You forgot to mention that Radahn was so difficult that From had to put in a patch to nerf him to make him slower and adjust the lighting on his attacks to make it easier to see.
Twice they nerfed him once in the base game and the second in the DLC I still remember beating radahn in the base game like a couple weeks or so before the nerf and I went and fought him again on a new character after the nerf and it was genuinely night and day how much easier he was from before
The worst enemy in Shadow of the Erdtree is the camera, especially fighitng Consort Radahn. Starting with NG+4 I needed help from other players to beat Radahn and Miquella. Malenia is tough, but once you learn her moves and tells of what attack she'll use she just gets more hp and drains more hp and hits harder with each NG+ level. Even after the nerfs, Radahn and the camera (they use the same camera Kubrick used in The Shining, that does it's own thing unrelated to what you want it to show) get a big spike with each NG+ level.

@peterdubois7276 I raged so hard because I couldn't see anything pre-nerf Consort. It took me like 2 hours to beat him, and that was cuz I got lucky. I haven't fought him post-nerf cuz I'm catching up on other games, but I've watched comparison videos and it seems at least slightly better now.

The Valkyrie from GoW 2018 shook me so much that when I was given the option to fight another in Ragnarok I looked at her, turned around and said “Nah im good. And I hear she is HARDER than the first one. Nope she can stay where she’s at” just avoided her ass altogether. I didn’t need nor desire to revisit a rage inducing fight. Still haven’t fought her once nor do I plan to EVER fight her.

Yes, Eigong is no joke; it took me on and off for a few days to beat her. It's definitely one of my top 5 hardest boss fights ever. I struggled with her timing more than I did with Consort Radahn. I just beat Nine Sols yesterday; it's awesome. More people need to get it; it's just so good and an awesome challenge. I really hope there will be some type of DLC for it, but game on people.🎮 🤙
I believe he meant that, in the *actual* attempt in which he beat that boss, the fight took him about an hour, which is an absurd length of time... Pretty sure that meant several hours or days of failed attempts, practices, etc.
yeah, I doubt that he learned all the moves in one hour and survived all 3 phases. also, hes using ressurect jade, which is making the fight easier. but hey, beating her on standard mode is an achievement in itself
I think the length of the fight for a casual (non-speedrun) is between 10-15 minutes. So anyone who claims they beat it in an hour is basically saying they beat it in under 6 attempts, which is complete bullshit because of what would be new unpredictable moves introduced in each phase 😛
Eigong was probably the only boss I encountered where I had to stop, and look at every aspect of my character to find the perfect build just to beat them.
The area with Bale and the battle was the most epic feel of the Dlc.....fighting multiple dragons on the way up, the lightning blasting everywhere, the music, the atmosphere......❤❤❤
As a recovering alcoholic myself (22 months currently) if anyone had come and smashed my whiskey bottle then that scorpion from Black Myth Wukong would have had nothing on me lol Kinda weird but I empathize with a scorpion
You know a boss is hard when you have to at least beat one of the phase without taking a hit that's basically Eigong, tbh I wish most of the bosses in nine souls was as had as her cus the pary and talisman mechanic is so fun
I always say this for these kinds of lists; There's a fine line between difficulty and cheap or bad design. These kinds of button mashing, QTE, perfect dodge, perfect counter, perfect guard, etc battle systems are why I'm kind of over modern games. Not everything has to be Elden Ring.
Yeah, but the reason those types of games are popular is because lots of people have risen to that type of challenge and beaten it - now they dont get the same enjoyment out of laid back / simple boss fights that act more like a final cutscene to a game which people like you must enjoy

