Oh, nooo!! I missed your visit in Haugesund, where I live! You guys even passed just by my flat when walking from your boat to the police station. If I knew, I would have invited you in! Thank you for another excellent video, :-)
I am loving every bit of your voyage!! We toured Scotland 3 years ago and Ireland last year by land and being able to see some of the sights again through you has been thoroughly enjoyable. It is a beautiful part of the world. 😊
Good bye for now you gyes. Hope to see you again some day along the Norwegien coastline. Thanks for the way you gyes share our beautiful country thru your episodes. Safe saling south.
Hello new cyclists! it is necessary to properly adjust the height of the saddle of your bikes: sitting on the saddle, the foot placed flat on the pedal your leg should be straight. So you will be able to pedal without tiring yourself unnecessarily... Thanks for your nice vidéos! Jean-Luc, from North of France
if you haven't tried them yet. get a hold of a set of "Sea-bands".. they're wrist straps that have a small plastic bump that presses on your wrist...they can work wonders and start working almost immediately after putting them on.....while they don't completely drive off the little bit of queasy.. they will keep you from having to lean over the rail.... for me it's the difference between being functional with only a little discomfort, or being mostly unable to do much of anything because of the meds.....give them a try!
So sad to leave Norway. You guys did an excellent job of showing us around. Thank you very, very much! Looking forward to Orkneys and western Scotland. Love, love Scotland!
I'm glad someone with y'alls skills for video made this trip. I've wanted to see the coast of Norway and Sweden. Now I can say I have seen one of them through your lens. Thank You. 🙏🙏 The West coast of Scotland is also on my bucket list. 😁 Fair Winds from the northern Gulf of Mexico 🙋♂️😊
Glad you guys made a safe passage to the Orkney's, it can be brutal at times. Believe me the West coast of Scotland is some of the best sailing the UK has to offer. The mountains the people and the variety of sea states will keep you on your toes. Not to mention the number of distillery's of fine Whisky the area has to offer.
Great video , excellent balance of content and commentary. We love watching your sailing adventures. Jessica and Matt your guys are up there with the best. Keep up the good work.
"Thanks for joining the adventure" Uh to me it's more like "Thank you you 3 for letting us tag along".....As always excellent narrative with great views!
As always, great story telling and videos. Also, wanted to say Thanks for the advice...purchased a Spinnaker from Precision based in part on your experience and just received 2 sport-a-seats based on your recommendation. Really enjoy your product reviews...now I just need to wait for winter in the Great Lakes to move on so I can get back on the water!
Hi Guys, Nice videos. My advice, buy a video camera with xlr audio inputs insted of a photo camera. Your videos will be in focus , you can monitor the sound while recording and viewfinder is clear in sunlight. The ergonomics are much better. I am happy with Sony Z90.
Super bike, you just need to get your saddle a bit higher. Measure it with you heel on the pedal with an almost stretched leg. Will increase your effective biking. Happy sailing.
I haven’t watched in a long time . When you were getting on that boat I thought there is no way that’s the boat you guys were fixing up . Turned out really good !
amazing that you are getting the sights and anchorages and all the free will you wish on those monthly costs. thats like one rt ticket from the states. wow
Hi guys. Awesome video. At 22:48 there is a house on the edge of the shore, was with a big black kind of turret on the roof. Was that place abandoned? It looked like the windows were gone. What a great structure. Makes me wish I was from that part of the world. It would be a great place to live. And the castle just before it was super cool too. Could you pinpoint that a bit for me so I can google earth it?
Great job on the opening shots. The panning was really good and professional. Aw, these are the bikes I saw before. Cute. I'm sure they feel small (especially at first) but they sure will pack small and be handy for little jaunts into and around town. Didn't realize the oil platforms in the North Sea were so plentiful either. And you thought you were going to be lonesome for them after the night! Looking forward to your journey in Scotland. Hope the winds cooperate.
We're hoping the bikes will really come in handy as we do more travels along the coast of mainland Europe. They *could* have more comfortable seats, but they're great at getting us around. Might have to upgrade to a permanent set. 😀
@@MJSailing If you're just bumming around a bit to explore the neighborhood on those bikes they will do just fine. Better seats are advisable and can be bought everywhere. Just curious why you didn't head for the Baltic Sea. Very different from the Norwegian coast but a nice area to visit. Especially during the summer period. Going through the Kiel Canal is the shortest & easiest way to get there. Sailing past the Dutch/German North Sea coastline you can beach the yacht (on the tide-land behind the islands) when having the urge to do so.
@@steenkigerrider5340 We weren't able to do the Baltic this year for a few reasons ... one was that we had already spent the summer months touring Norway (we did about 1,200 miles of coastline in 2 months), and at the end of it we had overstayed our Visa in the area. There was the intent of sailing the Baltic in 2020, but we need one year of warmth first. So we'll do Portugal and Morocco this year and hopefully head north again in 2021. 😀
Aye m8's, I do agree on those wet eyes leaving god old Scandinavia. That morning sail, could it have been porpoises you saw? I know it's a long time since, but they are very likely to hang around. Love that you did chose to go via Kirkwall. It's a very nice place!
I’m always amazed how much stuff can be stored on a boat. Bigger bikes means, bigger boat, which means, cutting your trip short...again, which means, another 6 month refit 😜🤔 Naa, stick with smaller bikes...and sailing. 😂😂😂👍👍👍
Shame you couldn't meet Eric Anderra, a Yiu Tuber based in Haugasund. Seems to be a nice guy, not right, but a nice guy, He deliberately goes out to sail in a force 10 gale).
I wonder if the Vikings were "Good weather, let's go let's go! time to raid go go go!" (which brings up, if Matt doesn't like motoring the North Sea, try rowing the it) Love the Norwegian adventure videos, looking forward to UK
Put the saddles up a tad :) ..(try walking upstairs with your legs bent like they are on the bikes ) Was not a bad price for two usable bikes ...enjoy.
Thank you for the expense update! I know you said you motored a lot, but wow, fuel was nearly half of your outlay for August!!! Overall though, y'all really do a great job of traveling on a budget. Also, I really enjoyed seeing Georgie curled up in her Kitty Kat bed/muffin. She looks comfy cozy in there!!! ;-D

Love this video, great job. Cool that you sail with a cat. I would love to sail Europe but Schengan seems to be a real obstacle. I thought you mentioned a 6 month visa in Scotland. Do you plan to winter in Britain and the do 3 month forays into Europe? Can you recommend a good source for managing Schengan, or perhaps do a video on that. It seems almost impossible to get in and out of the Med without spending 3 months in North Africa. Winter and distance seem problematic. Baltic poses the same problems. It would be nice is the Schengan agreement were modified to accommodate cruisers.
Stay safe and well. My wife and I will be flying to Michigan from Arizona in early May for a couple of graduation ceremonies. Can we get anything for you from Meijer. There is a marine manufacturer in Lowell, Michigan (where we used to live). Can we pick something up for you from Attwood Marine?
Good video, good choice of destination in Orkney, lovely place with some real characters. Need to brush up on your pronunciation, why is Edinburgh so difficult for Americans. Anyway safe travels if you are going through the Minch as it can be wild but I am sure you will select a decent weather window for the passage
Might sound like an odd question, but where do you get your clothes from? Do you buy from sailing outfitters or do you pick things up as you go along? Not just your waterproofs, but also fleeces, jumpers etc, are they sailing brands or do you not buy sailing brands?
How would you have navigated through the oil rigs had you been in limited or zero visibility weather conditions...depend on your GPS and radar? Are the rigs equipped with AIS?
