As the dude that has been testing most of the PSP games on the community compatibility sheet, I cannot recommend enough getting a cheat database installed. The one I posted in the compatibility sheet contains several necessary patches as well as 60fps bumps that make certain games way more enjoyable.
Hi, I don't have my RG 505 yet as it's on its way so I can't look into this. Can you let those who don't know, what a cheat database is and how to get one? I mainly got the RG 505 for PSP so if I can get better performance I will really appreciate it!
I just want you to know all these videos you have done with all the emulators are amazing. I have an odin instead of a pocket 3+, but your videos actually teach you how to adjust the settings and what to do in games not shown here. These are great for any android system.

Thank you so much for your comment! Some of these videos take a long time and what becomes 20 minutes on TH-cam was days spent testing settings and games, plus several hours each filming and editing. So long as people find them useful that makes the effort worth it!
Thanks for taking the time to show what visual differences the settings can make. To be honest the only change I have made is setting the resolution to 2x and everything is running near perfect, if I didn't have the FPS counter on I wouldn't notice any dips even in Ghost of Sparta.
At 2X everything should definitely run well. I just think it is fun to see how far the hardware can be pushed, of course. :) You're right that many of the dips I (or others) complain about are so small we wouldn't even notice without the counter on. Also, thanks so much for appreciating the details!
PSP on this device has been the best experience I've had on a handheld so far. Most games will work @ 3x w/Vulkan, and a few may need to be set to 2x. The device alone is worth it just for PSP emulation on the go!
@@MjolnirStone - Great video BTW - Appreciate you going through all the settings for us for the best experience. One comment/tip - Set the PAUSE menu to one of your unused buttons (I use the L3 trigger), this way you don't have to swipe from the left-hand side each time you want to get back to the menu!!
@@chrismacp264 - I tend to use R3, as you will by accident, keep on pressing L3, especially when button mashing like in a fighter game. I find R3 less likely to be pressed. - But that's just my opinion.

I have a great tip for owners of Retroid Pocket 3+. How to get the 3 icons at the bottom of the screen, so we have a back button, useful for opening emulators, to change settings. Touch the Cog icon / Settings, scroll down to System, then Gestures, touch the first option, gesture navigation, scroll right down, and change to 3 button navigation. Then keep on touching the new left arrow, until you are back to main screen. Hope that helps people, enjoy this handheld even more.
as usual, appreciate it! Also, maybe you should try playing racing games with the dpad. I found that sticks are way too extreme in steering, give dpad a try! Initial D on PSP especially works great with dpad for me
Well, I am not really "playing" any of these games other than Ridge Racer, which you will see I played with the d-pad. :) The others are just performance testing.
I know this handheld plays way more then just PSP but it really feels like a reinvention of the original PSP where they added a second analog stick and made a more premium handheld version of the PSP.
Something i found out after this, you need to use "nearest" for 2D games or you'll get black lines across the screen. Blazblue, Guilty Gear, metal slug, etc...
I wanted to see how naruto ultimate ninja heroes 3 , akutski rising and kizuna drive performed on the retroid pocket 3+. 007 from Russia with love and lumines 2. When it comes to God of war ghost of Sparta. Since playing on ps3 its rough going back to psp. These channels only play mainstream games, not one's like p3p or midnight club 3 dub edition or me and my katamari. The psp has so many amazing games.
I know this may be a big ask, but could you give some tailored specs for juiced 2 HIN? I've been playing it a lot, and I had it working decently at one point, but after playing with settings Ive practically killed the gameplay, and running with you base specs and modifying them isn't helping much either. At the moment, the only way I'm really getting smooth gameplay is once I get one lap in either restarting the race, or pushing through, it's almost as if it isn't putting the whole track into ram at the loading phase or something
Any idea why neither my stick nor dpad will register? I cant map them at all just gets stuck on the “map a new key” prompt no matter what direction i press or way i move the stick

Has anyone gotten PSP "Exit" to work? I can't even get RetroArch to recognize that it's there. Do I unzip the .iso or leave it zipped? (I've tried both.) I have it working perfectly on my SteamDeck (unzipped iso), but can't get anywhere on the RP3. TIA!
Only a suggestion, but 2d fighting games like street fighter 3 max will have to change some settings, atleast on rp3, it lagged using standard settings, I think something to do with flat textures idk.
I tested Street Fighter 3 Alpha Max and it runs beautifully even at 4x resolution (but you do need nearest neighbor texture filtering for that one or you get weird graphic issues).
@@MjolnirStone awesome! I had it configured great on rp3 but that was open gl. Your Vulcan video has helped a lot! I gotta work a few more things to get it maximized, I get frame tear at times, and only running 3x.
@@suhtangwong Yup, configuration on RP3+ is definitely a totally different situation than on RP3. Honestly with the 2D games on PSP I don't notice much benefit in scaling them up anyway. I guess for cell shaded 2D it would work well but for proper bitmap/sprite based games it just doesn't seem to make much difference, so do what it takes to get them performing at their best for sure.

seems like last versions of ppsspp doesnt ship with buffered rendering & simulate block transfer effects settings for some reason. weird

The settings in current version of PPSSPP are missing a lot of the ones noted at the start of this video.

I agree. Between PSP and Dreamcast I kind of don’t need it to play anything else. Both of those it actually improves considerably.
PSP is one of the best emulators too. It runs smoothly compared to other emulators, and even works with low specs.

I dont know if it's because of the update but my rp3+ runs and looks better with opengl. Having games on 4x or 3x resolution.

I got my Retroid 3+ today and noticed my version of PPSSPP is missing some of those graphical settings, like post processing shader.
Check for updates. The included version may not be the newest one.

It seems that the settings menu has changed noticeably with version 1.14.1.
They changed it again from 14 to 14.1?? I will have to check that out.
