Yay, loved seeing my neck of the woods on film! Where the track was left in the drive by the houses it leads to a station house that you can see ahead. It is a public footpath going past it that goes round by the fire department and police dog training area back onto the Coach Road. When you mentioned the kiln that was the 18th Century blast furnaces. The buildings on the corner still show the red paint used to try and camouflage them as houses to avoid Butterley being a target in WWII. In Carr Wood a bit further up you can find round indentations (craters?) where the bombs landed when they missed. So many layers of history there, plus of course the Pentrich Revolution connection.
I wasnt sure about going past that house as its marked as a private drive but as you say its then a public footpath round the side of the Police Dog area. As for station house there was no station there but i recall think that it does indeed look like a railway building. May have been a colliery Managers property, maybe. Built be Butterley Co ?
Woah; brilliant all the stuff you found, but I did love the aerial footage, seeing the colliery, the engines, track, the lovely old station(houses?) - love it!
@@IckeWalks Awesome. There are two heritage railways fairly close to me (like 30miles in either direction) and I really enjoy their open days. In fact, I am going on the Flying Scotsman in September, on a couple hour long round trip on one of the heritage railways. Can't wait.
I thought I had the wrong pair of glasses on when I saw the 1st bit of Drone Footage ! Good job you sorted it out for the later shoots, otherwise it would have been 2 Drone Nightmares in the last 2 Videos.
