Well I am not really a huge Vtuber fan, but I like good music, Mori Calliope has two other songs that are interesting imo " [MV] いじめっ子 Bully- Calliope Mori " a complete tone change and " DEAD BEATS - Calliope Mori " (dead beats refers to her fans) more of a Bar based meme song.
You pretty much nailed most of the key points to this song. For context, Calli was part of the underground Japanese rap scene. But when 2020 hit, the bars closed down ("shattering the bars we played") and most of her friends, peers, and mentors from that scene were forced to return to their stable 9-5's, leaving the dream to wither and die. Meanwhile, Calli took a big risk at applying for Hololive, which at that point was heavily portrayed as cutesy idol/jpop-focused (a hard departure from underground rap). She undeniably found success there, but many of her former friends saw her as selling out and trading the integrity of her art for success and leaving them behind. This song is basically her love letter to those friends saying "I miss you, but I can't undo what I've worked so hard to accomplish. I can't go back to you, but I can wait for you to catch up and join me on the mountaintop."
She have the bloody iron heart to make trade and sacrifice But that’s heart is softer bc her kindness to their own friends She though but dead inside And become Death itself
Since people saw the positive side of this, I shall be that jerk to say the negative. When your friends won't cheer in your sucess and shun you instead, I think they are not worth waiting for. Regardless of what they have done for you in the past, they don't own your future. You don't step on people, continue and don't look back otherwise.
@@KnoxHill strongly recommend her new newest album she made under another name "Shut up get happy" if you love this stuff, she goes in even harder thre only 4 songs but 4 absolute banger
@@ignatoseg4664 Care, demondice and calliope should he referred to separately. Just to avoid any issues. She doesn't want them to be referred to as 1 person
Fun fact: this song was almost gonna thrown to the deepest part of her folders and never be released. Calli felt kinda hesitant to release it because this song talk about her past life so deeply, it's too emotional for her. But she decided to soldier on and release it, and she glad that she did. There's also a video (stream archive) of her that dive deep into the lyrics and meanings behind it. And damn, Knox, you're breaking it down like the Doom Guy tearing up those demons.
I can see that. She gets a bit sensitive about people trying to drag that part of her life into the light. But, with recent developments she's diving back into the fray. I look forward to watching her success.
This song's got some interesting layers, the most interesting to me is the death of a 'life' that was the indie/underground rap scene in japan over the last few years, -- "When the ladder fell and shattered every bar that we had played" covid literally killed bars. hundreds of them that will never open again, the scene will never completely recover all while she found insane success the world she knew was ending she not only got to meet and be around the heroes she had that got her into music in the first place, she got to befriend them and spend years of her life running around the city with them, doing live shows, making music, working together... only for them to treat her like the bad guy when her success hit as their world ended.
This also came out just after one of the most popular members of Hololive had "graduated" (Moved on from the company, meaning the character is retired). Many of the members got pretty emotional to see her leaving, including Calli.
Yeah, after watching that lyrics dive video and watching her genuinely cry because none of her friends or heroes congratulated her, or were genuinely happy for her. And how she wished so bad that just one of them said that. I can't listen to this song without tearing up myself since then, it's just such an emotional and melancholy song with such deep and personal meaning to her, and yet written in such a way that it could apply to so many other people and situations. Calli is an amazing poet, truly amazing! 💀❤
She have the bloody iron heart to make trade and sacrifice But that’s heart is softer bc her kindness to their own friends She though but dead inside And become Death itself
@@lareolanKFP Wasn't quite None of her friends from back in those day, to my understanding, but yeah, basically. To my understanding (given one of their collab songs) one or both of the members of Boogievox was part of that group, and They're certainly happy for her (and if I recall their entry in one of her cover song competitions correctly, actually credit her with being the reason they got back into making music after having moved on!).
Your breakdowns have been crazy on point. She made entire hour-long streams about breaking down her lyrics and you're catching a bunch of hidden clues. An interesting thing to note has been that she was heavily influenced by the Japanese rap scene, which helps with that very unique sound and flow you described. A lot of this song is also about that scene and how it has changed over time. On that topic, I'd absolutely recommend reacting to the song "Crown". It was a collaboration between her and a Japanese rapper/singer duo called 'Boogey Voxx' and can be found on their channel. I'd love to hear your thoughts on some more bilingual songs, especially the Japanese rap.
