I went to community college for FREE! That was the only way I could save enough money to attend my dream school (UCLA) where I currently am.

I prefer the selling "stuff" option or the good old selling a kidney option.

I am essentially getting paid to go to college right now. I'm doing my best to maintain grades but I'm actually getting more money right now than I was when I was working. Also community college is the best decision I could have chosen. Short session classes help get rid of my pre requisites because I'm planning to transfer to a new college in Seattle. Its great because all my tuition is paid as well as being able to attempt a few credits, and all the leftover money I can pocket for future room and board expenses when I end up moving. I really hope this works out, but for now it is working greatly for me because I'm able to pocket and save this money.

Went to community college for the first 2 years of college and literally paid negative tuition cuz I got multiple scholarships through school. However, I don't qualify for any financial aid cuz I come from a very income family but I will be working summers and part-time during the next several semesters along with my dad's financial help to pay for the next 2 years

Get a part time at Amazon. I work a 30 hour shift Friday, Saaturday, and Sunday nights and that makes me eligible for their career choice program that pays 100% of my CC tuition. With that being said, I also pick up shifts during the week for extra money. It may not be the greatest place to work but the benefits weight out the negative. So it just really comes down to how bad do you want it!

I went to the Army for four years and got 8 years of tuition and housing allowance for free. I got a disability in the process, but I used VR&E to pay for my Bachelors. Now I'm using my Gi Bill to become a Psychologist. So it was worth it in my opinion.

Sometimes I wish I didn’t go to CC because now I have to try to transfer to universities… Some schools that I prolly would have got accepted to in Highschool are now much more difficult to try to transfer to from Community college. But but it is saving me a lot of money and at the time I didn’t know what I wanted to do so it’s better to waste time in CC in trying to find what we want to do than wasting tons of money at a university.

Looking back at my college and university years, you are correct in contrasting community colleges vs universities.

Hey Shane, what’s up? Big fan of your channel. I’m a high senior planning to attend a community college and then transfer to a four year school to hopefully major in civil engineering. I’ve thought a lot about your advice on applying for essay scholarships and how there are patterns in these contests. Could you do a video on common essay prompts that you’ve seen? Keep up the great work. You make my life much easier

What I would have given for this kind of advice and resources back in the early 2000s. Essay writeups were a thing, but you had to do that BY HAND and send it in the snail mail. The way things are just a click or two away today is just amazing. I sure hope the younger people today take advantage of all these tips and listen to you, Shane. You are truly doing God's work here.

Honestly, the importance of the commuting option cannot be understated. I graduated college with no debt thanks to that option. I spent two years at a community college before transferring to a public university that was a 45-minute drive from my parents' house. Lived with my parents all five years it took me to get through college. That way, I didn't have to pay for food (except for an occasional treat) or housing, plus I was in-state so my tuition was cheaper than if I'd gone out-of-state. I only had to pay for tuition and mandatory fees, books and supplies, and gas for my car. My parents didn't pay for my college; they helped me by letting me live at home for free, and buying me a car/paying for most of the car expenses (insurance, maintenance, etc, basically everything but gas and car washes).
