Glacier Bay Faucet Unboxing & How a Faucet Works

- In this video I unbox a Glacier Bay Market Single-Handle Pull-Out Sprayer Kitchen Faucet. It has a Stainless Steel finish. I also go over all of the hardware that is included and then I show how this faucet works.
The main point of this video is to show you all of the hardware that is included and how you can install this faucet yourself simply by understanding how the faucet hardware works.
I do not do a real install but instead walk you through an imaginary install. If you want to see an example of an actual install for part 1001 813 686 you should subscribe now because I will be posting the real install later.
The thing to keep in mind when watching this video is that this faucet is a single arm or handle faucet. It is made really well since it is made with real stainless steel. It is also convenient because you only need one hole in your sink in order to install this faucet.
I installed this Glacier Bay faucet myself. It has been working great so far. My only complaint is that I had to tighten the faucet once because it started leaking from the spout area. What I like best about this specific model (1001 813 686) is the weight that attaches to the end of the sprayer.
It does not get tangled like my old sprayer did because of the unique weight that comes with it. All of the hardware in this video comes with the faucet. That reminds me, I wanted to mention that it comes with some quick connect fittings which I love.
Here is a list of the included hardware:
Faucet
Sprayer
Weight for Sprayer
Washer / Gasket for the sink and faucet meeting point
Decorative Chrome Cover to hide the washer
Hot water Supply Line
Cold Water Supply Line
Faucet Spray Line
Quick Connect fitting to mount faucet to sink
Quick Connect fittings for the sprayer

Thank you! Hello, my name is Debbie I'm 66 yrs young and I never did this before, but your instructions made it so easy to follow. Again thank you.
You are so welcome! That makes my day! Thanks!
Your awesome dude 👍
Thanks.
I have learned how to put on my pull down faucet from looking at your video. I brought the new faucet over a year ago. While the old faucet leaked into my basement. I swear I was ready to pay my neighbor $50 dollars to do what you explained in the most simple terms. I have watched video after video for a year, Looked at the instructions. Got frustrated put the whole faucet and box of tricks back on the shelf. Tonight is 03/26/2021. Between 2/3am. I understand how to install my single handle pull down faucet. Thank you. I'm now your student.
Thanks so much!
I just bought this faucet at Home Depot and installed it. I'm not a plumber but am a DIY guy, saved $120 labor by doing this. The install went very smooth, working under a counter inside a cabinet isn't the most comfortable experience but it's doable. I'm 74 and got it done. Los Angeles
I agree totally. It is tight quarters under a sink and hard to move your arms under there. I had a few choice words with my sink every time I bumped my elbow or had to twist to reach something but am glad I saved some money.
Man this was one of the best tutorial videos I have ever seen. Concise and completely helped me out tonight. Thank you, Ray! What a great job you did here. A thousand thanks!
You're very welcome!
Yes, thank you very much in the breakdown I have been watching installment videos all day and none of them explains everything..the part I was having a hard time understanding was the 3rd line and how it was to be connected to where and what its for..thank you..thank you..thank you..now I'm ready to install my faucet..you are my hero!!
Thank you so much! That means so much to me! People often criticize my how to videos so when somebody finds them useful it brightens up my whole day. Thanks again!
@@RayStein do you know how to uninstall or release the quick nut???
@@bmack1447 Yes just squeeze the tabs on the sides and move it up and down.
@@RayStein thanks
Thanks for the info about the fast connect!
Thanks!
@@RayStein - I was trying to get mine off, because it was loose. Anyway, fast connect plastic broke, but I guess I could get a part to replace it.
This is one of the best tutorial videos I have ever watched. Very detailed. Ray, thanks a lot for sharing!
Wow, thanks!
That is the faucet that I have in place now and trying to replace. How does that ‘quick install nut’ get removed?
You have to squeeze the sides with all your hand strength and pull straight down.
Installing this faucet today. This video helped out. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comment! Is your faucet still working well? My faucet started leaking so I bought a new one.
We just bought the same faucet and I will install this weekend. The problem will be getting the old faucet off as it has a metal nut to loosen and it is very tough to get a wrench in there. Plus, it is all rusted around the nut. Hoping for the best. Thanks for the video as it will be helpful on the install portion.
I wish you all the luck with your new faucet. My faucet started leaking near the handle because my kids were rough on it. I was able to tighten it a few times but they eventually did it in. The good news is I can make another video on my next faucet. lol
@@RayStein I still have not installed out faucet yet. I am actually on the fence about returning it and getting a better well known brand. How long before yours started leaking? It seems strange they make it where you can't replace the pull out spray handle. Would you buy the same brand again?