Agreed. Her part in that song is really kind of a counterpart or a sequel to this song I think in how she's again looking at her past, but from a slightly different point of view. I also just love that song as well and it would be a great introduction to Boogey Voxx!
A hundred times yes to Crown! It really feels like a sort of spirited sequel track after the somber and reflective tone in this one. Boogey Voxx absolutely kills it too.
This song hits home for me in so many ways. I'm a musician who chose /not/ to pursue music, so that I could keep taking care of my girlfriend (now my wife) as her health started failing. Yes, I could have chosen to break up with her to go after my own dreams, but the "me" that would have made that decision? No, that's someone I could never be friends with. That was 20 years ago, and while I have a great many regrets about choices I've made since then, that decision is not one of them. I've watched a lot of reactions to this song, but I have never seen anyone nail the meaning of it the first time around the way you did. You're fast becoming my favorite rap reactor. Like a nuclear reactor, but music is the fuel.
All Westerners say that Calliope's lyrics are amazing. As a Japanese, I could not quite understand why. But after seeing your reaction, I think I understand a little better. Thank you! 👍
This song is 100% my favorite from her with "Cursed Night" as a close second. She is easily one of the best lyricists out there today. As with all her songs, you can tell she put a lot of herself and her experiences into the song but this one she put a ton of emotion into as well. She did a stream after this released where she broke down the lyrics and in parts she nearly broke down talking about it. It mostly came down to her joining Hololive drove a large wedge between her and a lot of her old Japanese rap scene friends who felt like she'd sold out. You always think your friends will have your back no matter what, but then when some of those friends turn on you because they become jealous of your success, it hurts a lot. Such a good song.
"You wanna see it? Fine. This time, look for yourself." completely changed my way of viewing Cursed Night. Had to listen again and try to dig through my memory for similar moments and experience how they made me feel. That song is a heart breaker and a half.
Hi! If I remember well, Calli was in a group underground, singing at bars, when the pandemic came the places like that got closed, and they all got ‘normal’ jobs. Calli found hololive, she didn’t think that she was really gonna end working there, it was a joke, but they accepted. In a video she explains that, she kinda wanted them to be proud of her, but no one tell her that. She felt bad because she was also thinking that some of them deserved more the famous than her, even though she’s telling herself that she shouldn’t feel this way because she got it with effors, still she think that way.
Most likely Calli's space references is mostly referring to how she's an American who moved Japan and how at times that can feel "alien" if I remember correctly.
Wonderful reaction, even after working with her it can get hard to notice all the subtilities in her lyric writing and i love that content like this helps to appreciate the full picture, thank you so much ! Awesome content, really
You introduced me to calliope , now i heard all of her songs , but came here to just see your reaction. i may have never knew her , but cause of you she is now in my playlist. You are also an amazing musicians. I always check your video wheather it is reaction video or music video.
It's also rough because of the Rona, she hasn't been able to see her family in years. And a lot of her friends in the comeup are in another country, in the past. This is her best song ...as Mori. I think there's clip of her talking about this song breakdown if you're interested.
I love that you took your time to look at Cali's work, she is really tallented and hardworking person that Deadbeats love with our whole hearts, im glad you took a liking of her to! In this place i would really like to ask you to try some other great Hololive singers like Hoshimachi Suisei for example.
