    Thank you so much for posting this video. I have had mine for about 4 years now and was never one hundred percent sure as to how to use it correctly. I sure will be watching this video a few more times to really learn how to use my Bounty hunter Legacy 2500 which has the exact same screen on it. Thanks again from Canada/

      Thanks. I actually do have a question. Is the coil able to be submerged in water as long as I don't get the box wet? I have some shallow rivers and creeks around me that I would love to explore with it. And keep up the great videos. I am really enjoying them. :) Too bad we lived so far apart. I would definitely join you on a hunt or a magnet fishing excursion. :)

      Heyas Simone- You are correct the coil is 100% waterproof and can be submerged but as you said just be careful not to drop the control box in the water. I hear you my friend, always better to have a friend along for the hunt. Be safe out there exploring the waterways and thanks for all the kind words.

    Thanks for the EXCELLENT instruction video. I just bought one for my wife and myself as we do a lot of boondocking ( wild RVing without paying for space or hydro ) and often find ourselves in some wild places. Haven't yet used it and will probably start by detecting on beaches and such where the digging is easy until we get the hang of it.
    Your video is absolutely the best of all the ones I have watched and I want to thank you again for making it.
    Cheers from Canada North

    What a great video, very informative ... I have had my 2200 for 3 years and was never using it anywhere near it's full potential, I don't think it was ever in Disc mode. Thank you for sharing what you know.

  • @Seemsayin

    Thank you RB, for taking the time to pass on your knowledge about this detector. I've owned mine for a few years. Until I saw your video, I wasn't sure how to navigate the screen, nor did I know much about discrimination, despite reading the manual a few times. Really appreciate you making the effort to shed some light on the subject.
    I would like to add... Someone asked about batteries. Use (2) 9-Volt ALKALINE batteries. Although I am not certain, I have heard that using rechargeable batteries is NOT recommended.
    Also... do NOT use anything labeled "heavy duty". Could have something to do with added voltage, which could potentially damage the electronics. Last... do NOT leave batteries in your machine when you're not using it. Through experience, I've noticed that leaving batteries in the machine will drain them. I don't know if all detectors are like that, or if Harbor Freight batteries are junk. But I found that removing them after I'm done keeps them around a little longer.
    Definitely a beginner model. But after a few hours of swinging, digging & listening to the beeping... there's really nothing hard about it. The grip & elbow rest make it comfortable. It's lightweight.

    I bought this detector used and didn't have the manual ( Yes I could have downloaded one I suppose ) so luckily I came across you and your video and just wanted to thank you a ton for all the instructions, I'm heading to a beach tomorrow to put it to use.
    One question though... Is there a way to adjust the screen brightness ?
    Thanks again from B.C. Canada greatly appreciated nice job.>

    Thanks so much for this ! I'm Canadian but living in England for the past six years. I've been dying to try my hand at metal detecting over here. It's my birthday today and my boyfriend just came back from Costco with this machine . I'm sooooo excited ! 😜 You can imagine how great it would be to metal detect over here with all of the history. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind? Can you tell me the deepest find you have detected? Also , how long do the batteries last and would you use rechargeable? Thanks! Btw , have you ever heard of mud larking ?

    • @AmericanDetection
      @AmericanDetection  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello and welcome to the hobby! You are in an amazing place to be a detectorist! This machine can detect a coin sized target at 9 inches but much deeper on larger targets. Your batteries should last approximately 20-25 hours if you use headphones you can extend this by a few hours. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    Does anyone have issues with false hits? I can touch the coil on grass and it will give me a hit. I have even held up the coil and tapped my hand on the underside of the coil and it gives a hit? What am I doing wrong? Or do I just have a bad unit?
    Love you video by the way it is easily the best explanation of this machine.

    • @AmericanDetection
      @AmericanDetection  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Shorty Monro- This should not be happening. Try un-plugging your coil cable and check for any debris (dirt/dust, etc.) then plug the cable back in making sure the cable is firmly plugged in. If this doesn’t fix the falsing issue you probably have a bad coil. This unit has a 5 year warranty and Bounty Hunter will fix/replace the unit as needed. You can email their customer service at info@frsttx.com . Good luck!

      RB's Variety Channel thank you very much after emailing bounty hunter and getting my proof of purchase I believe I am able to have this repaired at no cost to me besides cost of shipping. I am in Tasmania Australia so I would imagine it will be gone for a long while however it has been just sitting 8n the shed so a little longer doesn’t really concern me. I will have a brand new machine when I get it back. Cheers again and thanks to you I am going to be able to work my discovery 2200 to its full capabilities.

    • @Seemsayin
      @Seemsayin 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Shorty.
      I know it's been about 6 months since you asked about false signaling. However...
      Per the manual:
      You may encounter some false
      signals as you proceed. False signals occur when the detector beeps, but no metal target is present. False signals can be induced by electromagnetic interference, oxidation, or highly mineralized ground soils. If the detector beeps once, but does not repeat the signal with several additional sweeps over the same spot, there is probably no target present.
      When searching very trashy ground,
      it is best to scan small areas with slow, short sweeps. You will be surprised just how much trash metal and foil you will find in some areas. The trashiest areas have been frequented by the most people, and frequently hold the most promise for finding the most lost valuables. Also maintain the searchcoil positioned just above the surface of the ground, without making contact with the ground. Making contact with the ground can cause false signals.
      You can find the manual for this model here: www.detecting.com/manuals/DISC2200%20%20REV%202%20%2002.25.11%20-%20Printer.pdf

Then back to metric I was used to couple decades later as Canada converted. I can use both. But the inch system is incredibly complex. Many system slapped together in fact. Inch system, Foot system, Yard system, Mile system and of course the worse of all the fraction system. In metric just one number, moving decimal points back and forth. No calculation. From millimeter all the way to kilometer.
