Cut The Bridge is apparently getting a lot of play right now. I'd be curious what Chris' take is on the song, though I kind of feel like the "cutting" of the song from this review says it all. 😅
The outstanding song for me is ‘Good things go’. It touches me to the core. And that after 30 years of listening to AC/DC all the time. I would never have thought that a song could bring me to the brink of an emotional loss of control - Emily manages that with her voice in this song. No words.
I love in IGYEIH how they kept a lot of Emily's vocal mannerisms completely unchanged, from how she often lets phrases end by going up into a squeaky sigh, that charge up she does right before the end of the intro, etc. It's the song where the vocal takes sound most like her Dead Sara work.
There were instances Emily's vocals reminded me of Chester a lot in a very positive manner. She holds the torch passed on to her with a lot of care and respect.
The last bit of "Good things Go" is absolutely gorgeous, i agree. Wish youd upload a reaction of the full song. Emily definitely shows off her potential
I'm with you, Chris! Just in love with "Good Things Go". I loved when she cracks her voice on "lack of self control", like, interpreting the lyrics through voice techniques
Total agreement on Good Things Go. It swings for the fences and absolutely connects. Favorite track on the album. I knew there would be absolute gold outside of the singles.
Good things go surprise this is my favorite song on the album and I think it's one of Linkin Park's best songs ever. Went straight to my soul with Emily's range.
I also like "Good Things Go" the most from them, because Emily shows how huge her vocal range is. Second is the "Two Faced". Screaming can be learned, but a voice is like a gift from God. Chester had the same gift. I love that band.
I always love your content, so much so that I wish this album review was longer as I get so much out of your content. This album is phenomenal on so many fronts but mainly vocally. I think Mike has stepped up to the plate doing all the male lead vocals. His singing voice has improved so much. It's a joy to hear him sing on this album. Now for the star of the album, Ms. Armstrong. Emily's performance is nothing short of stellar. You really get the full picture of the different facets of her voice, the textures she can access at will. "Good Things Go" is a gorgeous song, the perfect song with which to end off the album. It's a treat listening to Emily push her melodic vocals to the brink of the top end of her range into that grit. Absolutely beautiful, heartfelt and is probably my favorite song on the album as well. I think it's also my favorite singing vocal performance from Mike on the album, too. All in all, "From Zero" is a sold 9/10 for me.
@mwh369 she was born into it, which makes her a victim. honestly, you tearing into her for something she had no choice in says more about you than her.
3:14 about Over Each other, I feel like this song is a mix of Talking to Myself and Until It's Gone, because it has the personal lyrics and the epic-sounding music progression Mike loves to do in a lot of songs lately. It feels fresh but at the same time familiar, and it's in my top 3 of this album. The other two are Good Things Go (epic build-up, reminds me of Powerless and the lyrics resonate with me) and Stained (the hip hop vibe blends so well with the rock instrumental and I like the melodies). Loved your reaction, yours is probably the most complete and objective there is on YT for how you have the knowledge to analyse both the voice and the music and remain neutral even though you're a big fan of Linkin Park. Wanna add: Cut The Bridge is pretty underrated. It might sound simple, very generic, but it has little details like the drums being pretty dynamic with little changes here and there and the fact it is the longest song in the album (I like long songs). Casualty on the other hand, while I love how Mike sounds here, is too short and left me wanting more, like an epic second bridge with different lyrics in the last chorus (similar to A Line In The Sand) ,or a guitar solo in the style of The Hunting Party
The album review I have been waiting for. And I have never heard someone describe screams as "peel the paint off the walls." 😆Also everyone just renaming Two Faced as Two Steps is amazing.
Chris, thank you for being so passionate about the vocal, melodies, music - I've really enjoyed the video ❤ my favorite songs are Overflow and Good Things Go too)
"Overflow" and "Good Things Go" were co-written by Jake Torrey (Grammy-nominated writer for 21 Pilots and more.). This may be why these lyrics were hypnotically different and so incredibly good. My two favorite songs on the album.
Good Things Go is absolutely the best song on this album! Hands down in my opinion I agree wholly with you in the build up and production but also her vulnerability matched with the grit matched with heart.
I think overflow really hits it out of the park by playing notes from "crawling" near the peak. It gives this strong nostalgia along with the already strong performance
the last song hit different. The punk riff and the vocals brought me back to my early teens like nothing before. In love with the entire album though. 🖤
Good Things Go is definitely the masterpieace of this ablum and i hope they will reliese it in a single. Great return from Linkin Park. By the way, I listened yesterday the last album with Chester, and for sure it was way different in comparaison of the previous albums , but I found it curiously quite good. It is definitely pop, but it sent me some energy.
Definitely felt the vibes of Chris Cornell's and Chester Bennington's voice in "Good Things Go." What can I say, I get emotional to practically every song on this album. I can't help myself from getting teary-eyed. It's so good that it's got me pouring out with a tremendous amount of feelings of sadness yet topped with happiness as well. I can't refrain myself from thinking about Chester, but yet I am fully embracing Emily and the rest of the band simultaneously.
Two Faced was my favorite at first and now I'm obsessed with IGYEIH 😂 I really love the album. Stained reminds me of Katy Perry so its my least fave on there but still a solid track
Love this album, from before hybrid thoery to this album in 2024 Linkin park are back found a new sound with a talented vocelist, wonderful!!! Tickets for 25, come on!!!!
I like that people are digging Overflow. It's interesting how sometimes one of the best tracks on a metal album is not exactly metal. Other example would be Crush on Periphery's Hail Stan
For me, slower albums in full are boring, too hard albums are too hard, from Zero is the best cause it balances out everything. I loved your analysis as always despite you messed up cut the bridge :D
The whole album is great, but for me the last three tracks are something else. Not that they're any better than the rest of the songs. I just think they found the perfect combination there
Ok. I know you are mostly into the low voices. Have you listened to Corvyx My Heart Will Go On - Male singer? If not I will join your Patreon to donate for you to listen. Please let me know. This will blow you away.
The interesting thing about Over Each Other is that Mike actually wrote this song before Emily was brought in. They talked about this in an interview. Mike originally sang the song himself before realizing it wasn’t right for him. I can’t even imagine what his voice would have sounded like on this song…

