Great list. I love when us Newtronians get a list and can talk about games we value or that had a big impact on us in a specific genre. I personally am not a fan of open world since most of them have big maps but the maps are filled with very unfulfilling content in my opinion. But every now and then we get a Ghost of Tsushima or Skyrim that has an amazing atmosphere and we can tell was made with love and charm.

Yes the game is excellent one of my favorites. I heard they are doing a Days Gone movie perhaps if the movie is successful Sony will take notice and finally do a sequel to the game.
rdr2 is nearly 6 years old and truly still the best open world game ever made and its not even close in my opinion. thats why i got high expectations for gta 6

I’m back on *RDR2* right now for about the 100th time, I’ve looked on the Home Screen where it tells you how much you’ve played a game & mine it says I’ve played *RDR2* for *786* hours that seems insane but then I can literally play this game for days without doing any story content I just love the hunting, this games a masterpiece

Ghost of tsushima is literally like they took a big budget samurai movie copy an pasted it into a game it literally is the greatest games ive ever played.
Personally, I think the freedom of an open world game is really what makes them stand out. Being a trophy hunter, linear games terrify me because if I miss a collectible I have to replay the entire mission to find that one little trinket 😭 Even though Rise of the Ronin’s combat looks a little difficult, I’m superrrrr excited for that game. Oh, and I’m definitely one of the ones who found your channel from your Days Gone videos. We NEED a Days Gone 2!!! Great video as always dude!

My favorites Days Gone I love that game Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 and I’m ready for GTA 6 and Assassins Greed Mirage im glad it went back to its roots💯 I stop playing them until this this one👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I saw a few sentences of someone’s comment about Days Gone before I even watched the video and have to say Days Gone was done incredibly well and deserves a sequel. Ok…now I’ll actually watch the video.
RDR2, Witcher3, Days Gone & Cyberpunk 2077are my all time favourite open world games. I think The Outer Worlds deserves to be in top 6-8. It's a semi-open world with great RPG & dialogue choices, good combat. So many ending options. DLC's are good too. I prefer this game to No Man's Sky anyday. I'm excitedly waiting for The Outer Worlds 2 to release in a year or so & also GTA6. CD Project have indeed offered most amazing background music in Witcher3 & also in Cyberpunk to a good extent.
I picked reluctantly picked up Avatar around Christmas looking for a new open world game to play. I saw a lot of negative reviews (basically all negative actually) so I was not expecting much. Basically all I do is play that damn game! I think it is sooooo good! It is easily one of my favorite games in recent memory. The open world is HUGE! There is so much to do and to explore. I was a big fan of Far Cry Primal so it might be similar, but it is still so freakin' good.
I look forward to every new video you bring out and your humor never fails to give me laughter. I just bought my first PS5 a couple months ago and have started collecting many of these games you mentioned and the nice part is most of them are discounted because they’ve been out for so long. The game where you can build up your island from a poor area to a five star one looks intriguing but why did they have to make it turn based play? I’ll have to wait for the review on that one before I buy.
I’m not too keen on turn based combat, buts it’s defo something I have to get used too and hope to enjoy it, I’m like you though, much prefer the traditional combat… enjoy your ps5 buddy!
Love seeing Witcher 3 here, my favorite game of all time after TES Oblivion. Absolute perfection, PEAK GAMING! I’m looking foward to picking up Avatar, I played Days gone not that long ago and I was shocked that its not talked about more, man what a great game! I hope it gets a sequel at some point.
I really hope ROCKSTAR comes out with a RDR3 at some point. This game is truly amazing. Everything about it. There’s ALWAYS something to do in the game even after you finish the main story. U couldn’t have put it in better words to describe it tbh.
Red dead redemption 2 is the only game I can enjoy for endless hours and do absolutely nothing progression wise. I’ve spend hours just bird watching 😊 it’s my favorite of all time!

IMO the big three are witcher 3, Red dead redemption 2 and Ghost of tsushima 1. Witcher 3 for atmosphere 2. Red dead redemption for realism and characters 3. Ghost of tsushima for the gameplay and the fact that I am self proclaimed weeb.

