- It must have been a "ruff" morning for a duo of dogs in Lakeville, Minnesota that called 911 more than a dozen times while their owners were gone, prompting police to respond to their home.
You can’t speak to them unless their lawyer is present.

I love how the cops assumed they called 911 because they needed to be let out 😂
I think that assumption comes from the dogs reaction of being able to identify a human voice. Maybe the first time was an accident, but the second time was like "If there is a human answering me, I want her to know that I need her". I've rescued many cats from strange places and as soon as they hear a human voice calling them, they answer back with a meow (I didn't use a phone, but that's why I think that the assumption comes from that simple reaction).

My daughter dialled the emergency number once - decades ago now - I had my back to her while I was washing and drying the dishes. I could hear her and I was thinking how cute it was that she was chattering away to her toys like they were real.
After a few minutes I turned to look and saw her on the phone. I spoke to the policeman who was having a bit of a laugh about it.
I told him she had seen an add about dialling 000 and she thought it was like a chat line or something.
He laughed and said he’d let them know they weren’t reaching their target audience.

I did a similar thing with my family's landline when I was very young but wasn't much of a talker so I just hung up. Multiple times. My parents were less than impressed when they found out.

They pretty much have to, this is something that an assistance dog might be expected to do in an emergency.

The owner wasn’t even home. The dogs, being dogs, gained access to the phone and hit it, dialing 911. There is rarely an event where your 911 call cannot be answered, and I doubt it happened that dayS
imagine being the operator and you answer only to hear panting and barking on the other end of the line.
Dispatch immediately goes to any house with an animal on the line as they consider it a potential service dog doing their duty for their handler.

When I worked at a doggie daycare, we once had an officer show up to check out a 911 call that only had dogs barking in the background. When everything seemed to be fine, he got some quotes for getting his dogs groomed. We never figured out who’d made the call, but I never considered that it could have been one of the dogs.
Having a cat as a sitter could have prevented this ... just saying.

@@sslaytor the officer didn’t seemed too concerned about where the call came from, which I found a little strange. We did have a theory that he was just making an excuse to price out dog grooming while on the clock. Maybe he had a canine accomplice on the inside?

That was so cute when the operator answered and the dog barked in response, then later on you can hear both doggies barking. If only we could understand dog talk! This was naughty of them but cute at the same time, you can’t get mad at them. Even their human had to pretend to be “stern” for the camera by telling them to sit.😂
Great job by the dispatcher and the police officers, responding to the call. Just remember that some SERVICE DOGS are trained to call 911 (usually it's a dedicated cell phone on their person and preset to 911, the dog just pushes in the screen.) if their person is down and unresponsive.

The phone was in the owners office and how was he supposed to know these little trouble makers got a hold of the phone while he was out and pressed 911 or kept calling 911? There has been so much violence and bad news, so a little humor will not hurt. I am thankful that the owner was okay, the 2 police officers were able to have a little joy from a stressful job and the two brats felt real guilty. I am pretty sure the owner will make sure the phones can't be reached by them anymore.

I know two dogs who have been specially trained for their disabled owners, and they do a really good job. They are trained to call 911, but I have never heard that they did it by mistake.

I know this is old, but what a time to discover it. I love these Officers and I hope they're still doing well. I also love the dogs. Accident the first time, but resulted in a sympathetic human voice. So they kept doing it. Sounds like well-loved house pets who crave human attention to me. Utterly heartwarming.
I like how the dog refused an interview with the reporter without having the dogs lawyer present. The dog not only had the presence of mind to call the cops, the pooch knew when to keep his mouth shut while there was also cameras rolling. You don't want to say anything incriminating...smart dog😜🤪😛

Two dogs were feeling bored and lonely
They had no humans to play with, only
A phone that they found on the floor
They decided to have some fun and explore
They pressed the buttons with their paws
And heard some voices and some beeps

Dogs can be trained to call 911. Every call should be taken seriously, but I’m glad in this situation that there wasn’t an emergency but the dogs could make some officers laugh.

I am one of those people that hates how people call 911 for no reason (and not enough for good reasons), but I nearly died laughing at the 911 calls of these dogs. I just can't with the "Ruff" and "Yip". I wonder what the 911 dispatch was thinking. The officers were hilarious and fantastic.

I had a cat with a respitory issue. When I got home from work that evening, a friend 1500 miles away asked me why I called him at 5:30 am and just was breathing heavy in the phone. I said I didn't and I wasn't even awake at that time. I looked at my call log and sure enough, there had been a call placed to his number at the time he said. That goofy cat apparently hit the redial on my phone, making it look like *I* was making obscene calls!

Martha, count your blessings. Really, like write them down. Got a nice bed to sleep in? That should go on the list. Got food in the fridge? Check. Got a phone? A car? Clothes? Shoes? Can you hear birds singing? Can you see? Taste? Talk?
We usually have so many good things going on that we forget to acknowledge them. Something bad happens, we worry, we’re angry or sad or afraid…

Learn to shift your thinking from the bad to the good, and practicing that will change your life.
