Im always will be grateful for Glee, because there are so many broadway shows, or even pop singers, rock bands, that I WOULDN'T KNOW and LOVE because if it wasn't for Glee
Same… I admit back in 2010 when my family asked if I wanted to be a part of taking my grandmother to NYC to see Phantom of the Opera , I was less than enthused... But I went because it was for my grandmother. We were so lucky to have had our seats front row center(literally saw orchestra under the stage , and actors faces sooooo close, it was awesome) , and by the end of the show I was in tears. because it was that good. So moving .. And I also admit due to watching Glee and their characters love of Broadway, as well as filming in NYC later seasons, it gave me a new appreciation for Broadway. There are so many shows I want to see now. Wicked especially . But there are definitely others. And multiple songs that I might have never heard of if it wasn’t for Glee.

I'd have to say because the Broadway clips were live performances, were just a little better, however the live performances by Amber Riley and Lea Michelle being beyond perfect makes it and even match. Broadway and Glee are truly magical and both have made life so very exciting, romantic, beautiful and makes everyone who has experienced both want so much more from both Broadway and Glee
I've had the opportunity to watch a Funny Girl rendition in France right before covid hit. And that was the most jaw dropping musical, wish I could turn back time and hear our genious Barbara Streisand sing it.
Glee revolutionized how Broadway standards are perceived, taking them from niche or “old-fashioned” territory to a mainstream, modern cultural phenomenon. Before Glee, musical theatre was often regarded as elitist or out-of-touch, reserved for die-hard fans or those with access to Broadway productions. However, Glee succeeded in democratizing and revitalizing this art form, making it relatable and exciting for a new generation of viewers. First and foremost, Glee broke down the barriers between Broadway classics and popular music. Iconic songs like Don’t Rain on My Parade (Funny Girl), Defying Gravity (Wicked), and On My Own (Les Misérables) were reinterpreted within the context of teenage drama, friendships, and self-discovery. These songs were no longer confined to grand theatre stages but instead found their way into everyday life, reintroducing them to a younger, more diverse audience. By contextualizing Broadway’s emotional depth in relatable, modern settings, Glee shed the “outdated” label often associated with musical theatre. What’s more, Glee seamlessly blended Broadway’s timeless appeal with the vibrancy of pop culture. Standards were juxtaposed with hits from Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Journey, creating unexpected but harmonious pairings that bridged generational divides. This innovative musical fusion proved that Broadway songs weren’t relics of the past but rather emotionally powerful pieces that could coexist with contemporary chart-toppers. Beyond the music itself, Glee showcased the universality of the themes explored in musicals-love, identity, acceptance, and the struggles of everyday life. By embedding these narratives in the lives of a group of high school misfits, Glee made Broadway feel personal and accessible. The characters weren’t just performers singing on a stage; they were teenagers navigating relatable problems, using timeless songs to articulate their emotions. Broadway, through Glee, became a language of shared human experience. Furthermore, the series had a tangible cultural and commercial impact on Broadway itself. After episodes aired, searches for the featured musicals and songs spiked, ticket sales for original productions surged, and many young viewers were inspired to explore theatre because of the show’s influence. For many fans, Glee was their introduction to the rich storytelling and emotional depth of Broadway. In summary, Glee didn’t just modernize Broadway standards-it redefined their relevance. By combining tradition with innovation, the series proved that musical theatre is not a relic of the past but a dynamic, living art form that speaks to all generations. It turned Broadway into a universal language, resonating with millions around the globe and ensuring that its timeless legacy continues to thrive in the modern age.

The one thing I did like that Glee did in their cover of "For Good" was that epic key change at 11:03, that's why imo Season 3 will always be the best season of the show, epic moments like that. Honestly imo they could've ended the show with season 3 and it would've been perfectly fine. The quality started going downhill fast starting in season 4
Great clips, except for some of the live ones. The lighting is all messed up. I would like to see a combination of Glee performances and the movie version of the song.
No credits/ clips for the original Broadway performers who actually put these songs on the map? No mention of the composers and lyricists who wrote them? Heck we aren't even told who we see in front of us. We have a clip of some man from 'West End' who sings a song. Its not like its some major research project to give credit to people who deserve it. Its disrespectful to exploit performers like this. .
@@headcaptainyamamoto7015 No. I also do not want their phone numbers, home addresses. Many of these people are dead. I don't want to know where their remains rest either. @@headcaptainyamamoto7015😂 Yeah, it’s a bit much. I can understand wanting all that info.
