- Set to the ver underrated Bad Company's "Company of Strangers".
Yes, he is still alive, but we can do a tribute to him, raise a Coors banquet to the man none the less. Best known for his voice and his moustache he found himself type cast in Westerns and frontier movies. However, he has been able to show a much wider range first as a bad ass biker and then marine, and later in movies like Contender, Hero, and A Star is Born.
To a younger generation they know him from The Ranch and Parks & Rec. We knew him though as Wade Garrett, Sgt. Maj. Plumley, and of course as "The Stranger".
There is a great video though that will open your eyes to the true actor, the thespian behind the gruff appearance. I wanted to find a way to work it into the video but wasn't able. It just goes to show you that there are many ways to "be a man", but there are some traits that are common amongst all true men. If you want you can check it out here.

My 89 year old brother missed the opportunity to have Thanksgiving dinner with Sam in 2022 . He fell ill and ended up in the hospital he was really looking forward to it. Sam is a legend.

There's not many of those left, either. Everyone's a f--kin' snowflake these days. But, I'd say Cher is probably among the top 10. Especially in her younger days. Pink (the singer) is certainly bad-ass and I think she would compliment Sam well if she ever chose to do acting and they were put on screen together. Patsy Cline, in her day. She took shit from no one. There's a lot of bad ass musicians, but as far as actresses go, I'm not entirely sure. I don't watch too many females on screen. I'm more zoned in on how manly the men are. LOL. Are they wearing man buns and skinny jeans, and I'm judging them silently in my mind. LOL. Just kidding. Dolly is a good start, though. I like to think of myself as bad-ass to a certain degree. I met him once. I was filling up my car, in uniform, at a gas station on my way to the L.A. County Sheriff’s station in Malibu, California. He was extremely polite. I noted how thin he was. I met him another time while directing traffic during the “Big Rock” blockage of the Pacific Coast Highway. Same impression!

I know he kinda gets pigeonholed as some "time displaced cowboy" because of most of his roles, but that man can pull off a "biker" better than most of Hollywood! Gar & Wade were always two of my favorite characters of his growing up!

I first saw him in a mini tv series back in 77 i think when i was 12 i fell for him on the spot. Still fancy him no matter how old he is, his voice is just as drool worthy. Thanks for this, it popped up on my feed out of nowhere and its just made my day 🥰🇬🇧

I really enjoyed this tribute to Sam Elliott. Didn't know he was so funny. A great actor and role model. I don't remember when he started, but I recognized him right away. Even when I first saw him on the screen. That smile of his is one you never forget. Standing tall smiling, and serious as a heart attack. When he talks, you always listen. Especially the women. As a Baby Boomer I've seen a lot of great Cowboys growing up, starting with the great Randolph Scott. He is the last of the classic looking Cowboys to me. Ride on Sam!

I saw Lifeguard at the drive-in! But my all-time favorite role of Sam Elliott was Sam Damon in the 1976 TV mini series 'Once An Eagle' following his army career from WWI through WWII. Stellar acting, and Hollywood did an amazing job aging him to almost what he looks like today!

Great character actor. In "Murder in Texas", Sam managed to be both charming & attractive, yet unquestionably sinister. Plus, he & his wife, the ever so beautiful Kathryn Ross, got to work together. Their chemistry on-screen was sizzling.
