The contrast between young Billy and Shazam exists because young Billy is depressed because of his separation from his birth mom. As Shazam he's having fun, so yeah he's excited as Shazam and not so much as young Billy.
In the comics Captain Marvel is not Billy but a hero Billy hosts within himself and calls forth when needed. So they are two different people with two different bodies yet share the same body. If that makes any sense.
MCU was dark with Thor. All the Thor movies were dark. First Thor movie he lost his powers. Second Thor movie he lost his mom and almost lost his woman. Third Thor movie fucking everyone dies in the first like 10 minutes. Thor movies are dark as fuck. People die left and right. And not random side characters no one cares about. Main characters be dying. All his friends got clapped at the start of Ragnarok.
Yeah but still not as dark as DC. What are they supposed to do? Make fun of people dying lol. There's dark times in lots of comics with Marvel, but they still have that good balance, which DC lacks. But at the same time, DC is not Marvel. DC has always been the darker comic. Shazam is supposed to be lighter because it's a kid essentially. I think this light comedy DC is only because of that.

This movie I finally agree lol, favorite DC movie besides Nolan and I loved Watchmen too, also this movie is better than WW and Aquaman so they can fight both of us lol. P.S. Tony actually liked the kids lol thats a surprise.

I think that's what they were going after with him being a moody kid vs when he was SHAZAM!. The way I saw it, I was his coping mechanism. He was a kid in the foster care system unable to deal with the life he was dealt. When he became SHAZAM!, he could put everything behind him. Still glad you liked it 😊

I like your opinion. I agree with you about the bulkiness of the suit, they should have toned the body suit and reduce the mass. It reminded me of an episode of Looney Tunes were Daffy was trying to impress a girl on the beach. 😂
I had wrote this movie off as being too silly for me to watch based on the trailer but I respect Tony's opinion (don't always agree) and with four saxophones it's worth a look. I'll add it to my Netflix DVD queue to watch later.
I think that was the point of Billy and his arc. He was a jerk as himself but when he turns into Shazam he can be different and fun. He learns from being called out and grows from that. Great review though. I enjoyed the hell out of it. After awhile the puffiness of the costume makes sense

"Big" meets "Goonies" meets the standard super hero origin flick. It's going to be a pleasant surprise for most seeing, it was for new. Lightweight horror elements in there too while still being judged friendly.
In my opinion Shazam was a 8/10 and this film has rewatachable value. Action B+, Pacing B+, Comedy A, Characters B+, Character Development A, Script B+, Storyline B+. Shazam B+ overall and I'm very surprised.
I agree with the costume. I literally said the same thing about it looking like something you’d pick up at the Spirit of Halloween store. He even looked funny walking in it like it was uncomfortable. The Kid(billy batson) was a bit of a prick but I feel it was on purpose and he had good reason to be miserable. His moms abandoned him, had no real family, went from foster home to foster home etc etc. By the end he found himself. He realized he was kind of being a “little shit” and understood who his love ones really were. Hope they don’t waste time and make a sequel soon. 4/5 from me as well

Watchmen was dope as hell, and that's why I wish Zack could've completed his vision of Justice League, which wasn't as dark as Watchmen. But Shazam was definitely a cheesy feel good movie, that I thoroughly enjoyed, considering the limited budget. Sometimes you can do more with less.

People are vastly overratted this movie's comedy. I heard people say this is even a comedy, it's not. I think laughed like 5 times in this movie. I laughed more times in Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad if I'm being completely honest. Good movie. But not all that funny.