You have probably the best breakdowns of Calli's music I've seen, you catch way more of the little things in the lyrics and production than anyone else I've seen! If you do another from her, I think you would like Red, the lyrics are very metaphorical
"when the ladder fell and shattered every bar that we had played" is kind of a triple too cause shes mentioned in the past this line is talking about covid shutting everything down
Another great video man! Just to clarify the meaning of the whole song: so basically that song is all about Calli's past when she was just a foreigner rapper in random clubs with her friends. Life was harsh for them AND for her, most of her friends and idols("heroes" - how she views them) devoted their lives to rap but simply could not achieve success no matter how hard they tried. Calli, inspired by her "heroes", tried just as hard and couldn't achieve success in the same way at the beginning("I'll never find another chance to say "hey thanks for saving my life", I was hopeless.."). But things have turned when someday she actually became famous thanks to sudden hype around her. From that moment on, she began to climb the career ladder. At the same time, her "heroes" began to envy Calli, turn away from her, and she, in turn, began to take the blame on herself(calling herself a "villain"), citing injustice("you watched your heroes fade inti the rear view-mirror of the villain you portrayed"). The last factor was the appearance of the coronavirus, because of which absolutely all the clubs she went to were closed("there's nothing left back there for me"; "I'll never find my way back to you"), and all those "heroes" were simply forced to give up their dreams("And your friends grew tired of fantasy; you're wishing they had stayed?"; "laughing at our own dreams, haha.. just what the hell was so funny?") and look for other jobs. At the end of the song, it becomes clear that Calli overcame all this and stopped blaming herself for what happened, since it was not her fault that only she, having put much less effort into it, unlike others, became popular("Stop the pity party, listen you don't get to be dismayed . You don't get to be emotional, feel blessed you got it made"). I think that's it, I really hope I've helped you with my explanation and I'm waiting for your new videos!! P.S. Sorry if my English is bad lol
I know I’m late to the party, but you absolutely crushed this. You hit every beat. You caught basically everything and broke it down perfectly. Thanks for this.
I think you might like Calli's "Live Again". It's a personal fave of mine from hers. Also, greetings from Scandinavia! Keep up the good works Knox! Love your deep analyzes and the softness of it all.
this song makes really feel you nostalgic and it made me cry because its so beautiful. there is some magic in the mix that lets you really think backt to your own old days i dont know if its the calming dreamy lofi mix with the little jumping synths or maybe calli that give this music just that meaning with her own calm singing and the lyrics anyway its a nice song i recommend Red from calliope and Cursed night those two hit diffrent too.
because you liked these songs so far, I feel like having you react to the songs from your mori, her ep from last year would be great. it has like 4 songs and all 4 have something different to showcase as far as her talent. Her songs Red and Bully are personally my absolute faves from that ep
You definitely need to do her entire "Your Mori" EP, her songs "Graveyard Shift" and "Crown" with Boogey Voxx (check for English CCs), "Live Again", and "Q" with another Hololive English member Gawr Gura. During Calli's lyric breakdown stream, she got really emotional talking about the rear-view mirror lines and onward, saying that a bunch of the people she looked up to turned their backs on her when she became successful in Hololive, how she felt guilty about it, and that she just wanted them to be proud of her. There's a clip about it, "Calli gets emotional when explaining the lyrics of her new song"
All I can say is thank you for doing your analysis of Calli's songs. She is a great song writer. "end of a life" is really emotional and you did a great job picking up not only in the rhymes but the story itself...man, and to think that she almost decided not to show it to the world, is crazy. She talked around one hour about the lyrics specifically. It's one of my favorites songs ever. The way it is so personal and poetic. Now I need you to react to RED
A great analysis, super on point. There are a couple details that have a bit different of a meaning in her specific case, but she always says that she wants you to find your own meaning anyhow. Loved the reaction, hope to see more from you! Honestly, I think a good next one for you from here is "Red." Brings the tempo back up a bit but continues with the meaningful lyrics that I think you'll enjoy. EDIT: Do I know how to write coherent sentences? XD
I have heard this song a lot since I found mori through spotify, this was the first time I seen the video, but seeing the words and listening to your breakdown hit me differently, I ended up crying a lot to be honest. I really appreciate your videos, music, and personality. I'm so glad I found this channel.
This is why I love your reaction man, compared to other reactions to her songs, you really break it all down and kinda have a revelation of your own the same way we do, and then we come to an understanding of what the song is really portraying. Your reaction is beautiful and really meaningful man!
Should really look into Hololive Myth's track "Journey of a Thousand Years" as it really shows how Calli's writing changes when writing for a Group with the members in mind while also showing off all of the Girls' Singing talents. There's also Myth or Treat that they did for Halloween and Calli wrote the Song in a night with a little help from some drinks. Also Gura has a Track called Reflect that really follows the image of this and Cursed Night in the sense of accepting who you were, who you are and moving forward with how you want to be.
