but from what I've seen they also just don't have features that I personally find to be better than the Xperia line. After doing research and comparing phones, I chose Xperia and haven't regretted it since, never had a single problem, no slow downs over-time, it looks amazing, people seem to want to attack Sony phones because they're the underdog, like it's still "in" to attack whatever isn't Apple, Samsung, Pixel, etc. It's again very weird and I just don't get it but people are missing out because their preconceptions and judgements of a phone they've never used before gets in the way and they stick with what they know, what they're comfortable with.

I love my Xperia 5ii, the pro-i will be my next phone. Sony makes the best phones but nobody notice them. This is the only pro phone worth the name PRO.

1st impressions here: I'm loving what Sony has done here! The one thing I always look for on a smartphone is the camera in terms of what it as and how well it performs. That 1" sensor is sick! And I truly appreciate the return of the lanyard eyelet because this is an attractive device, the last thing I'd want to is to spent extra $$ to ruin the aesthetics with a bulky, nasty looking case when a proper lanyard can offer a low-profile to protect the device from unexpected screen-shattering drops; as well as, protecting from opportunists looking to snatch shiny new phones out of ppl's hands (I live in a metro area). 📱🎉
the 1" sensor isnt fully being used and only a small portion is otherwise it would need a bigger lense and would be a 24mp rather than 12mp

That phone will still outstand Those mid range phones that has 64 mp cuz they have small sensor size... Even The Iphone 13 pro cam that has 12mp Beats the 108mp samsungs have made.. Not beat all samsungs 108 mp... Most of the feautures..
@@fredvoid5976 the sensor is from the sony rx 100 vii, which is a 24mp sensor at 1" the phone obviously is cropped down in the same way as Nikon (eg D610 full frame) when using FX lens its 24mp and DX lens its10mp .

Glad to see someone give this a fair shake. I personally won't get one, but most of the articles have been fairly negative. This is a high end point and shoot camera with a smartphone attached.

Now most of the flagship phones today can easily be considered as a professional filmmaking device.

Watching this makes me miss Nokia. Those living in the States won't understand what Nokia was. The real Zeiss optics powered supreme quality (for the time) camera phones were amazing to own.
Huh? We got those phones in the US and they were fantastic.
Vivo + Zeiss in my opinion is what Nokia would've been (but better) had they still lived a proper life.
HMD is doing absolutely nothing for the Nokia legacy.

@@rivera5589 Not really. You guys missed the Nokia revolution that was 2003-2008. New Phones with cool new features were coming out every month, they were as hyped as now or even more. Most of my US friends recall Nokia phones being 3300 or some other older low-end models. I remember Nokia as being an innovative, edgy, undisputed #1 phone company that lead the way before making some really bad decisions and fell like Rome.
Even some tech reviewers confirms that Nokia was not that popular is the North America. You people leaner towards boring Blackberry more for high-end stuff so you missed out on the fun.
Once again an amazing phone that I cannot afford. I think I've said this for every phone they've made. It's too bad, really. I always hear that it's for a niche market, and I'm like on board every time.

Sony needs to make its own operating system. Android, especially on non-Pixel devices, just doesn't get updated regularly enough and not for long enough. If they updated as long as ios then they would sell so much more. 1799 is a lot of money for a phone to only get one or two years of newest os.
Make an os in this market? Forget it. People will stop buying their stuff. Android has a huge app library. Devs won't bother making apps specifically for something so niche

I’ve been using Sony phones since the early 2000s and all these technology that IPhones and Samsung have been adding to their phones Sony been had them on theirs years ago. First Touch screen, first camera, first music player on a phone. First water proof, first dual sim, first high quality pictures, first Bluetooth phone, first 3G, first NFC integration connection. First IR modem connection on the T29. I used to have a Panasonic laptop and used my Sony phone to go online when dial up was still around. Forgot to mention the first 2 way video calling feature on the p990
