In a situation like that , witgout brick mold, I'll grab 4 drops out if the bin, and tack 2 diagonally across the corner to the sheathing and 2 down near the bottom of the opening to be sure and keep door flush with the sheathing while shimming and pinning it.

Do you have any other video showing how to install the frame / header in case you are changing the size of the door which requires make the opening bigger?
I purchased a very similar door and I want to install it, but I do not want to open the drywall around until I know for sure what materials / considerations I need to know before doing this.
    Thanks

Never caulk nail or screw holes as caulk shrinks and you will see holes after painting... use silocone under the threshold, not liquid nails.... If you do not have a good over hang above the door, set the door in a pan first... Do not shim the jambs from one side as this can twist the jambs, shim equally from both sides...

If I was you. I would put 2- 2x4 across the frame so you can free hands from outside. Then go inside put 4 blocks to hold the door in place. The adjust the Door without holding the door.

Great video, I have one question, my door that I ordered has the brick mold already installed, this is a replacement for existing door of same type. Do I remove the brick mold to shim like you did or shim from the inside? Thank You

Good day! How do I repair the striker plate jam on a door like this? Mine was attempted to be kicked in however, it held up. A chunk of wood was removed from the rear of the deadbolt striker plate and now I need to be able to repair/replace the jam, just not sure how and not interested in replacing the whole door if I don't need to. Thanks in advance!

You can name the entire videos by Project, and edit them to shorter videos for viewers who just want to see the how to. This way, you also increase the number of your videos to generate more revenue.

Thanks Josh for posting. Replacing my twin front doors with a single pre-hung with side lights. Opening is 68 5/8" x 83" and I believe with the 36" x 80" I need 63 1/4"x 83" for the opening, so there has to be some framing I guess. Since there is brick on top and sides, top actually has a 3x8" steel cross plate. Just hoping we don't run into any problems.

@@jessecruz9641 yes I’m sure it’s a standard size door measure it up and run to home depot . ….just make sure sure that the sidelights aren’t rotted or even showing signs of age (which I’m sure they are) or you’ll be having to replace in the future…..a double side light door will run you on the cheap and ugly side about 1100$ and they go all the way up to 5k 😳( I know I couldn’t believe it either) ….I went with a door that was about 1600$ and the pan and trim and all the other shit like caulk , said and done about 2k per door …I replaced two in my house ….I replaced one and then the other one we had stood out like a sore thumb …I just had to replace it …it was driving me nuts looking at it