I'm really curious to what would be your takes on her songs "Bully" and "Red", "Bully" is my definite favorite in terms of meaning, when she explained on stream her making process and her thoughts behind the lyrics my mind was blown..
oh DAMN, that breakdown was on point the entire way through! especially at 13:55. Calli herself did a livestream where she did a breakdown of the song, the lyrics, and hinted at the events. she also sort of broke down emotionally around this part, if i'm remembering correctly. She felt like the villain for being the one to make it out of all of her peers, when all she wanted was for them to be proud of her accomplishments.
Yessss I'm so glad you're enjoying Calli's music! She such a phenomenal musician and just so amazing, I'm always so excited to see people appreciate her talent
As a fan of vtube (and especially Mori, her videos were what got me into that hole in the first place), I really appreciate the effort you gave to reacting to her songs and breaking them down. Nice work dude! Also, your songs’ really great! My fav so far are “I need help” and “Stressed out”. Keep on the awesome work man!
I'm that weeb, who found your channel 'cuz of Calli and I've seen the other reactions , but the way you describe her music in this video, is way better than before , I'm so impressed with your immediate approvement.
I'm loving your Calliope reactions, this is my favorite of hers because she just flows like water on the track and there's so many layers of meaning in the lyrics. For more recommendations, I suggest Red. Another of my favorites is a song she is featured on, Crown by Boogey Voxx. For a tangentially related song, I recommend Wanting, Getting, Wanting by Demondice.
Would love to see a breakdown of Red, your analysis has been on point so far especially since you aren't super familiar with a lot of her history. Really impressive.
Loved seeing these Calli reactions. Gonna throw Demondice into the list of reactions especially their recent album they released. 4 songs that definitely gonna make that opposite side of ya brain come to life
holy shit, i cant believe how on point you are on this rap song breakdown, its like you are a professional rapper yourself hehehe, but serioously that was an amazing breakdown of her song.
You really nailed the analysis on this one. Calli did a lyric analysis stream on this song you could check out if you are interested in seeing her thoughts that went into it. If you want more like this check out Cursed Night. This and that are my favorites of hers.
I'm really happy to see you reacting and analyzing Calli so much, she is one of the most hardworking and talented people I know. I'm too proud of her, she is a role model for me tbh. I'm so happy to see you enjoying her music and "showing" the world her talent at rapping Aghhhh, seriously, you are amazing, it's amazing how you are able to catch so much stuff with so little info. She literally had to make many streams explaining ghe song, and you are getting almost all... of... it... I'm liking you more and more, I hope Calli reacts to some of these, or at least shut them out. Just like how much I think Calli deserves her success, I also think you deserve to reach to more people. You have a lot of talent and I want to see you grow. I'm forever grateful to you for opening my mind when it comes to rap. Before watching one of your videos for the first time, I just thought rap "sounded cool" and "I like how fast it is". Now I really appreciate the genre. My dream scenario would be a collab between you and her. I'm sure it would tur. out to be amazing. WELCOME TO THE HOOOOOOLE, enjoy your stay
Excellent reaction, still watching through it but I'm enjoying what I'm seeing. Also seeing several good comments here. One note: She almost didn't release this song, but as you can tell, it's great she did. It resonated well with many folks and many feel it's one of her best.
I think this is her best song. It's pure poetry and the lyrics are very personal to her but are also vague enough that almost anyone can relate to them. Some of her other songs to check out if you are interested on staying her music I'd recommend checking out "Red," "The Grim Reaper is a Live Streamer," and "Cursed Night."
As someone who can listen to a song 100 times and not know the lyrics, let alone the meaning behind them, these breakdown videos are VERY illuminating.
A great hard hitting song from Calli. She definitely struggled a lot with this one which I saw a lot of people commented on! So thanks for checking it out. The creative process and where it can take you is a real wild ride and sometimes success brings you problems you wouldn't expect. If you were interested in looking at some more really hard-hitting music from someone in the same group as Calli and has worked with her on music (3 songs), I'd recommend Watame's original called "My song". It's basically her history with music and has a lot of her hopes put into it. It's also an absolutely gorgeous fully animated MV.
