    I have a Hollywood bike Rack $299.
    $15 at Home Depot I purchased 36 inch angle iron cut down to 17 inches each that I inserted inside the square tubing
    The rack is rated for 80 lbs per bike but inserting angle iron inside the square tubing which you cannot see will increase the weight limit substantially.
    Looking at your video you get what you pay for and the Hollywood is substantially beefier at the tilt point.

    One reason that this rack is rated for 200lbs is that the frame tubing on the rack is 2". The Hollywood and some other racks only have 1-1/4" frame tubing.

      Insert angle iron ($15) from Home Depot inside the square tubing which you cannot see and you just nearly doubled the weight limit and the overall weight is not even noticeable.

    Nice video, but I just bought this Fultyme RV 1300 hitch mount bike rack and I have bolts on my bottom mount where the arms can come upwards to fold it away. Yours appears to have pins everywhere. That looks easier to me than these darn bolts with the lock nuts on them that don't allow the bolts to be locked in place really rather wierd. Don't think I can attach a photo or I would.

    I bought this rack. It's solid at the hitch but a lot of play were it folds. 7:31 Is there a solution for that? Flops around back there.
    Also, the Velcro straps that came with it were not long enough for a fat tire and I bought longer non-Velcro straps for the tires.

      @EbikeEscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not that I am aware of. Good to know about the fat tires. The RadWagon has 3 inch wide tires and the straps worked with that ebike so maybe the 4 inch ones are just too wide for the stock straps. Hope your bike is ok!

      @@blitztim6416 I have this bike carrier and yes the Velcro straps aren't very long but if you only put them over one of the wheel holders and around the tire rims and cinch them down it works great. Trick is to have enough strap left to ensure the Velcro can fully secure itself to the other end.

    • @blitztim6416
      @blitztim6416 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just bought new straps. I also had to put a bolt where it hinges to keep it from flopping around. Plus straps to keep the wheel holders from sagging, and one from the hitch to the top brass eyelet for added stability. Those wheel holders sag no matter how tight I get them. I'd send a picture if I could post it here. The rack works with some modifying.

    I just bought one of these racks and it seems to be heavy and well built except for one thing. My tire cradles tilt downward quite a bit. It seems that where the square portion of the cradle slides over the square tubing it is a little larger than it needs to be and as a consequence even when tightened it is able to twist on the square tubing. It probably is not enough to be of concern however I continue to worry about it. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this? I was able to adjust my rack so that the securing hooks clamp down over the seats. We have two step through fat tire Ecotric Dolphins.

    If the Hollywood appears to be be built better & beefier then why is the weight rating lower than this one? Is this one rated with no margin of safety whereas the Hollywood is rated with a safety margin factored in? If I have a 80 lb. bike and an 85 lb. bike (with batteries removed) would I be better off (safety-wise) with the Fultyme or surpassing the rating of the Hollywood by 5 lbs. ? @@robh063 that’s because any rack that is on the back of an RV needs to withstand a lot more force with all the bouncing around and only RV approved racks should be used in that application. Having had my bicycles twist off a bumper on my rig was a hard lesson learned. I will only use RV approved racks on the back of a camper. Even better is putting the bike rack in the front of a pick up truck. Much less force and you can keep an eye on them too.

    Hi Ryan, here are some bikes i"ve been reviewing trying to make a decision on build quality, support and range. Super 73-S1, Ariel D-class, x- class, Rize-liberty and Rize- blade what do you think?

    • @EbikeEscape
      @EbikeEscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All good options. I have not ridden any Super73 or Rize ebikes so not much help there. But I will say that the X-Class is probably the best value out of the bunch and still packs some serious speed/torque even though they did increase the price to 1,599. Hopefully I will be getting my hands on a D Class soon to review. I've ridden an AWD ebike and the performance in snow and sand is unmatched. Maybe this doesn't matter where you live though

  • @slurpyman20
    @slurpyman20 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah i dunno if this rack would really hold 200 even if it says in specs. Just looking at the design and construction and comparing to the hollywood rack, the hollywood is better designed more reinforced and its rating is a bit less. So id be very very sketchy to load 2 heavy bikes up and be confident itll hold up long term or on a long trip with rough roads

    • @EbikeEscape
      @EbikeEscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My brother used this on a long trip with no issues. But yes, I agree it isn't as heavy duty as the Hollywood Racks one. But it's also a fraction of the cost. Best plan is to reduce weight as much as possible by removing batteries before loading.

When arrived it was very simple to adjust and put together. I also added spike tape over the metal hooks before securing and tightening the straps, and no scratches. I also purchased the top bar made by the same company so that my cruiser sits straight on the rack without having to turn upside down. Extra bungee cords are used to secure the front wheel from flapping and even piece of mind knowing your bike is secure. Definitely recommend...

    I would not tryst these rebranded bike racks to do what they say. I know they say 200lbs but I bet they are not industry standard tested or UL rated. Where as Hollywood or 1UP might say 350lbs but I bet they are rated for 500lbs to deal with stresses like bumps that will spike the weight applied well beyond 200lbs. Just my 2 cents but spend the money on a rack that will stand behind and have a brand they care about tarnishing when they are wrong. They will care more about ensuring they are properly stress tested and engineered. Just my two cents though as a guy that just bought the 1up super duty with the add on for $870USD, they are not cheap..