@@uptownphotography No. I wish I had never purchased this faucet. I had other people tell me theirs started leaking too and they could not fix it either. From my experience the old fashioned faucets hold up better and can be repaired but they are hard to find these days. The more simple the longer they last. The more fancy faucets with added features and swivel action adds more components and increases the odds of problems. This is one of the only products I reviewed that gave me problems. I installed a cheap used simple faucet in my bathroom and it has never failed me going on 10 years now. The faucets with a separate sprayer seem like the best. It's not about money it's about design and repairability. In terms of brands I have heard good things about Moen but have never tried one and they are expensive.
@@RayStein I think I am going to return it....What did you get. What make/model. I will check it out. Thanks a lot. All the best....
@@uptownphotography The Home Depot may not stock mine anymore ( EZ Flo Model 10125) price = $22 but here is one in stock at the Home Depot that I trust and recommend: (Banbury 2-Handle Mid-Arc Standard Kitchen Faucet with Side Sprayer by Moen) Model CA87553 for $69. You could also try Amazon if you have Prime.
Thank you. You are awesome
Thanks. There is so much information out there to learn plumbing. I think it's fun saving money.
Thanks for the video. How do you disconnect the existing grey fastmount. In addition to simply turning it counter clockwise, is there something else that should be done to enable it to start turning/loosening?
I squeeze it and then it goes up and down. There is a tab you have to squeeze.
@@RayStein if the fast mount falls apart when removes how does it go back together
@@debifrey5021 If it falls apart it can be tricky to get back together - there may be videos on how to do that on other channels.
Thank you so much Your the one that made easy seeing your video and understanding the installation.
Thanks so much! My purpose in making videos is to help others learn that any home improvement project is possible with a little research and self confidence. I worked at the Home Depot and later became a professional handyman and am happy to pass on whatever information I can. Home improvement can be a lot of fun. Thanks again!
What about the other two hoses coming out of the faucet
One line is the hot water line and the other is the cold water line. The third hose is connected to the faucet and is for the sprayer.
Thought i found the video, got exited when i seen you put fastmount on, thought you were going to show how to pull it off..
You have to squeeze the sides of the release tabs and pull down on it. It's tough to do especially when under a sink.
@RayStein had mine too tight, had to spin the faucet from the top to break the seal
I notice this brand with the Fastmount can leak. do you recommend any other brand
Mine leaked too. I ended up getting a Delta. So far so good.
Thanks. Very clear explanation.
Thanks.
Why does my fast mount keep coming loose from underneath ? Also can’t get the top faucet to spin by itself from the bottom part
If the faucet won't spin then it's too tight underneath. Try making the fast connect a bit less high. A bunch of us who purchased this have been having major problems with this faucet being defective. My honest advice is to consider returning it or at least let the store know it has an extremely high failure rate and ask for store credit. The cheap one works way better. It's only around $39 and is way more reliable. It's not as fancy but at least it always works: www.homedepot.com/p/Glacier-Bay-Constructor-2-Handle-Standard-Kitchen-Faucet-with-Side-Sprayer-in-Chrome-HD67099-1B01/309237957
I had a terrible time getting it off too bad I didn't see your video before but I have no idea how the fastener Titans wouldn't reinstalling twisting it doesn't do anything. I haven't written off buying another one yet but it look like it's stayed in your video but it's not under my sink 😅
Great Lesson.......................n Thank you Sir.............
Thanks!
Please note ******** some of us have been having problems with this faucet leaking after 1 year of usage. If you have not bought one yet I would try something else. If you already bought one and want to chance it this video will help you install it. Hopefully you will have better luck than I did.
I agree!!!!! 13-14 months after installing the exact same faucet it failed. I'm thankful I was home and noticed the water leaking. Something failed internally my guess is the shut off valve inside the faucet..... I was lucky I made it to home depot and bought a new basic moan for 79.99 CDN before they closed for the night. No time to return the glacier bay, just more money down the drain. Don't buy this faucet!
I have had bad luck with every faucet I've tried. I recently bought the cheapest one because my expensive ones were failing. So far it's working.
Mine failed right at the two year mark.
@@jaredanderson53 Thanks for letting everybody know. I replaced my faucet with a cheap plastic model that has been working ever since.
Thanks for the great video. Do you really have to use the long plate if you only have one hole on the surface
No. You only need a gasket of some type over the hole so water does not get in there.
Great job 🙂👍
Thanks 😁
Thanks. Does the hot and cold lines just run temperatures to the top of the faucet? I might have to research how those work.
Yes they do. They mix when you swivel the top handle.
Why won’t my new sprayer hose line go down through. Old one came out easy enough
The original line is very thin. The average replacement lines are thicker. You could try looking for a thin one on Amazon like this one but I'm not sure if it fits:
onewww.amazon.com/Moen-159560-Replacement-Service-Pullout/dp/B00BSXMOUC/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2FWT9ZIU6C1Z5&keywords=thin%2Bkitchen%2Bsprayer%2Bline&qid=1661781724&sprefix=thin%2Bkiytchen%2Bsprayer%2Bline%2Caps%2C82&sr=8-4&th=1
They are a bit pricey so a new faucet might be a better way to go.