Just found this recently. As a fan of Calli's music, I really appreciate this break down of the song. You really nailed how she feels about herself and how she's taken that negativity and turned it into music. I hope you keep doing that for more of her music!
One thing that can be easy to miss if you don't have prior knowledge of her story, Hololive is not her first try, she was already in Japan and first tried to grow as an underground rapper. The underground rap scene had a sort of contempt for "produced" artists, and held the "authenticity" of underground artists in higher regard. -This is why her past self is , and also why her present self portays a "villain"
I had heard of Calli before because I love Gura's song covers, but I'd never heard her music, so I've been following your reactions on her songs and her first two were good, though not really my style. But THIS!!! I'm a sucker for reminiscence and peaceful, soft voices. This song is so beautiful, and it's the first time I've heard it, but I'm so glad I heard it first from your reaction because you helped me truly connect with it and appreciate it harder than I ever would have on my own. This song is going on my playlist guaranteed! Keep up the good work my guy! 💚
@@remuladgryta thank you so much for the recommendations that's so kind of you! I have those on my watch later now! I'll have to listen to them when I get a chance!
Also, Dark Hour and Hazy Scraper on her Demondice channel, same vibe as those. You could also try some of the more "rap-ish" songs like Fake Ass Gold, Red and so on. I'm also not into rap but even then she eventually grew on me.
Another great Calli reaction! End of a life is a personal favorite of mine and it definitely hits deep everytime I listen to it. The breakdown on this was pretty spot on, great work! Would love to see a reaction breakdown on "Red" and/or "Cursed night" as well!
This video is amazing, It's so good to see an artist react to another artist, I loved listening to your insight on her lyrics. I learnt things about this song that I wouldn't have picked up on before. And it made me want to scream from all the emotions it was handing out, Beautiful.
This song is so good, I love the very subtle lyric changes like how it goes from Crazy Dream in the beginning to Hazy Dream at the end. Or as Knox here pointed out, it goes from Running Roadless to Driving Roadless. It keeps these sections feeling fresh despite them being repeated.
knox i really want you to react to a song called just breathe, it’s a collaboration with a Japanese rapper SKY-HI and 3racha from stray kids, it’s mostly rap with really nice vocals, the lyrics are so good and the flows are crazy too
Man, I enjoyed your analysis and how you took this whole thing seriously and I appreciate that so much. I had fun listening to your analysis about Calli's songs as someone who also listens to it. In a sense, I'm glad that you aren't just outright praising it for the sake of not making enemies or for the sake of just praising it. I'm glad that you literally analyze the lyrics of her song, and the way her music is constructed to fit or make the narrative that she is going for and that is how you praise it by doing these breakdown or analysis. It's just good! Definitely subbing!
This is definitely one of my favorite songs that calli has made. It just carries so much about Calli and just the smooth and calm vibes it has is just so good. You did a really good job of breaking down the lyrics and reacting to the song. So cool man.
You randomly got suggested to me and this was such an on point analysis of her past/present life. I do hope sometime in the future you give a listen to Boogey Voxx CROWN ft. Mori, old friends reunited.
Always been a huge fan of Mori's a lot of her songs I believe she dedicates to those in the underground rap that she was friends with that don't acknowledge her achievements, like yeah she might not be the person they remember but in the inside she's the same just becoming big especially with HoloLive is difficult, Mori probably auditioned multiple times before getting her contract, she definitely deserves the acknowledgement from those who knew her from those days of her underground rap
amazing breakdown as always Knox, from what I've seen from clips you nailed the whole point of the song (she was reflecting on her past and how she surpassed the people she used to look up to, the song was a sort of way to get it off her chest)
I was so happy to see you react to this calli song. It's such a good song, and so deep and meaningful. You pretty much got all the points I wanted to see you catch. Thank you
Would be interesting to see you check out the latest Demondice EP. Demondice was her original handle before Hololive and she very recently (after inactivity to focus on Hololive I imagine) dropped a new EP under that handle. It absolutely bangs, in my humble opinion.
