    This is brilliant Gareth! I just want to say how totally in tune I am with what you are doing all around. For those that do not know, I am David Icke's former wife. So peaceful to be walking this path with you through the lens, as the next best thing to being there is ... here. Freedom🍃🌿

    Lock down was tough, for some more than others. The outdoors got me and my parents through it, and was extremely important to my father especially with his dementia becoming so extreme so quickly. Sadly he passed away a few months ago, but I think of him every time I go for my walks and hikes.
    I think you do a great job of documenting all your adventures (now with your friends), creating fine lines between entertainment, adventure and sharing historical information.
    Oh, and we love it when you get stung to f**k 🤣
    Great job, mate.

    Loved this Gareth, as an Ozstraylian who's unlikely to see that land this incarnation, thank you.

    Another winner here mate! Looking at old railway maps it looks like there was a spur off of the Alfreton to Chesterfield line near Morton and the line would have headed towards Pilsley or Tibshelf. Part of the spur is now access to the active rail line for works etc.

    Thank you so much for this walk and history trip with you Gareth. I really enjoyed it and learning about the places, and I liked that you showed old images and maps as you went. I've been meaning to make a start on watching these since you first mentioned them on Telegram - when I saw that you have just posted about episode 30, I thought it was about time I got watching. Glad I did. Thank you 🙏🏻

    Typical Midland Railway architecture. Stunning bridges and viaducts.
    Seen on The Settle and Carlisle Railway still, thankfully!

    There's some great old railway lines here in North Wales you should try, especially the old Vale of Clwyd line from Rhyl to Denbighshire!

    This is great. We love our walking(in our 30s/40s) and love dovestones, the Peak district, keswick, rivington. Always up for suggestions too. Could set up a website for this, walking is becoming increasingly popular since the buggers locked us down!

    Brilliant! Great thing to do, I feel conflicted by the decommissioned railways. Lovely walks and as you say the beautiful railway infrastructure/ the bridges/viaducts. But less trains! Seems mad they did away with the London to Manchester line and now they are trying to build HS2.

    Should check out Causey Arch in County Durham - World's oldest railway bridge. Also Shildon NRM & Beamish Open air museum.

    Really enjoyed watching this video, I’ve walked this trail many times and never noticed that the railway signal near the bridge was the county boundary marker. Do you have any plans to do the Five Pits trail as I live near it and would be interested to see what I’ve not been noticing on that trail?

    Gareth (or anyone), any good websites with info on walkable disused railway lines in the UK?

    • @IckeWalks
      @IckeWalks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest, I just search the area and railway walk. You can get the alltrails app, but I don't think it's cheap. What area you looking to walk?

    • @matstaniforth
      @matstaniforth ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IckeWalks South of England, mostly. I'll do what you advise and just search the area.

    what a great idea, the son of the man who woke me up about 18 years ago while i stayed in north norwood in london with my dying daughter. they gave me a room in the nursing home so that i had not to take a hotel all the time - i live in germany - and also a tv, which at home i had stopped watching. and then there was a man talking about the royals being lizards and was ridiculed on the tv. and at home a somehow ended up watching something about 911 and got my doubts about the official narrative and suddenly i saw a video on you tube with the face of the man i had seen on tv in london. and thats were it begun. later kerry cassidy - i met her peronally in germany - jordan maxwell, michael tellinger etc. and now the son walks, good.
