When I was little we adopted this giant ass 40 pound mutt of a cat, that came declawed. The declawing didn’t impair this cat one bit. He’d go around beating up German shepherds tied on their leashes, he’d lay in the grass, and laugh himself 20 feet in the air and knock birds out of mid flight, killed and ate rabbits just about as often as mice, and one time he dragged home a deer. One leg at a time for 4 days straight, and on the fifth day he left the head on the steps, all the same. He didn’t have any claws, but he could punch and grip really powerfully more than adequately in spite of it. While I don’t think people ought to just declaw their cats indiscriminately, as like a default, I think it should still be made available as a last resort option, if for some reason the cat has a behavioral problem that can’t otherwise be mitigated. Probably a little better if declawing resolves the problem than the cat having to go to the pound, or live his days out as a barn cat, just because he can’t resist artistically carving into all the furniture.

@@Marianayellowbanana it's easy enough to look it up. No hate, just if you're that interested all it takes is a single search on Google. That and it's always better to look up your own information than relying on passerbys. But yeah, who ever declawed your cat probably ended his life with pain and discomfort. Declawing isn't just taking away their claws, it's amputating their knuckles off. Cats walk on their tippy toes, which means they continuously walk on their amputations for the rest of their lives. There is no undoing it. Even human amputees, those with better pain tolerance and healing than cats, find it hard to walk with support. And they can take pain medicine at any time There's also the fact of their bones regrowing in. Which is not only painful, but also grows wrong causing balance and stability issues. This decreases their mobility, and causes clumsiness that can get them hurt. Not to mention cats need their claws to make sure they can jump, skid, and play. It also causes them to become sluggish and lazy(who wants to walk when your in constant pain) which leads to over eating and obesity. Which causes more pain due to increased weight on their amputated fingers. It's a constant cycle That's not even taking into consideration the mental issues in related to taking away a defensive mechanism. Studies show that declawed cats are more aggressive and territorial than not. Not only from pain but also fear. Declawed cats feel like they are constantly in a corner, and you never corner a cat. Especially if you have other animals as well, especially dogs who don't know how to take no for an answer. This constant stress and pain leads to anxiety and depressive issues. Studies also show that declawed cats get put down more often than cats with claws. Especially by the people who declaw them. It's an awful situation. It's just torturing the porr babies and then getting frustrated and asking why their acting out.
I read of a blind cat who , while his human companion slept, heard an intruder coming toward the bedroom, growled, awakening her, waited for the enemy to make a sound, and then leapt at him, missing him by very little and chased him out of the house. His owner had adopted the cat despite his handicap from an animal shelter and said "I obviously made a great choice."
“For our own protection Binkie was kept in his owners arms.”😂😂😂. I freaking love it. All animals will become defensive of strangers on their terf. My Siamese is NOT welcoming to anyone when I’m not their with her. She beats the shit out of dogs that wander onto our property and the poor roofers she thought were trying to get in. I had to keep her locked up for the week they were here.
cats are VICIOUS AND DANGEROUS when they have to be. All cats, even house cats have nasty claws and teeth, and CUT SKIN AND FLESH PRETTY BADLY.....making people bleed. Cats are predators and hunters and protectors, by nature. And house cats HATE IT when strangers mess with their owners, and cats instinctively see it as a threat to their FOOD SOURCE.
Cats are literally just fleshy spike balls. They have 10 sharp claws they can use at will and slice through flesh like butter at max power. All it takes is one good lick in your eye and its busted pretty much. Then when claws dont work, they have a whole mouthful of razor teeth with a even meaner force than the claws. Cats when they want to and if they aim at the right places can definitely stall an intruder for a while and leave some lasting wounds. Might not do the dirty work for you and finish them off, but a cat can buy you enough time to do something.
cats arent even fully domesticated. while dogs and wolves have a lot of difference in their dna, domestic cats and wild cats are almost identical, at least genetically

When my two cats were kittens, they would scratch EVERYWHERE. I bought four scratching posts, put them all over the apartment, and would routinely pick the cats up and put them against the posts until they understood where they were allowed to scratch. People would ask me, "Why not just declaw them?" Absolutely NOT. They're 8 years old now, still have their claws, but now I only have to buy one scratching post at a time because they get it 😆
For the record, cats don't scratch things just because they're assholes. That's their way of doing their manicure. I never had to worry about buying scratching posts because I let my cats outside and they would use trees to maintain their claws. Which is what they do in the wild.
@@sheogorath1374 just be careful that they're are no endangered species or predators out where you let your cats go. They can decimate the local wildlife population and letting them outdoors unsupervised statistically lower their life span by several years.

I immediately said Charlie it’s me and she instantly relaxed and her entire demeanor changed but she was like one second away from jumping at my face
Cats can be so bonded with their people, they pickup on the fear and other emotions. Glad this story had a happy ending and that perp really needs to reassess the choices he is making.
Awesome cat! There are caps that can be glued to a cat's front claws or you can trim them with nail clippers. The owner may not have had her cat declawed but a previous owner may have and whoever had it done probably didn't know how bad it is. The caps eventually come off and have to be reapplied. If clipped with a nail clipper the cat can easily and fairly quickly resharpen them. If a cat gets out and gets lost, they cannot defend themselves or catch food without their claws. That's beside the point of the horrific surgery and pain involved with the declawing surgery. It's much worse than cropping a dog's ears, which many people are against.
I think a lot of people underestimate just how sharp a cat's claws are. From big cats to house cats, the claws are their greatest weapons and defense. Also do not declaw a cat. It's literally their knuckles and could cause serious health issues later on.
@@SpectrumSwordtails It's like saying you don't need your pinky toes so get them removed. No point in discussion though; Binky's claws ain't coming back.

And it's painful for the cat for the rest of his life. They always experience some form of phantom pain. It is 10 amputations, after all. He will be fine however my foreskin is never coming back
When I was little we adopted this giant ass 40 pound mutt of a cat, that came declawed.
This woman seems chill. Probably rescued him after it happened, is my guess. Could be wrong but you can't just accuse people of things.
Declawing should be deemed ILLEGAL. It is cruel and painful. If you dont want claws, dont get a cat PERIOD

Why? Didn't he stay indoors as he should have?
@nene3857 idk what the "why" is supposed to be in reference to but all of the cats I have ever owned have always been indoor only. Declawing causes medical issues that can contribute to early death.
@@LakeGael can I ask what medical issues? I adopted a 14 year old declawed cat last year and he has some issues but sticking to just wet food and doing a little better. Vet recommended milk thistle for liver but he hates it.
😓❤✨😇
And they can take pain medicine at any time
There's also the fact of their bones regrowing in. It's a constant cycle
That's not even taking into consideration the mental issues in related to taking away a defensive mechanism.
Yay!!!! At the end of the interview, Binky proudly agrees that he, a cat, was responsible for the injuries to the bad man! Go Binky!!!

They sure can!!!
If a cat stops you from robbing a house, you might want to just re-think your whole life.
Bruh, cats can be VICIOUS. They are clawing machines!
cats are VICIOUS AND DANGEROUS when they have to be.
LOL I had 2 cats that were pretty vicious if threatened 😆I know it sounds ridiculous but they bite fucking hard! and will make you bleed

Declawing cats is horrible. You literally remove their first knuckle. Imagine removing the first knuckle on your fingers.
Those who are so afraid of being hurt by a cat, to the point that have to declaw it, should never have a cat in the first place. If you really love your cats and know how to play with them appropriately, they will never hurt you, at least never intentionally.