Congrats on 700k!! Always appreciate you taking the time to dig into the lyrics and pointing out all the awesome and heartfelt details that have been laboriously created, really informative and inspiring!! Keep it going, and God bless you and your family!!
Please please also check out the collab song called "Crown" between Calli and Boogey Voxx. I don't know the full context of the song but to me (and a number of others), it's a song that sounds like the other side of the coin to "end of a life" because for "end of a life", it's more or less a letter to Calli's old friends who have left her and her saying goodbye to them. But in "Crown", it just sounds like Calli is having fun making music and talking to friends who stayed. One thing to note for "Crown" though, is that it's a bilingual song between English and Japanese so you might need to find a translation for a big part of the song if you want to deep dive into the lyrics. Even without knowing the meaning though, I think their flow, rhythm, and cadence alone provide a unique and enjoyable listening experience already so either way, I highly recommend you check it out regardless :D
15:12 - Rewatching your reaction, I just noticed something for the first time: the film burn as she shifted from "...What is there to miss?" to "fade in, fade out". The edit of the video shows the film reel running out as she shifts from one reel to the next and a bit of burn on her recollections as she does so. Such an incredibly subtle effect, but filled with meaning.
I love the way you react to her songs you're pretty much right on reading between the lines and you're doing your best to explain what she wants to convey unlike the other reactors. If you're still interested she has another good song titled scuffed up age.
The incredible depth and accuracy(compared to what she said from her own lyric breakdown) of your reactions is so impressive, really appreciate your content and am looking forward to more
yo, heckin awesome reaction; your breakdowns were VERY accurate to what she explained about the song lyrics afaik. I love how much of the nuance she portrayed that you managed to pick up on; you've got great attention to detail and I appreciate it a lot. If you want another song where she spits like mad but also has a lot of deep personal meaning to the lyrics then I recommend "Red", but 2 other great songs to take note of include "Cursed Nights", which is very much a song where she vents about her emotions, and "The Grim Reaper is a Live-Streamer", which is just a really good bop where she just kinda swags on the flow no sweat. Really loving that you are so hooked on Calli's music, and look forward to seeing more reactions/breakdowns from you!
Hey knox, love how my favorite reactor is bringing new meaning to this heartfelt song. Thank you for reacting to more mori. Glad I could end my day with this.
Quick correction, others in the comments probably already did. Calli did take a huge chance moving to Japan, but she did it to pursue a music career. She had been in Japan for years (I think) before she auditioned for Hololive around the start of COVID. Your reads of the lyrics continue to be VERY spot on, for the most part, like you already know what the songs are about. Great job, looking forward to more!
of course, it's always when i hear your reactions that i discover something i never noticed about the song. in this case, "the wrong tree" in a "concrete jungle" is a combined metaphor, where before only recognized them separate, now i can see the symbols connect and make a whole new meaning. Calli is brilliant, and im glad you're catching these subtleties for me
So glad ya got around to this one Knox. It dropped at a very painful time in my life and helped me ride it out and has become one of my favorite songs. As other comments have said she almost didn't release it because it opens up on her real feelings about her path and hints at things that have happened. You're on point as always with the breakdown man, keep that mind sharp, and I hope you keep on checking out some dope Calliope tunes.

Murda by Klashnekoff, a UK Hip Hop classic that practically changed the genre.
As a representative of the deadbeats, we wish for more Calli
Another UK Classic is Fuck the Hook by Skinnyman, another big recommendation.
Well I am not really a huge Vtuber fan, but I like good music, Mori Calliope has two other songs that are interesting imo
" [MV] いじめっ子 Bully- Calliope Mori " a complete tone change
and
" DEAD BEATS - Calliope Mori " (dead beats refers to her fans) more of a Bar based meme song.
Yo should react to the BZRP music sessions #49. It's in spanish but it's AMAZING. ☺️✨. You would LOVE Residente/René.
💖
damn knowing the meaning of this song makes its so much more special
Yeah knowing the full context makes this hit different.