(SPOILER!!!, If you don't want to get spoiled please don't read this comment) Yes, at my first playthrough i directly went to fight Duskveil, and this guy came out of nowhere and helped me in first phase of that fight. Looks like if you didn't fight him and if you fight Duskveil, Scorpionlord will appear out of nowhere. Also there is some interesting lore between Duskveil and Scorpion lord. Looks like Duskveil killed the latter's wife with its crow's sound and the stingy lord want some revenge, if you play well against Scorpion lord he will tell one dialogue (not exact words sorry), "Please have mercy, i want a blood feud to resolve.." smth like that.
I can't believe how good Black Myth Wukong is. I had pretty high expectations for it but what they created absolutely blew my mind. One of the greatest games I have ever played.
It took me around 20 attempts in NG+ (I'm dumb for going into the DLC in NG+) but I got him too. Have you tried the turtle bleed build? Big shield, bleed weapon and just poke.
Hey. Quick fix. Rulers of the outer worlds in FF7 Rebirth is 5 rounds, not 4. You fight Virtual Sephiroth in the end who does an unblockable grab, unless you perfect parrry it, and hits you with an omnislash, killing your entire party immediately, and he does this over and over until he's at 50 percent health.
to beat dragon zord all you have to do is running towards it before it launch the rocket. keep close to it and punch it as much as you can. that's from me for you two experience gamers.

V Rising Brutal Dracula on Multiplayer. You need PERFECT coordination. The reason for Multi-player specifically is b/c during his first and second phases he has 2 new mechanics that are exclusive to MP. During his wolf transformation in P1 he also summons 2 permanent wolves that need to be killed, but due to the brutal difficulty modifiers they are TANKS and hit like a truck trying to isekai you through a video game. The next MP exclusive mechanic is "vampiric curse," essentially heart strike on steroids as it hits in a MASSIVE area around you. It can be dodged out of at the last moment, but at that point you've already taken the melee hit and getting hit in that fight is practically 1/3 of your health gone.
Heh, I actually thought of one for you. The DLC bosses of prince of Persia-broken crown. Especially Artaban, the guy who’s been training you the whole time
I beat the Rancor on my first try, it wasn't very hard and I played the game at launch. It isn't a good boss, though, you are right about your other criticisms.
It could be that the power rangers boss is designed to have everyone in the party get a shot at the boss… could you imagine the first player beating the boss without letting anyone else get a hit in.
Bayle was the hardest fight in Shadow of the Erdtree for me. I absolutely melted Messmer first try, and the magic shield enchantment thing and mohg’s trident for radahn absolutely destroyed him relatively easily
Metaphors Refantazios final fight with Louise is a pain in the ass fight on the harder difficulties. I feel that’s a good honorable mention that is also in a different genre.
With Bael, if your playstyle is hiding behind a shield with a BHF while your mimic tear and igon constantly distract him to the point where his movements are insanely sporadic, then OF COURSE its going to be a nightmare to hit the head and do ANY kind of damage. Summoning help just makes fights far more difficult to land hits on them because they are vaulting across an entire arena to attack your summons, go figure! Its Malenia, not Melania, Radahn, not Raddon And Shen is leaps and bounds harder than Broken Shell, but far.
I feel like the Voss boss fight from Indiana Jones and the Great Circle should be here.That boss fight took me an hour to complete and I was on normal difficulty!
I actually liked the rancor fight in outlaws. For once you feel the actual scale of a creature boss fight. It feels how helpless and squishy you are compared to the scale of the rancor, which is what made it even more rewarding when you take it out. Although the fight itself could have more variety rather than just blowing cylinders over it's head.
Radahn has been beaten by a guy playing with only a Guitar Hero guitar as controller. He played the whole main story + dlc with that thing. Impressive. Abrahamsandwich here on TH-cam.
Thank god they put Eigong. One of the hardest bosses EVER. If you mess up once she just destroy you. One single miss timing parry and she burns your HP and if you dodge too early she nuke you. She's sooo soooo hard! I struggled more with her than any Souls,Sekiro,Nioh or any other "hard game". It took a solid amount of hours to beat her. My hands HURT after battle her
As a big FromSoftware fan, I often feel like I’ve experienced the best and most difficult boss fights out there and it’s pointless for other companies to even try. But 2024 surprised me. I enjoyed a lot of boss fights this year and I must admit the occasional gimmicky one does succeed at keeping me on my toes. There’s genuinely nothing like it in video games when you have a difficult boss with a steep learning curve, especially if it’s a character that pertains to the story in a big way. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next
Thr hardest boss that i faced so far has to be the Citadelle Des Morts boss fight. It starts out semi slow paced but after the first phase he starts to move faster and his attacks hits way harder and the then last phase he's on crack but doing the easter egg with competent allies helps.
I'm still only on chapter 4 but I feel that Yellowbrow (chapter 3's main boss) in Wukong was quite challenging. If anything, just because of his gold armour gimmick, and the fact that the options are quite limited as far as breaking it is concerned. Although I will concede that he's quite harmless once you figure that out
FYI, only 21% of players have defeated Erlang Shen and 26% have managed to defeat The Great Sage's Broken Shell so far. That's how hard those two bosses are. 😂
Metaphor Refantazio- Devourer of Stars... That fight was *MISERABLE.* And I'm used to tough fights in Shin Megami Tensei, but they made this dude such a pain in the ass! Deflects ALL magical & physical damage, has the ability to give himself 8 press turns, can reset all debuffs placed on himself & negates all buffs on your party... Oh, and he puts AOE Hex & Poison status ailments on you. What an unfun POS. I defeated him, but it wasn't exactly fun rebuilding my entire party, cooking up items & trying to figure out cheese strategies to get through.
I feel like bosses like that are designed like that on purpose just cause the devs think its funny to watch players suffer through what really is BS design
Hard difficulty is the only difficulty I've experienced in Stellar Blade and while Providence is indeed a hard fight, there's an alternate final boss fight that can be even more difficult. And an honorable mention goes to Raven.

