    Scott - these look great! I'm going to try your crazy lace "recipe" with my vibratory tumbler as well. The results are awesome. Thank you for sharing this.

      Thanks James! I hope you get some great results. I’m about to finish a batch of miscellaneous stones and I think some of them are going to be stunning 🤞.

      Hey Colin. Thanks so much for the offer! I used to live in Lufkin but that was before I was into rocks 😔. I might just have to go hounding with you. Thanks for watching!

    I just ordered some from the rock shed. What size are those. I bought medium and some large.

    • @spwinaustin
      @spwinaustin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I always order the large size whenever available. That allows for more shaping time in order to get them really smooth and still be big enough to enjoy.

      @@spwinaustin Yes I did order some of the large size. Looking forward to get at it.

    Fantastic shine! Crazy Lace is so beautiful. I love all of the crazy banding, eyes, druzy vugs and botryoidal vug. I especially love the ones with sagenite sprays and the one with iron in it. Did you hand pick these at your favorite rock shop or order these online? Thanks for sharing Scott!✌️🤠

      Hi Kyla, thanks for your comments. I bought this batch from The Rock Shed. I just received another 5 pound bag so I’ll be rolling some more soon!

    Hi Scott! Ivam about to try your 4 step method! How did you make sure your rocks were clean of any grit before moving to next stage?

    • @spwinaustin
      @spwinaustin  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Angel, thanks for watching! I have a relaxing routine whereby I put on some strong readers and examine each stone under good light and over the sink with a toothbrush in my hand. If there are any pits or cracks I simply brush them out under running water however most of the time I run my rocks for so long in the coarse stage that there are no areas which could potentially trap grit.

      @angellawson1883 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @spwinaustin HI again!!! I am asking because I just got 5 pounds of crazy lace agates and some have deep druzy pockets. Some would be impossible to remove without losing most of the stone. I am usually neurotic about smoothness before I leave stage 1. I don't know how to keep these pockets and not risk ruining the batch later on!

      @@angellawson1883 A good rinsing should be all you need. I wouldn't worry about cross contamination. That gets blown way out of proportion in my opinion.

    What grit of Aluminum Oxide??

    • @spwinaustin
      @spwinaustin  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, thanks for watching! I use the 1 micron AO which equates to approximately 14,000 grit.