She have the bloody iron heart to make trade and sacrifice
But that’s heart is softer bc her kindness to their own friends
She though but dead inside
And become Death itself
Since people saw the positive side of this, I shall be that jerk to say the negative. When your friends won't cheer in your sucess and shun you instead, I think they are not worth waiting for. Regardless of what they have done for you in the past, they don't own your future. You don't step on people, continue and don't look back otherwise.

3 of her hololive genmates sang this song as a trio at their latest concert. I bet she was crying like a baby. I know I was.
Real. That hit very hard with Ame leaving.
Atleast we have dooby though
This song's got some interesting layers, the most interesting to me is the death of a 'life' that was the indie/underground rap scene in japan over the last few years, -- "When the ladder fell and shattered every bar that we had played" covid literally killed bars. hundreds of them that will never open again, the scene will never completely recover all while she found insane success the world she knew was ending
she not only got to meet and be around the heroes she had that got her into music in the first place, she got to befriend them and spend years of her life running around the city with them, doing live shows, making music, working together... only for them to treat her like the bad guy when her success hit as their world ended.
She have the bloody iron heart to make trade and sacrifice
But that’s heart is softer bc her kindness to their own friends
She though but dead inside
And become Death itself
Fuck, I never even considered the COVID aspect of it and the impact it had.
The layers never end, man. Thanks for pointing that out.
Yes, I'd love if he'd look at Crown even if half of it is Japanese
Do you have a link to the sauce? I would love to hear the full story!

34:24 for the lyric dive
@@frossy8538 thank you! Really appreciate it!
Most likely Calli's space references is mostly referring to how she's an American who moved Japan and how at times that can feel "alien" if I remember correctly.
Yep. "Outer space" is a metaphor she uses frequently for her moving to Japan, as well as just the journey into the unknown / striving for her goals.
Wonderful reaction, even after working with her it can get hard to notice all the subtilities in her lyric writing and i love that content like this helps to appreciate the full picture, thank you so much ! Awesome content, really
You did a great job with this MV
I agree, his insight is just amazing.
@@Ken14112Thank you !
You introduced me to calliope , now i heard all of her songs , but came here to just see your reaction. i may have never knew her , but cause of you she is now in my playlist.
You are also an amazing musicians. I always check your video wheather it is reaction video or music video.
If you want to listen to more of her, search up DemonDice on yt
Welcome deadbeat, enjoy your stay my good sir!
Welcome aboard. More of a shark enthusiast myself, but boy does Calli hit hard in all things music.
@@Crandon-de1st yeah man i checked most of her songs and demondice too. It was too good.
@@rararasputin8608 Gura and Mori are my favorite
It's also rough because of the Rona, she hasn't been able to see her family in years. And a lot of her friends in the comeup are in another country, in the past.
This is her best song ...as Mori. I think there's clip of her talking about this song breakdown if you're interested.
The deadbeats really appreciate your lyrical breakdowns and giving your feedback. You and Scru are the best when it comes to reacting to bars lol.
Bruh this dude deserves more attention like that way he breaks down the meaning of the lyrics are all on point daeymm
At the end of the song, it becomes clear that Calli overcame all this and stopped blaming herself for what happened, since it was not her fault that only she, having put much less effort into it, unlike others, became popular("Stop the pity party, listen you don't get to be dismayed
. You don't get to be emotional, feel blessed you got it made").
I think that's it, I really hope I've helped you with my explanation and I'm waiting for your new videos!!
P.S. Sorry if my English is bad lol
You english is fine dont worry man.
I still come back to Live Again no matter what. It just sticks with me somehow.
live again will always be a classic in our hearts.
Dad maybe a rapper but she excels best when shes just singing
This song and live again are similar in a way that live again says goodbye to her old life while this song is reminiscing on the life she left behind.
this song makes really feel you nostalgic and it made me cry because its so beautiful. there is some magic in the mix that lets you really think backt to your own old days i dont know if its the calming dreamy lofi mix with the little jumping synths or maybe calli that give this music just that meaning with her own calm singing and the lyrics anyway its a nice song i recommend Red from calliope and Cursed night those two hit diffrent too.
because you liked these songs so far, I feel like having you react to the songs from your mori, her ep from last year would be great. it has like 4 songs and all 4 have something different to showcase as far as her talent.