I'm confused 😂😂
That some Hybrid Analysis. Lol
Cut The Bridge is apparently getting a lot of play right now. I'd be curious what Chris' take is on the song, though I kind of feel like the "cutting" of the song from this review says it all. 😅
Good Things Go is a masterpiece.
Overflow became one of my favorite songs ever, I honestly don't know how to explain better than how you did!
So good
The outstanding song for me is ‘Good things go’. It touches me to the core. And that after 30 years of listening to AC/DC all the time. I would never have thought that a song could bring me to the brink of an emotional loss of control - Emily manages that with her voice in this song. No words.
love love love good things go
This song is especially good listening to it in the context of the loss of Chester
Love this one so much

As soon as I heard Good Things Go I was amazed, knew that would be one of your favourites
I love Mikes vocal work on this album. He doesn't have the greatest singing voice but he is just such a fantastic harmonizer, in the studio and live.
Thank you Chris for giving the people what we want 🙌
Good things go surprise this is my favorite song on the album and I think it's one of Linkin Park's best songs ever. Went straight to my soul with Emily's range.
Same
Good things go is a 10/10 for me. The fact that one of the last lines of this album is “thank you”(in context or not) means so much to me😢
Overflow is my fave right now!!
Justice for Cut The Bridge ✊😅
yes it needed an honourable mention at least 😃
@@peregrine42 it's one of my favourites off the album man 💚
Good Things Go is incredible. The beautiful, painful sounds Emily makes with her voice speak to my soul.
Yes! I was hoping for this video
A day before the album came out, I said it was my 3rd favourite LP album, and my mind hadn't changed when it released. Truly a great piece of music.
Thats a great review, I just wish you would release a full breakdown and reaction videos about all of them
Justice for cut the bridge
I also like "Good Things Go" the most from them, because Emily shows how huge her vocal range is. Second is the "Two Faced". Screaming can be learned, but a voice is like a gift from God. Chester had the same gift. I love that band.

i was thinking the same, i saw the timestamp and i thought "wait... this is not Cut The Bridge" 😂
@@max_91 Same!! And I really like CTB as a song XD

She doesnt deserve any of the hate she's getting, chester would be proud
Amazing Song.. ❤
The hate is due to her lifelong support of an extremely abusive cult. Are you a member as well?
She's been getting hate since the Scientology-thing?
@mwh369 she was born into it, which makes her a victim.
honestly, you tearing into her for something she had no choice in says more about you than her.

I love Two Step Chris, but I also love Two Faced.
i knew you will like Good Things Go, hands dow the best in the album an top 10 in my all time

Overflow has transformed from a song I really wasn't keen on first listen, into probably one of my favourites on the album. It's incredible.
Overflow is the most unique, interesting song on the album in my opinion.

These are my 3 favorites
1. Overflow
2. IGYEIH
3. Good things go
I still have to figure out if it's more the wait for a record or for your review of a new record.
Two Faced was my favorite at first and now I'm obsessed with IGYEIH 😂 I really love the album.
Stained reminds me of Katy Perry so its my least fave on there but still a solid track
There is nothing of Katty Perry in there (Stained), sounds much more like Cranberries (Dolores O'Riordan), mixed with T.a.t.u, and Demi Lovato.
Love this album, from before hybrid thoery to this album in 2024 Linkin park are back found a new sound with a talented vocelist, wonderful!!! Tickets for 25, come on!!!!
good things go- best for me

1. A Thousand Suns
2. Living Things
3. From Zero
4. Minutes to Midnight.
Hybrid Theory and Meteora are at the bottom of any list for me.
Good things go is also my fav songs on the album!
Emily give's me some Avril Vibe's in some Songs. I loved young Avril. Don't her new Stuff that much. But Emily is Fire. ❤
you unironically cut cut the bridge lmao
I like that people are digging Overflow. It's interesting how sometimes one of the best tracks on a metal album is not exactly metal. Other example would be Crush on Periphery's Hail Stan
it's funny, i was reminded of chris cornell as well on the first single or two back when they came out, but i still can't put my finger on it
Some parts remind me of Arch Enemy in a higher key. I never thought I'd ever say that about Linkin Park. Happy days.
Two Step hehe I’m calling it that from now on
Overflow, Stained, and The Emptiness Machine are the ones I repeat the most. I'm not into nostalgia boners but Two Face was a fun track.
we both have the favorite song
