    I remember doing this years ago and wow... this guide is so much simpler especially with the alignment! I remember back in the day slowly re-adjusting the head over and over again!

    OMG I failed aligning the drive and avoided the Springs disassemble so I bought another Disk System already repaired.
    This is the most simple and straightforward video I have ever seen and I saw a lot of others.
    I am going to save this and try it out next time I need! Thank you so much!

    I just purchased a Famicom and Disc System in Akihabara that was refurbished and modded to allow it to be used on an LCD TV. :D Fired it up at the hotel and I'm enjoyed the enhanced soundtrack to a couple different games.
    There are some mods out there that allow the re-writing of discs. Apparently people have been doing it since the mid-90s.

    • @ScruffyLookinRGB
      @ScruffyLookinRGB  ปีที่แล้ว

      Congratulations on joining the FDS club! Re writing disc mod is an interesting one i may venture into in the future. One thing is for sure the Disk System is a Classic.

    I normally use another method that called the easy belt replacement but it’s not working for all disk systems. Thanks for this one 😊

    • @ScruffyLookinRGB
      @ScruffyLookinRGB  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great! Glad to hear it. The easy belt method sounds interesting. I wonder if it is the same way i think it is🤔 There is an easier way but this is the surefire way to get them working 💪 😉 Let me know how your refurb goes. 👍

    So fresh and so clean. Clean!
    I’m around 300 nes games. As cool as it would be to have a disk drive famicom it’s also just another pit of money that I shouldn’t spend unfortunately. Still so cool to learn more about the system

    The best and easiest method out there. I am 3 for 3 using Scruffy's method. All 3 read both factory and rewrites.

    So many little and moving pieces. As always I enjoy your sense of humor and sound effects make me chuckle. At the same time very informative as well. It's a shame it never left Japan but very cool you got it up and running. If you're able to find a Scruffy non-working AES Neo Geo it would be a great video but don't now how easy it is to find a broken one on the cheap.

    • @ScruffyLookinRGB
      @ScruffyLookinRGB  ปีที่แล้ว

    Have a sharp twin famicom --- trying to follow this video -- assume its the same drive as in the stand alone FDS.....took the three springs out -- the top black piece does not want to move - your video makes it look like it just pops out ez pz. ...no such luck

    • @ScruffyLookinRGB
      @ScruffyLookinRGB  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Try pushing the yellow button. If that don't work there is a white translucent release towards the back of the unit it's under the black piece so you may need a small long tool to unlatch it. Oh and yes disc system and twin fami disc are the same.

  • @Codescardbarn
    @Codescardbarn ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video and I might have missed it but why would a disk system play disc games like originals but not re written disks?

    • @ScruffyLookinRGB
      @ScruffyLookinRGB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good questin. Could be just a weak copy these disks are magnetic and are getting older so the chance of failure is high in my opinin.

    • @charles2133
      @charles2133 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It could be that the writer had a slightly different alignment.

    My FDS has exceedingly long load times. I was playing Gun.Smoke and it was like 1 to 2 minutes load times between levels. Any idea why that might be?

    • @ScruffyLookinRGB
      @ScruffyLookinRGB  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Could be the belt is starting to go.

  • @CiSTm_K0nFLiqT

    I tried with the same kind of belt, but it always slip up the white wheel when I turn it to calibrate. If somebody have some advice about that...

      I would try using a slightly longer mobilon band that should do the trick