Im so hyped for star wars outlaws, probably the only game im excited for this year. Ive played most of these games and one i would add is death stranding i have 100+ hours in that game because the story has so much depth and is just amazing. I own maybe half of the games you mentioned on this list and yeah, they're all great open-world experiences. Can't say I've beaten them all though but I'll get to the point of at least completing the story to the game.
I’ve never understood why so many people dislike Days Gone. I’ve completed it 3 times now and still not bored. I’ll probably play through again now I’ve finally upgraded console too.
I am currently playing HFW Burning Shores after finishing the main story for the second time! But this time I Platinum the main story and upgraded to Legendary Weapons and I must say it’s a different game when you do this, making your own built is amazing. I never used the Bolt Caster before and now it’s my favorite weapon if used properly! But the game I’ve gone back too the most has to be The Witcher 3 because of all the different choices you can make in each play through. So I can’t wait for The Witcher 4 and Horizon 3!!!!! Both are classics in my book.❤
The thing about no man's sky is if you're first to the planet you get to name it, there's a whole section of space with about 40 planets called England is Gay with sequential numbers following 1,2,3,4,,,and so on. I named the first one when Harry Kane equalised in the last few minutes against Scotland, when I was still full of rage, and I kept the trend going thinking how funny it would be for an Englishman discovering a new planet and thinking wtf, leaving that one for the next one to be the same then their trapped for a while with every planet nearby called it 😂
Awesome list! The Horizon games are in my periphery, and will probably be in my collection in the future. I ABSOLUTELY love Hogwarts legacy. I have about 30 hrs in, and it has mostly been spent exploring and enjoying the atmosphere. I feel like I'm at Hogwarts as a new student, and the game is just amazing! The whole controversy doesn't phase me, because I have completely separated JK from my personal enjoyment of everything HP. I've been a fan for too long, and it is too ingrained in my life. This is also shared by a lot of the fans in the HP universe, and it is evident at the HP conventions (which have been the MOST inclusive conventions I've ever been to). I loved what I played of Ghosts of Tsushima, but have set it aside because I want to give it the focus and time it deserves. RDR2 is an absolutely AMAZING game! The majority of my time played has been the online version, but I love Arthur as a character, so I'm slowly making my way through the story as well. I hope this isn't breaking rules....but the Zelda games have been AMAZING!!

Kingdom come, RDR2 and Witcher 3 are hands down TOP 3 some best open worlds of all time. Ghost of Tushimia is also really good, Far Cry Primal is also good if you play it on Hardcore it really adds alot to the game such a unique setting for a game also. Not including older PS2 games like GTA but they are some of best on the market. Skyrim and GTA5 are fantastic open worlds and Fallout 4 is worth checking out. Its honestly hard to find good open wolrd games on PS4 and PS5. Elden Ring and HFW are good open worlds but I can not think of many over open worlds were the open world is actually good.
Just watched and went through my games and another open world I think is deserving a mention is Mad Max on the PS4. I thought that game was absolutely brilliant
My son got into Anime. I downloaded PS5 Genshin Impact and PS5 Honkai:Star Rail. Both are FREE. He enjoy them a lot . I try it and unexpectedly I got hooked on them too. Gorgous open worlds they are. Just amaze they’re free and look really great. Genshin is action rpg,Rail is turn based rpg . Anime may not be for everyone but the game is a nice different feel

Just bought a PS5 recently and finished the Astro game and Spiderman2 and now about to start Ghost Of Tsushima, Ratchet and clank, Horizons and Returnal then who knows probably try the skull and bones and whatever else comes out that looks good as much as I can get in this year don’t play consistently

