With time se Electronics and Earthworks audio became the 2 brands that I prefer. If earthworks is more exclusive, sE has a great range of products at a very competitive prices. From the different reviews I watched already, a bright clear sound is something commun to most of their products. The V7 is definitely the one I would recommend for many different types of use. I really liked the fact that you added a test in a non treated room. I believe you should dig more into this, trying to get the best out of it, because many content creators (and it's the target of this mic) don't have a fully treated room or a studio or a booth. If you digg well enough, you might discover something who is going to change everything in the industry...🤔
If I purchased dynamic mic, Dynacaster would be very likely my choise. Nice review! I subscribed. ;-) I adobe strategic placement of the shirts in your booth. :-D
I my humble opinion, the se electronics v7x sounds better than both the dcm8 and sm7b... especially if you use it with a fethead (which is kind of overkill because the mic doesn't really need a fethead, but it does still benefit).
Wish you tried the dynacaster closer to your mouth in the untreated room :\ I think that’s how you’re supposed to use a dynamic mic anyway. Close to the lips
In one of my other mic reviews, In that untreated test, I told the audience that the mic isn't as far from my mouth as it looks due to the wide angle lens I'm using in that space. I just don't say it for every review because I forget 😵
@@JamesYounger gotcha! Just kind of odd how resonant the room is 🧐 I’ve used sm57 in extremely bad rooms with huge reverb, but it sounds like I’m in a booth when I just talked really close to the mic
@@wm1573 Oh yeah, dynamic mics definitely do a better job at rejecting rooms but that's a completely untreated bathroom. Nothing but reflective surfaces in their. I like to give extreme examples to push the mics to the limits. Give this video a watch if you feel like it: th-cam.com/video/pQ-X1Sv2jtM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NYcNbOderg8u-mXS super eye opening video about foam and acoustics.

Thank you for mentioning that dynamic mics should become a norm in the VO industry! It just makes a lot of sense.
Fantastic video! This was very helpful!
This was a fantastic review and comparison video… thank you very much.
Great review James! The B roll, intro music and editing really leveled up the quality of the video 👏

Absolutely love this mic. I use it for my podcast. For streaming I use my Earthworks Ethos.
Also, I have the same shirt! #TWINS
