Very valuable info I appreciate the vid! Just a note, for comparisons like the one starting at 2:43 showing the difference in plosives with the filter on/off, I think it's much more helpful to hear them back to back immediately. It makes it easier for the viewer to compare. Like if we skipped the shot of you putting the filter back ( 2:46 ) which had a pretty unpleasant sound that we don't need to hear, and also skipped you explaining that the filter is back on, because we already know that, and you just went straight to the next "Peter Piper..." that type of direct comparison makes the difference clearer. Again not a big deal, just being nitpicky and wanted to share my thoughts. Appreciate you!
Help needed with Rode Podcaster! I tried using the USB C Podcast mic directly to my MacBook Pro with and without the rode caster app and the volume is very low. I contacted Rode and they said that it was a known problem, and that it works better with an external unit (like the rode caster console) which defeats the purpose of the USBC connection. I had to talk directly into the mic (less than one inch from my lips) or raise my voice to a point that it was uncomfortable to read a paragraph. Did anyone find this issue and was able to resolve it? Thanks in advance 🙏
We've switched to recording podcast episodes live at events, pop filters have become priority number 1 after no longer being indoors in a controlled environment.
I don't know who says audio makes up 50% of the viewing experience lol, it completely depends what you're viewing! For example if you're watching a podcast then audio is >90% of your viewing experience, if you're watching boats in rough seas then audio is
You're welcome. Thanks for taking the time to watch. I really appreciate it! The Blue Yeti is a very common starting point. But I love that you started with your phone and got to it!
All the principles here apply to lav mic's as well. Do the fist (👊🏽) or (🤙🏽) test, so the lav is about that far from your mouth on your shirt. That will give you the best sounding audio. As well, with a lav, be very mindful of the environment. If the room is large, you will get an echo no matter what.

Such a good channel! You are a very smart man.
Those are great tips, I have a Blue Yeti mic but have not used it yet as currently recording my videos with a smart phone and not desktop or laptop.
You're welcome. Thanks for taking the time to watch. I really appreciate it!
The Blue Yeti is a very common starting point.
But I love that you started with your phone and got to it!
Fire hook made me click from the explore page
Appreciate you watching my guy! Hope it helped!
Do you have any tips for lav mics?
