    As a retired US military intelligence officer, I had many interactions with Soviet and later Russians arms inspectors. At first, there was some reluctance, but I ended up making life long friends. Eventually, when I traveled to that part of the world, I visited Ukraine, the heart of the Soviet military machine. Wonderful people that were as curious about me as I was about them. I loved the food, culture and the people. They had many ideas they gathered from television or the internet. They asked about gays, our military, families and fast food and cars. Being Latino, I added another dimension because I also spoke Spanish. So, by some claims, I am conservative and in other areas I am more progressive/liberal. We can certainly learn from each other and never attempt to change each other because we don't agree with their ideas. In the end, we are all brother and sisters with different skin color, backgrounds and ethnicities.

      On August 5, 2021, the Department allowed for the voluntary departure of U.S. government family members.
      Country Summary: U.S. citizens, including former and current U.S. government and military personnel and private citizens engaged in business, who are visiting or residing in Russia have been interrogated without cause, and threatened by Russian officials and may become victims of harassment, mistreatment, and extortion. All U.S. government personnel should carefully consider their need to travel to Russia.
      Russian security services have arrested U.S. citizens on spurious charges, denied them fair and transparent treatment, and have convicted them in secret trials and/or without presenting evidence. Russian officials may unreasonably delay U.S. consular assistance to detained U.S. citizens. Russian authorities arbitrarily enforce local laws against U.S. citizen religious workers and open questionable criminal investigations against U.S. citizens engaged in religious activity. Stereotypes exist primarily because of the media, which typically only offers a very myopic view of a country or culture. That is the great thing about TH-cam and content creators such as yourself; you give us an ordinary view of life there. From watching many videos about Russia, I can say that while there are differences in culture and customs, Russian people are not very different then Americans.

    Thanks for this video! It's interesting to see how most of the young people are very open minded and have passed over any historical differences, but the old ones are still deeply nostalgic about the communist values, traditional family and so on. The same happens here in Romania as well.

    • @ferencbencsik1149
      @ferencbencsik1149 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Come on... to be familiar with traditional values are not identical with communist ideas, and especially doesn't mean simply to be nostalgic.... and yes, probably the older are more familiar with the traditional values, but please, they are also the part of the society.... their opinion just as important as that of the youngs.... alas... I also like Eli's works, but, in this video, for example, of the 10 asked men 9 were young, so it can be keept hardly as representative of the russian society.... and yes, the young many times are more open, but in the same time more idealistic and naiv as well, and less realistic... you and others may be critical of the traditional family values, but let me pull here 2 points: 1, the problem is never the religion, the family, the country or any kind of human community, but the bad things inside the man's soul and mind.... the young are always revolutionars, and due to their lack of knowledge and experiences of life, usually they want to destroy everything outside which belongs to the past (btw, this is why they were/are used by the communists all the time to make the status quo upside down), instead of learning what is good and bad, improove, instead of denying everything, throw off even the values of the fathers....
      2, let's say, we have to step over of this "traditional family" idea.... then I ask you, what can you offer as alternative, which is much better? gender and lmbtq? If yes, then it scares me, to be honest.... Or what else? Cause I just see young people to denying the traditional values, but I can't see, what is their proposal instead.... don't forget, the olders (boomers, as it is used to say our days) once were also young... in this respect, they are also young with lots of experiences of life... they made huge efforts to build up, to construct something nice and good, what young can not say at the moment.... so respect the elders efforts to make anything good and nice thing, otherwise your children will not respect you at all...
      All in all, I have no problem if the young want to throw away my life, but at first I want to see them to construct, to create anything beautiful.... Once I am convinced that they are capable to do so, then I let them to destroy...
      a boomer hungarian....

    Thank you for sharing this video. I would LOVE to experience Russia one day! Like that one guy said, we are all basically the same...even though the cultures are different. America has a huge diversity and several cultures melded together. When it was mostly "European" people, they were mostly from England, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, France, Italy and so forth and then of course African nations and South American. Then later cultures from Asia and Middle East, etc. We all call ourselves Americans. Most Americans are open and friendly and love to laugh and have a good time. Most of us love good food whether it be the tempting fattening food or the healthy...it's a personal preference. We love sports like football and baseball and basketball. Hunting is very popular. It would be very hard for the government to take our guns! Untied States is a big piece of property and more people live here then in Russia. We are also proud people and have enjoyed the freedom to be innovative. Most are loyal to our country and fellow citizens. We don't hesitate to help those in need! However, there's always the flip side of everything and yes, America has a dark side just like everything else. There are some bad people in America, those who will take advantage, those who do cause harm. The big cities are much more dangerous then the small towns. There are areas of the cities people should know not to be in or lose their way into! There are gangs in most big cities and there are organizations that are violent. If a foreigner plans to visit America, it's good to do the homework and also talk to several people who live in America to give information that they need to know. Politically, yes, it's true. Our government has become horribly corrupt in the last few decades. This happens with ALL types of governments...whether a democracy or parliament or republic, etc. America is a Constitution Republic not a democracy and is "ruled" by mostly a two party system. Democrat and Republican Parties. The Democrat Party has become more socialist and Republican Party has become more centralist and one could say even more Democrat. Socialism and communism and Fascism is way left of central. Libertarian is right of central and anarchy is way way right of central. It's easy to have the stereotype of Americans being spoiled and fat, etc when you see Hollywood portrayals and teens and young adults rebelling violently in the news. Our Constitution allows people to think freely and have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc. But, yes...there has been a great abuse on these noble rights. People have gone over the top and demand that every one believe like they do. Thank you again for sharing.
