    Hey guys!
Back in July, 2021 at John Petrucci's Guitar Camp, Tosin Abasi and I were chatting just before my master class . I thought the conversation was pretty cool so I decided to setup my phone on top of a chair 9 sorry about the audio/video quality) and filmed the whole thing.
Two guitar nerds talking about music : )
So here it is for you! Enjoy! Let me know what you think !

Tosin's playing is very hypnotic and unique, but it sounds best in certain keys using the open strings. While Kiko is more of a schooled musician that can transpose in any key, a little more versatile, phenomenal hand coordination. But Tosin sounds like Tosin, which is special, since so many guitarist sound like other guitarist.

I really appreciate that you brought up Schoenberg and atonal music. It's interesting when you start working with tone rows and atonality and realizing that keys matter much less than just the relationship between individual notes. Understanding for instance the sound and function of a minor scale is important, but not as important to me as understanding specifically what sound a minor 6th has and knowing that it's also a major 3rd depending on the context. Context is everything.
Nice shirt by the way, as someone who's a few different kinds of nerd I couldn't comment without bringing that up. lol

It specially impresses me how he plays brazilian tunes and how he made it work with a finnish woman (I didn't). I love you and appreciate immensely your music and your down-to-earthness.

Tom Jobim FOREVER!
