Have you tried a single UAC20 with cooldown nodes? 1.12 cooldown in the end, you get around 60 to 80 damage before people react to being shot. It's a great time.
@@VanBurenPhilips I got the Blackhawk to support them coming out with more IS Omnis in the future. But it is actually rather fun. I very rarely put IS XLs in anything 50 tons or over, so adjusting my playstyle has been really interesting, but rewarding.
The 60% cooldown is hilarious with a single big gun- even an AC/10 or AC/20, and you can strip some armor off the empty arm to give you even more armor- but you get +40 ammo for a big ol' AC/20, which works great with even a few tons of ammo and you can squeeze a few small lasers in the torso to go with.
If you want a fun one that does a shocking amount of damage, try 2 medium pulses on the body and 10 ER Smalls in the arms! It hits harder than most might think, runs fairly cool, and has a fast cooldown!
I've been using 2x Light AC/5 and 2x Light PPC on mine. I have .1s longer cooldown, but every 3s, I can deal another 11 damage from the PPCs. It's worth it imho.

lmao nice catch, saw a guy running an Incubus with 0 armor the other day, he did 600+ dmg with just a stupid amount of heavy laser vomit. I don't remember the exact amount but it was at least 2 HLLs and a bunch of HML's as well, he was basically just deleting people and somehow didn't die
so what is the ruling on a side torso loss? is it the same with Battlemech IS XL engines where you are killed on any sidetorso loss or having to lose both sidetorsos like with IS light engines/Clan XL engines afterall?
tbh, the very low weapon hardpoints are the worst thing on this mech, you must expose your whole mech to shoot something and with the xl vulnerability it is really not great
It requires those quirks because it's horribly inefficient. No structure or armor upgrades, means you need low weight, large weapon systems, aka lasers and double heatsinks, to be efficient. Probably better off with the Centurion over this, as it has the same cooldown, and you can use a different engine as well as having 2 energy hardpoints on top of it.
To my knowledge the highest speeds will be 165 kph on locust, spider and Incubus I believe. The fleas with mascs can get around 171 kph but it's not constant, they regularly go around 140 kph without masc activated.
@@ix8750 Thank you for the reply. Baradul has a video of a flea with narc going 177.6 (/watch?v=rU9t26EbxS8), and i'm fairly certain i've seen the number 186 somewhere once, though I don't remember on which mech. Things might have changed since though.
@@ix8750 well apparently they limited things to 170 (177) kph because of latency issues and fast moving things don't go well together. So i can't have seen that 186. I should just google things, instead of asking on youtube. But again thank you for the (accurate) reply.
it is about 18 dps, that is certainly not insane, my blackjack with xpulse is at 25dps (a medium not a heavy like the bhku), btw can the cauldron please nerf the bj 1x with 8 mxpl, this thing is absolutely op to come back to the bhku, you can shave some leg armor (ok a lot) and put 2 UAC5 and then the double tapping will really generate some huge dps
Love your builds. I am actually disappointed in the Blackhawk. Torso speed even with taking all the nodes is really slow. You can't take on light mechs. I'll take my linebackers over this mech its much better at destroying lights. Happy hunting.
It's not that good. It's basically like having 2 AC5 with 1 additional AC2 on a 60t mech. Nothing super-crazy. Small laser build is waaay more fun to play
The innersphere could not reproduce clan engine tech, so the extra size of the engine, made the mech larger, thus heavier. In game this is done with the extra fat cheeks to give it the 60 ton volume. So both the Nova and BH should be the same overall hieght and width. BH just chunkier.
Good video. I do not like this mech myself. The build you showed here has been the "only" build worth a darn with this mech. This mech has omnipods. So it should be universal. It is not. You can not support heat management if you go with lasers. You can not remove the heavy engine so players just target your left or right torso. This mech is squishy. Again. This build on this mech that has omnipods is the only build worth a darn. So why have omnipods? If any of you found another build with the black hawk that is good. Please share. RACS jam all the time on this mech. Regardless if you put points into the skill tree for RACS or not. Out of all the mech I have. None of them jam while using RACS as much as this mech does.
The fact this does not have an SB Gauss ammo quirk is criminal. Yet it has a Heavy Gauss ammo quirk... despite it being impossible to mount a Heavy Gauss on it.
The mech does not have ammo quirks for LAC's. So it has better heat, DPS, and lower weight when using regular AC5's, so LAC5's are simply inferior in every way on this mech. -You would need 10 tonnes of LAC5 ammo to match the ammo for 2x tonnes of AC5 ammo.- LAC ammo quirks don't show on MechDb, but they are there, my mistake.

The reasons I went with AC5s over LAC5s are: better cooldown, better heat, better range to keep your XL torsos safer, and only one projectile per gun so it's more precise. The Nova (D maybe?) with a set of 8 build turns an AC 2 into a RAC2 for clans. Pretty funny. 3 rounds per second makes it the same dps even.

I put LBX5s on mine. It's fun as hell.
Light 5s, so I wouldn't have to sacrifice armor, was able to add sinks, ER Mediums, and a third tone of ammo!

I'm confused here. Are you getting +160 AC5 shots PER TON?? +80 for each omni pod = 160 extra. So 2 tons of ammo is giving you 412 shots? Really?
Each arm gives +200% ammo on ballistics. So each ton counts as 5 tons of ammo.

With IS XL you die from losing a single side torso.

Yes an Innerphere copy of the Nova. They couldnt reproduce the clan engine tech, which made the mech slightly larger, and thus, heavier.