Scorpionlord is the only boss in black myth that made me take a few days to think about strategies and builds. I was steamrolling everybody until him. Only boss to take me a few Irish goodbyes before I screamed in victory when I finally beat him.
For a while there (the no tutorial era) some games were deliberately harder by design, because the blood-thirsty "masochists" among us were demanding it and designers were all in. As a long time gamer, I'm not ashamed to admit how many times I had to come back bruised to a boss fight because the achievements junkie in me would not be deprived. 😂
Haven't fought consort since they nerfed him but the best strat then was to use a spear with scarlet rot and hide behind a greatshield. It's cheesy but he was such a pain to deal with, never felt bad about it.
I played 1 - 1.5hrs per day for like 20 days to defeat him. I tried many strat but finally i beat him by just parrying which was so easy. But took lot of time to learn parry. The moment i finished him they nerfed him with new patch 😂.
It was miserable. But for whatever reason, Messmer was like 3x harder to beat for me. Maybe cuz I tackled that fight with medium blessings. Im not sure. But it took me like 7-8 hours to beat Messmer.

The toughest of stellar blade was raven, well for me at least all the rest were manageable.
Yeah i hated that she blocked all your special attacks plus the vergil attack in the second phase was so hard to dodge

Raven became manageable in story mode, the transformer did not. I died a dozen times even after lowering the difficulty

Nine Sols is such an incredible game, and the fight against true ending Eigong was legendary. Glad to see it get its recognition.

I found the broken sage much harder than erlang. Errand only took me 3-4 tries for some reason

Use Fingerprint Stone Shield, it blocks all physical and holy damage and a weapon with bleed. I used Morgott's greatsword, with the 65 bleed build up

The next MP exclusive mechanic is "vampiric curse," essentially heart strike on steroids as it hits in a MASSIVE area around you. It can be dodged out of at the last moment, but at that point you've already taken the melee hit and getting hit in that fight is practically 1/3 of your health gone.

I beat the Rancor on my first try, it wasn't very hard and I played the game at launch. It isn't a good boss, though, you are right about your other criticisms.
Use the dragon katana again Bayle the dread and the fights a breeze.
Wouldn't call it a breeze, but it's definitely the winning strat.

As a general rule, I hate boss fights, because they can, and often do, instantly turn a fun game into a miserable one.

I remember doing Isshin in 8 tried on my first playthrough. I had LEARNT the game mechanics and really used the proper parrying to my advantage
It could be that the power rangers boss is designed to have everyone in the party get a shot at the boss… could you imagine the first player beating the boss without letting anyone else get a hit in.
Bayle was the hardest fight in Shadow of the Erdtree for me. I absolutely melted Messmer first try, and the magic shield enchantment thing and mohg’s trident for radahn absolutely destroyed him relatively easily

Metaphors Refantazios final fight with Louise is a pain in the ass fight on the harder difficulties. I feel that’s a good honorable mention that is also in a different genre.
With Bael, if your playstyle is hiding behind a shield with a BHF while your mimic tear and igon constantly distract him to the point where his movements are insanely sporadic, then OF COURSE its going to be a nightmare to hit the head and do ANY kind of damage. Summoning help just makes fights far more difficult to land hits on them because they are vaulting across an entire arena to attack your summons, go figure!
Its Malenia, not Melania, Radahn, not Raddon
And Shen is leaps and bounds harder than Broken Shell, but far.