This is my favorite song from Calli. The lyrics, the music, the singing, the rapping everything hit just right. She's such a phenomenal talent.
Holy shit you fucking nailed this one man, good job.
I love her line "Stop the Pity Party" just because it's a good use of alliteration and it's a fire ass bar🔥
I'll be honest. I was not expecting you to go so deep on the lyrics. I really appreciate you brother.
God this song just makes me wanna cry sometimes. It’s just so fucking good. Great reaction and analysis to the song dude. Keep it up.
I'm so happy to see you enjoying her music and "showing" the world her talent at rapping
Aghhhh, seriously, you are amazing, it's amazing how you are able to catch so much stuff with so little info.
Damn i've watched a few reactions to this song but nobody actually managed to pick it apart as well as you - big respect!
The first time I listened to "End of a Life", I cried like a baby.. It's hands down one of my favorite song from Calli so far.
bro i contemplated about my life for a whole 3 days because of this
Just found this recently.
You may also enjoy "Cursed Night" and "Live Again"
@@remuladgryta thank you so much for the recommendations that's so kind of you! I have those on my watch later now! I'll have to listen to them when I get a chance!
Also, Dark Hour and Hazy Scraper on her Demondice channel, same vibe as those.
You could also try some of the more "rap-ish" songs like Fake Ass Gold, Red and so on. I'm also not into rap but even then she eventually grew on me.
@@l0kk016 thanks a lot! I sure will!
Another great Calli reaction! End of a life is a personal favorite of mine and it definitely hits deep everytime I listen to it. The breakdown on this was pretty spot on, great work! Would love to see a reaction breakdown on "Red" and/or "Cursed night" as well!
You're really quick at picking up things and piecing things together. I'm really enjoying these reactions
I love this song a lot. I love how good she is at writing in character while simultaneously keeping it real.
Your breakdowns are amazingly on point. I really hope you do more Calli. I personally recommend bully!
If you want bars definitely listen to "Deadbeats" by her.
im really loving your breakdowns man, more calli reactions lets go!
knox i really want you to react to a song called just breathe, it’s a collaboration with a Japanese rapper SKY-HI and 3racha from stray kids, it’s mostly rap with really nice vocals, the lyrics are so good and the flows are crazy too
All three of the Calliope reactions have been good, but holy crap you hit some of the deep notes on this one's interpretation. Respect
This is exactly what I was waiting for and I loved it man. Thank you for the reaction!
Discovering new artists / songs on International Mondays are the best way to start your week! Adding Calliope Mori to my playlist. Thanks Knox
Thanks for the reaction. This is my favorite song by Calli, it's so emotional and I never tire of listening to it.
Fiasco?! Neither Calliope nor Knox will ever be a fiasco for me! This was nearly 21 minuts of QUALITY content :D
honestly, that was so well broken down. 👏👏👏
I was waiting for this reaction and you didn't disappoint can't wait for the next cali reaction
Great breakdown. Congratulations on 700k too
I'm a proud deabeat here. You should totaly check out her track called "Deadbeats" She mixes dark rhymes with humor in that one. :)
Congrats on 700k!! Always appreciate you taking the time to dig into the lyrics and pointing out all the awesome and heartfelt details that have been laboriously created, really informative and inspiring!! Keep it going, and God bless you and your family!!
Holy shit this was a pleasant surprise. Big ups Knox, your breakdown was probably the most accurate that I've seen hahah
Honestly, End of a life is my favorite out of all Calli' song since it somewhere resonate deeply with me.
This is by and far my favorite song from her. Among my all times. Beautifully written masterclass in songwriting.
my boi thank u for actually talkin nice bruh thank u for reacting. honestly we dont care when yall pause its expected in a reaction channel. 🤣
Love Cali reacts hope we get a lot more
oh wow, you are both very musically and lyrically knowledgeable!
of course, it's always when i hear your reactions that i discover something i never noticed about the song. in this case, "the wrong tree" in a "concrete jungle" is a combined metaphor, where before only recognized them separate, now i can see the symbols connect and make a whole new meaning.
Calli said that this song was close to not getting publish which insane it's an amazing song and one of my favorite song from her.