I had fun getting the plats for AC Odyssey, Valhalla even if they were a huge timesink, Witcher 3, Death Stranding directors cut, GOT on PS4 before the PS5 edition with the Iki island expansion, Spiderman & Miles Morales, Mafia: Definitive Edition, Days Gone on ps4 before the 60fps boost on PS5, Horizon Zero Dawn & Forbidden West, Mad Max & Watchdogs 2 amongst others. GTA V has a fun open world but GTA IV was the better game in my opinion. Hogwarts is great fun for anyone who grew up with the books & films but also for anyone interesting in a school of wizardry & the foes you meet in & around it. Immortals Fenyx Rising was a good title, better than i thought was going to be. Open worlds are an intriguing genre but they are also hard to get right, sometimes a more dense smaller open world works better. Rockstar tend to have it down especially with the likes of RDR2 being the pinnacle of crafting an open world which beckons the player back, truly an astounding piece of work, great characters, story & a world which feels bustling one moment & empty & desolate the next but always befitting of the environment. I eagerly await GTA 6, i hope a lot of what they learned with RDR2 finds it's way into it, obviously some features won't work as they will not fit the fast paced nature of a GTA title but many may help the world they create for us feel more engaging & not just window dressing.
Days Gone, huh? I started playing it. I got as far as when the MC is looking through encampments for someone. But something; I can’t place my finger on it, didn’t keep me hooked. I don’t know if it’s the aesthetics. The pacing, maybe. I feel the same way about RDR2. They both have the same feel to me. I loved CP2077, the Horizon games, The Witcher games, Spider-Man games, Watch Dogs games, Assassin’s Creed games, God of War games, Yakuza games, Zelda games, the Fallout games etc. But for some odd reason, these two games seem slow and didn’t evoke initial urgency like other game series have.
Days gone had so much potential but by the time u find what ur looking for (no spoilers) it gets even more dull and theres no enemy variety. However if ever there was a sequel and they improved upon it, then I would give it another chance . As for the rest of the list tho big W! Im still in doubt im Star Wars outlaws. We shall see. Ghost of Tsushima is probably my favorite so far.
While playing Cyberpunk on PS5, there aren't any glitches now that really impact the gameplay. For the amazing game that it is, I think there's no point mentioning this issue again and again. Just saying only for this game.. I enjoy watching your videos overall😊
i just cant play rdr2 due to the framerate. might sound like a nitpick, but the game just feels slow and mushy. different story on pc, but for christ sakes rockstar, just patch the game for ps5
I finished ghost of tsushima and loved it. I picked up hogwarts again where i left it and bought fc5 on xmas sale for my ps5 for the story. Still have to finish zero dawn befire i wabt to start forbidden west

I am currently playing HFW Burning Shores after finishing the main story for the second time! But this time I Platinum the main story and upgraded to Legendary Weapons and I must say it’s a different game when you do this, making your own built is amazing. I never used the Bolt Caster before and now it’s my favorite weapon if used properly! But the game I’ve gone back too the most has to be The Witcher 3 because of all the different choices you can make in each play through. So I can’t wait for The Witcher 4 and Horizon 3!!!!! Both are classics in my book.❤
The thing about no man's sky is if you're first to the planet you get to name it, there's a whole section of space with about 40 planets called England is Gay with sequential numbers following 1,2,3,4,,,and so on.
I named the first one when Harry Kane equalised in the last few minutes against Scotland, when I was still full of rage, and I kept the trend going thinking how funny it would be for an Englishman discovering a new planet and thinking wtf, leaving that one for the next one to be the same then their trapped for a while with every planet nearby called it 😂
Awesome list! The Horizon games are in my periphery, and will probably be in my collection in the future. I ABSOLUTELY love Hogwarts legacy. I have about 30 hrs in, and it has mostly been spent exploring and enjoying the atmosphere. I feel like I'm at Hogwarts as a new student, and the game is just amazing! The whole controversy doesn't phase me, because I have completely separated JK from my personal enjoyment of everything HP. I've been a fan for too long, and it is too ingrained in my life. This is also shared by a lot of the fans in the HP universe, and it is evident at the HP conventions (which have been the MOST inclusive conventions I've ever been to). I loved what I played of Ghosts of Tsushima, but have set it aside because I want to give it the focus and time it deserves. RDR2 is an absolutely AMAZING game! The majority of my time played has been the online version, but I love Arthur as a character, so I'm slowly making my way through the story as well. I hope this isn't breaking rules....but the Zelda games have been AMAZING!!

