to get toxoplasmosis you have to come in contact with it first and so does your cat. it doesnt just appear in them. and indoor only cats have little to no chance of ever getting it. go spread your misinformation somewhere else
I used 4 foot strips of gaffer tape along the edges, sticky side up. Some cans stuck to the tape added some startling noises when the cats jumped down with the tape stuck to their feet. I used half width strips, and would remove them while working at the counters. It took about a month to completely discourage them from jumping up.
I thought the same thing when the cat ran, kicking off the mat. Its not a product issue. Its just common sense to secure them with painters tape or whatnot.
These cats have no home training. My cat doesn't climb on any counter or table in the kitchen. Nor any table tops in the living room and never in my bed my problem area is the dining room table. She does it while we are sleeping. I rarely use it but I hate seeing fur and litter in it. For that I'm getting this mat.

Leave it loose (don't fix it to the counter) so they get caught up in it. Works well doesn't injure the cat or goop his fur up. Just irritates the hell outta him. We also had good success flooding the countertop with some water. He would jump up, slip in it and get covered in water.

To me, owning cats 🙄 this is a fail. Why, or how, are they able to sit up there and even walk around without it shocking them? The obvious answer is the company makes them small so you have to buy more. The issue is, which is typical nowadays, them and other companies allow greed to hurt their sales. It doesn't cost them that much for materials and to build those mats. Buy a simple voltage regulator that uses A/C. Then either thin sheet metal or chicken wire. Measure your countertop and divide the mats for easy storage. Attach plugs at the end of each mat for piggybacking. This would work on mice too.

It works on my cats and they are still all over me wanting love like always... and they stay off my counters. I've also made it so they wonder when I'm walking back in after leaving or sleeping bc I trained them with the water...I'd leave the house like I was leaving or lay down in bed at night (but I'd stay up longer) I'd spray them while laying down I can see my kitchen from my bedroom and living room and when I acted like I was leaving and I'd open the door and what do ya know...they was up there so I sprayed them...it took me 2 ½ weeks before they stopped but I now watch them stare at the counters, forever but then turn away with an attitude but doesn't love me any different. And every cat is different some cats might take it differently but my cat's did fine with it.
I have an even more effective solution. Don’t have nasty, doodoo rocks in their feet havin cats in your home. I respect a barn cat for having a purpose. These things belong outside.
This is why I’m glad I have a separate kitchen with a door.

tape down your mats. it will prevent them from shifting when the cat bolts.
Good comment. Perhaps the mats need a mild adhesive pad on the underside to stop them sliding when the cat kick starts its leap.

A water bottle simple worked for my cats . After a couple of weeks you won't have to do it as much.

I think you just need to tell the cat no and spritz with water when they do it this cn conflict pain ans stress later in life for them.
