Hello Join! We just wanted to reach out and say a big thank you for creating such a lovely and informative video about Hoi An. It was really kind of you to take the time to feature our restaurant, Chickpea Eatery, and we're so grateful for your support. We loved having you and we hope you'll come back and visit us again soon🎉🌱🙏💚✨
After visiting Vietnam and Hoi an several times my wife and I moved to Hoi an last January. We are loving it more and more each day! Its a beautiful town with the friendliest people! This is an amazingly gorgeous country with some of the world's best scenery but what sold us is the people of Vietnam they're the the heart and soul of this country! Long live Vietnam! Sam Adler
Goodday John, What a great video bought back so many memories when my partner Kellie & I were in Vietnam for a wedding in September 2019. Staying in Da Nang we traveled everyday to Hoi An with the local bus the locals use. It was so much fun watching 5bus conductor scooping up the school kids into the bus whilst the bus was still in motion at 1 kph, being the only Westerners on the bus the children would practice their English with Kellie because she is so eell versed in the English language. Best Banh Mi in Vietnam was at Hoi An at the bus terminal still remember to this day only 22,000 dong. Best Vegetarian Restaurant was in Hoi An this unbelievable restaurant even Kellie who is a vegetarian still talks about it to this day. Even I was impressed & blown away. In the back streets of Hoi An not in the tourist area got the business card somewhere but look forward to returning soon. Had beautiful linen pants made, beautiful sandals that I still use today. We got flooded out also when we stayed 2 nights but still swimming in the pool drinking local beer in the rain it was a magical feeling. A few negatives, the sand was washed away from the local beach because they changed the course of a river for a golf course so sad to see. The amount of rubbish in the waterway under the ancient Japanese bridge mostly plastic bags was sad to see considering the significant cultural value. But overall fantastic memories, beautiful people, lots of beautiful buildings but do try the local bus between Da Nang & Hoi An worth the experience. Great video as always. Currently airfares between Australia & Vietnam are more than triple in value before the pandemic which hurts. Stay safe Stay dry Your number 1 Fan in Australia Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍 ❤
Hey Louis, just to let you know didn’t see any garbage at all around the covered bridge. Sounds like a wonderful visit and I’m sure you’ll have plenty of more opportunities to make indelible memories here. Take care and thanks as always for your support!
Hubby and ihave just been to Hoi An loved it wish to go back some day . HOI an is better to raise children . DA NANG IS TO BIG LIKE A CITY .IT IS CALLED Miami over there . To many high rise yo many hotels .
I like your Hoi An video. It brings back lots of memories from my visits there. The information on the visitor pass was very confusing though. At no time was it ever compulsory for people to buy the pass to visit the old town. The pass is strictly only for certain buildings and sites, much like a museum pass. In the past it was fairly common for touts and con artists to stop people and try to "fine" them or force them to buy a pass. But it was by no means an official requirement to visit the old town. In the several visits I've made to Hoi An I've never been approached regarding the pass except upon entry to one of the 21 official sites.
Thanks very much! Yes it is an official requirement confirmed by the officials at the ticket booths. I also have never been asked but the ticket sellers said they do have staff sometimes check for passes and will only ask for people to buy a pass if they don’t have one on the street. It doesn’t surprise me that touts or con artists try to take advantage of the situation.
@@iamjohnsaboe hi John, can i know do they have sharing public transport from danang to hoi an? Mini van, shutter or something? I am travelling alone. Thanks
being a Vietnamese myself, I am ashamed to say that I haven't even visited Hoi An once. But it has been on top of my to-go list for a long time. I am living in Tokyo and thinking of moving to Hoi An or Da Nang to live with my family (two boys). Do you have any recommendation on places to settle down. Hoi An is beautiful but is it better than Da Nang in term of raising kids who don't speak Vietnamese? Thank you!! Your voice is so soothing to listen to.
Professionally narrated. Thank you for this very informative vlog. I will be visiting Hoi An in July and this vlog gave me an idea what to expect and what to see.
Very nice video, very professionally narrated. I know you can't predict the future, but do you think the Da Nang/Hoi An/Hue area will have fully recovered from the recent Typhoons around Xmas/NYE? I may be planning a trip there. Many thanks from a fellow Canadian!
Thanks very much! If it helps give you more peace of mind October is typically the worst month in the region but as you would expect, no guarantees. Hope you have an enjoyable visit!
John, nice to view your vlog on Hoi An. I didn't know about the visitors pass when I was there Sept 22 and 23. Walked around the old market area one morning. It was wonderful. The folks were smiling and I heard a lot of hellos. Ate at a really nice restaurant one night for reasonable price. Had been in Da Nang previously for three nights. On the second day my girlfriend from Saigon was bored so we went back to Da Nang to catch a flight back to Saigon...we just missed the huge storm that rolled through later on the 24th. anyway it was a great visit. I came back to California October 5th after 26 days there. I will return March 22 through April 10th (my usual trip time). Headed to Sanremo end of October for new 'retired' life. Your adventures and documentation has kept a lot of us in the loop these past few years of the situation. Many thanks. Hope to enjoy a Bahn Mi with you one of these days. Ciao for now from beautiful Napa, CA
Thanks Bobby for sharing your travels here and I wish you the very best of luck and good fortune with your future plans! A banh mi sounds great! Cheers! John
I thought that you are American . The worst accents in VN are in Nghê An , Ha Tinh , Quang Binh , Quang Tri and Thua Thiên provinces ( all in Central Vietnam ) . The best accent is the traditional , aristocratic Hanoian one . The majority of the TV/Radio announcers and singers have to speak and sing with this accent . The Saigonese accent is also OK
Hello John, I've been watching your videos for a while and i really like them. Anyway, I think you don't have so much free time. My name is Valerio Faraglia (Italy), and I'm a video editor. If you are intrested in having somebody who edits your videos so you will have much more free time, tell me or check my mail in the information section of my channel. If you just want to try, I can edit the first video for free to show what I can do. Also, there would be another advantage for your channel because since I live in Rome, I would edit during the night in USA, so you would have your video ready to be published in the morning. Thank you.

What a wonderful story! Glad you found your paradise here!
How you living there? What kind of Visa?
I read you cannot live a long time in Vietnam you must renew the Visa every certain time and is not a permanent living in there 😢

Vietnam could be better if the people stopped littering indiscriminately and kept it nice and clean like the Japanese.

Walking in a market with a bunch of scooters was something that was hard for me to adjust to with not much personal space.
Sharing space is just part of everyday life here.
Hi John! I've been wondering how you are doing there, with the multiple windy/rainy storms that have come through. Great to see another video!

It’s actually a track I created using a Vietnamese loop of a violin and some ambient music. It’s not available commercially.