Ive beat both still play red dead 2. Its my top game still as of 2024. ONly put 60 hours in ghost of tushima where im at 500+ with red dead 2

Kingdom come, RDR2 and Witcher 3 are hands down TOP 3 some best open worlds of all time. Ghost of Tushimia is also really good, Far Cry Primal is also good if you play it on Hardcore it really adds alot to the game such a unique setting for a game also. Not including older PS2 games like GTA but they are some of best on the market. Skyrim and GTA5 are fantastic open worlds and Fallout 4 is worth checking out. Its honestly hard to find good open wolrd games on PS4 and PS5. Elden Ring and HFW are good open worlds but I can not think of many over open worlds were the open world is actually good.
Just watched and went through my games and another open world I think is deserving a mention is Mad Max on the PS4. I thought that game was absolutely brilliant
My son got into Anime. I downloaded PS5 Genshin Impact and PS5 Honkai:Star Rail. Both are FREE. He enjoy them a lot . I try it and unexpectedly I got hooked on them too. Gorgous open worlds they are. Just amaze they’re free and look really great. Genshin is action rpg,Rail is turn based rpg . Anime may not be for everyone but the game is a nice different feel

I had fun getting the plats for AC Odyssey, Valhalla even if they were a huge timesink, Witcher 3, Death Stranding directors cut, GOT on PS4 before the PS5 edition with the Iki island expansion, Spiderman & Miles Morales, Mafia: Definitive Edition, Days Gone on ps4 before the 60fps boost on PS5, Horizon Zero Dawn & Forbidden West, Mad Max & Watchdogs 2 amongst others. GTA V has a fun open world but GTA IV was the better game in my opinion. Hogwarts is great fun for anyone who grew up with the books & films but also for anyone interesting in a school of wizardry & the foes you meet in & around it. Immortals Fenyx Rising was a good title, better than i thought was going to be. Open worlds are an intriguing genre but they are also hard to get right, sometimes a more dense smaller open world works better. Rockstar tend to have it down especially with the likes of RDR2 being the pinnacle of crafting an open world which beckons the player back, truly an astounding piece of work, great characters, story & a world which feels bustling one moment & empty & desolate the next but always befitting of the environment. I eagerly await GTA 6, i hope a lot of what they learned with RDR2 finds it's way into it, obviously some features won't work as they will not fit the fast paced nature of a GTA title but many may help the world they create for us feel more engaging & not just window dressing.

Days Gone, huh? I started playing it. I got as far as when the MC is looking through encampments for someone. But something; I can’t place my finger on it, didn’t keep me hooked. I don’t know if it’s the aesthetics. The pacing, maybe. I feel the same way about RDR2.
They both have the same feel to me.
I loved CP2077, the Horizon games, The Witcher games, Spider-Man games, Watch Dogs games, Assassin’s Creed games, God of War games, Yakuza games, Zelda games, the Fallout games etc.
But for some odd reason, these two games seem slow and didn’t evoke initial urgency like other game series have.
The problem with this channel is that it’s a bit repetitive. A lot of his videos are the same just titled differently.

Days gone had so much potential but by the time u find what ur looking for (no spoilers) it gets even more dull and theres no enemy variety. However if ever there was a sequel and they improved upon it, then I would give it another chance . As for the rest of the list tho big W! Im still in doubt im Star Wars outlaws. We shall see. Ghost of Tsushima is probably my favorite so far.

While playing Cyberpunk on PS5, there aren't any glitches now that really impact the gameplay. For the amazing game that it is, I think there's no point mentioning this issue again and again. Just saying only for this game.. I enjoy watching your videos overall😊
yeah there's still a lot of frame drops in crowded areas which also leads to screen tearing

I finished ghost of tsushima and loved it. I picked up hogwarts again where i left it and bought fc5 on xmas sale for my ps5 for the story. Still have to finish zero dawn befire i wabt to start forbidden west