THANK YOU VERRY MUCH,JUST PUTING SAMEONE IN MY SINK
Thanks!
There are so many people out there including myself having problems with the fastmount. I tried to order the old school mounting but from glacier Bay but it's not fitting either. Have you had any problems with the fastmount coming loose, and if so, did you find a way to fix it?
I had a problem now as well. I sprung a leak and went to the Home Depo and complained. I actually decided to try a different faucet because too many of us are having problems. I'm sorry I even filmed this but hopefully other people will have better luck than we did. I would say you should try something else as well because faucets should last much longer than 1 year. I just bough the cheapest thing they had out of frustration. So far so good.
@@RayStein yeah I kind of figured you get what you pay for. Just wanted to see if there was any hope of fixing it. Either way I'm selling the house it's in and I'm already giving the buyer repair money at closing which covers it, so if they want to they can deal with it. If not it still works ok, just a little wobbly. Glad it didn't completely bust like your faucet though
Congrats on the closing! I tried taking the faucet apart but it seems to be designed so that it would have to be returned to the factory to be repaired. It seems many products today are more disposable than repairable.
@@RayStein Thank you! And yes unfortunately that does seem to be the case
Do you know how to remove the black cover that secures the faucet once it is installed? Like the piece that goes on top of the gold threaded metal that goes into the hole in the sink
You have to squeeze the sides and pull straight down.
So I'm having a heck of a time removing the faucet now. How do I get the dang fastmount thing off so i can pull out the faucet?
I think I had to squeeze the tabs on the sides of the grey connector and turn it counter clockwise at the same time while pulling down.
Thanks for the video
Thanks!
How do you undo the fast mount?
There are tabs on the side. It helps to get a flashlight and find them before trying to squeeze the tabs and pulling downward.
Great tutorial, Thank you! But what's the allen key that comes in the box for?
It is used for tightening the chrome part of the faucet. You have to look very carefully because the screw is hidden.
@@RayStein thanks, I did it!! 👩🔧
@@benedina Awesome! Glad to hear some good news. Thanks!
How do you remove the fastmount?
You have to squeeze the sides really hard and pull down.
I have one like this and the water not comming out
It sounds like a valve is off.
With that platic piece you don't need plumbers putty?
The manufacturer recommends silicone under the plastic gasket.
@@RayStein yeah i had to find out the hard way lol.
I just purchased this Glacier Bay kitchen faucet $90 from Home Depot and paid a plumber to remove the old rusted one and install this one $150. Exactly 2 months and it started to leak, called out the plumber paid $90 to tell me the faucet was defective and the plumber wants me to go buy another one and call him back out to reinstall the new one for another $150 and he suggested I buy the $200 Moen. WTH?? Thanks for the video Ray, wished I would have seen it before buying the Glacier Bay the first time, any recommendations on what to buy this time?
I actually bought and installed the cheapest one I could find at the Home Depot. It's cheap plastic and it had the spray handle separate. It has never leaked. It looks like this one: www.homedepot.com/p/Glacier-Bay-Constructor-2-Handle-Standard-Kitchen-Faucet-with-Side-Sprayer-in-Chrome-HD67099-1B01/309237957
Thats why I'm learning in how to do it myself, I will try and do it myself first then if all fails, then I'll call a plumber but these days with TH-cam and folks sharing on them very useful..very useful
Very good Video! THanks!!
Thanks!
Anyone else have problems getting that connect nut to actually tighten down?
I had to squeeze it and push up with nearly all my strength. Mine would not thread and turn like a normal one.
Good video thanks.
Thanks!
My Glacier Bay Market Single-Handle Pull-Down Sprayer is not working properly. I have normal water flow with the hot water, but the cold water is barely flowing out of the faucet. It has a brand new cartridge I installed. What is your suggestion?
First make sure your cold shutoff is turned all the way counter clockwise. If that does not change things and your old faucet had a strong cold flow I would return the glacier bay and get another. If the cold was slow on both I would try to find the cause of low pressure. Let me know what you find out. Thanks!
See "Glacier Bay kitchen faucet repair"
my glacier bay faucet is leaking from the top
They are very temperamental. I had to replace mine for the same reason. I went with the cheapest thing I could find and my new one works so far.
Fast connect keeps coming loose from the thread why ????
The button you push in may be stuck. See if you can free it up by pressing real hard on it then releasing it quickly a few times.
@@RayStein Yeah, ours is pushed up all the way, but still keeps stripping when you try to tighten it reasonably cinched. Thinking I would like to replace this Glacier Bay junk with something decent like Kohler or Moen.
I wished they showed how to remove it 😩🤦🏾♂️
The trick to removing them is to squeeze the sides and pull down.
You brainwash people thinking it is easy, unlike almost everyone else. Deserves a follow!! 😂
Thanks!
Why not show installing it?????
It's really hard to film under a sink. Every image would be up close.