I actually liked the rancor fight in outlaws. For once you feel the actual scale of a creature boss fight. It feels how helpless and squishy you are compared to the scale of the rancor, which is what made it even more rewarding when you take it out. Although the fight itself could have more variety rather than just blowing cylinders over it's head.

Radahn has been beaten by a guy playing with only a Guitar Hero guitar as controller. He played the whole main story + dlc with that thing. Impressive. Abrahamsandwich here on TH-cam.

One of the hardest bosses EVER. If you mess up once she just destroy you. One single miss timing parry and she burns your HP and if you dodge too early she nuke you. She's sooo soooo hard!
I struggled more with her than any Souls,Sekiro,Nioh or any other "hard game". It took a solid amount of hours to beat her. My hands HURT after battle her

As a big FromSoftware fan, I often feel like I’ve experienced the best and most difficult boss fights out there and it’s pointless for other companies to even try. But 2024 surprised me. I enjoyed a lot of boss fights this year and I must admit the occasional gimmicky one does succeed at keeping me on my toes. There’s genuinely nothing like it in video games when you have a difficult boss with a steep learning curve, especially if it’s a character that pertains to the story in a big way. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next
Thr hardest boss that i faced so far has to be the Citadelle Des Morts boss fight. It starts out semi slow paced but after the first phase he starts to move faster and his attacks hits way harder and the then last phase he's on crack but doing the easter egg with competent allies helps.
I'm still only on chapter 4 but I feel that Yellowbrow (chapter 3's main boss) in Wukong was quite challenging. If anything, just because of his gold armour gimmick, and the fact that the options are quite limited as far as breaking it is concerned. Although I will concede that he's quite harmless once you figure that out
FYI, only 21% of players have defeated Erlang Shen and 26% have managed to defeat The Great Sage's Broken Shell so far. That's how hard those two bosses are. 😂

That fight was *MISERABLE.* And I'm used to tough fights in Shin Megami Tensei, but they made this dude such a pain in the ass!
Deflects ALL magical & physical damage, has the ability to give himself 8 press turns, can reset all debuffs placed on himself & negates all buffs on your party... Oh, and he puts AOE Hex & Poison status ailments on you.
What an unfun POS. I defeated him, but it wasn't exactly fun rebuilding my entire party, cooking up items & trying to figure out cheese strategies to get through.
I feel like bosses like that are designed like that on purpose just cause the devs think its funny to watch players suffer through what really is BS design
Hard difficulty is the only difficulty I've experienced in Stellar Blade and while Providence is indeed a hard fight, there's an alternate final boss fight that can be even more difficult. And an honorable mention goes to Raven.

Scorpion lord was pretty simple, just need the argyle bat that freezes and that cloak ability that charges your heavy attack and let lose

Im glad modern gaming bosses are easy compared to 8bit and 16bit bosses which were often made unbeatable

Scorpionlord is the only boss in black myth that made me take a few days to think about strategies and builds. I was steamrolling everybody until him. Only boss to take me a few Irish goodbyes before I screamed in victory when I finally beat him.
For a while there (the no tutorial era) some games were deliberately harder by design, because the blood-thirsty "masochists" among us were demanding it and designers were all in. As a long time gamer, I'm not ashamed to admit how many times I had to come back bruised to a boss fight because the achievements junkie in me would not be deprived. 😂
Haven't fought consort since they nerfed him but the best strat then was to use a spear with scarlet rot and hide behind a greatshield. It's cheesy but he was such a pain to deal with, never felt bad about it.

Radahn just made everyone cry and suffer.
I played 1 - 1.5hrs per day for like 20 days to defeat him. I tried many strat but finally i beat him by just parrying which was so easy. But took lot of time to learn parry. The moment i finished him they nerfed him with new patch 😂.
It was miserable. But for whatever reason, Messmer was like 3x harder to beat for me. Maybe cuz I tackled that fight with medium blessings. Im not sure. But it took me like 7-8 hours to beat Messmer.
