I actually love how they made the extra effort in the Colecovision version to make the walking animation really fluid instead of the original three frames. It's a nice bonus there!
That Colecovision port was spot on for the hardware but the ZX Spectrum version may be even more technically impressive. The rest were pretty underwhelming.
@@mariomario1849 Old ass comment, but it seems like there were some real sound emulation issues with the X68000 version, it doesn't normally sound like that.
13 reminds me how much a pain in the ass it was back then to play those old games not because of speed or sound, but because of the limitations of sprites it was sometimes very difficult to keep on top of what you could touch and what would kill you.
The fourth one is basically the same as the original just with different music and character sprite. I'm surprised Nintendo didn't copyright claim that.
It can look great it has 15 colours however most programmers don't like colour clash so they opted to not have as much colour. The spectrum was a great budget alternative to the C64 or Amstrad cpc in the Uk and has more software than the cpc.Seriously it's software library is huge
It's using the Nirvana+ multicolour engine. There's been a few multicolour engines for the Spectrum developed in the last decade or so but I think this is the most recent. The same author made a platformer a couple of years after this called Gandalf (using the same engine), it's well worth checking out, almost Master System like graphics.
My favorite was the MSX because for the music but my least was the Sharp X68000 because when you wait, you hear the noise I don't like. The high pitch.
I tried it. If you really want to play it, you need to know that you don't stop moving if you release the key to go left or right. To stop you have to press the opposite direction. Very annoying but you can get used to it. Also small jumps are better for headbutting enemies
i still don' t think any version (other than the nes) of any arcade game can beat the original arcade version, but the zx spetrum one is very impressive!
Ario Bros.... that's just bad.... I mean the best thing about it is they ripped the sprite from super Mario world... and that disappears when hitting an enemy!
There was just so much they could have improved. And they even made a few things worse! In the first Ario Bros version, when you kill an enemy, it just vanishes, but in the second one, it takes a decade to see the animation of it end! And the enemy and player graphics dont even fit with the text playfield
4:57 Okay lemme get this clear. It's called "BROTHER ADVENTURE"?? We have bootleg Mario with a fedora. The start music is ripped off from Dig Dug. The clear music is ripped off from Metro-Cross. Idk where the level music is from but I'm almost certain that was stolen too.
Looks to be made by Zemina i think the name was. The same idiots who created a SG-1000 and MSX clone of Super Mario Brothers and possibly the Dr. Hello bootleg game
