- $10, two hour bus journey from Vientiane, Laos, to Vang Vieng. And what awaits is the most beautiful place I've seen for a very long time.

Nice video mate, credit to you for getting around plenty of ex pats never move from a bar in Pattaya
Thanks, Colin
Nice content. You don't see many vlogs about Vang Vieng. Thanks for showcasing some more obscure towns.
I just found your channel surfing around because I'm planning and going to Cambodia sometime this year and staying there. On one of your video descriptions were you stated you'd rather be a foreigner over there than a foreigner in your home country and that's exactly how the United States is now. Anyway, I like the way you make your videos and I'll be watching more.
Thankyou
Looks like a good place to stroll around and greet the locals
This is you back to your best Eddie, sharing your best locations with your viewers, making us all even more determined to visit them ourselves.
If you retired in a beautiful and charming place like that I think everybody would understand and probably be jealous (it's idyllic for sure)!
This video is really well put together also. Great content, terrific scenery and even pleasant music.
Well done and thanks.
Looking forward to the next one 👍.
Thanks, mate. I appreciate that.
Shame about the narrative. If he didn't talk or say the same thing 6 times I'd be happy. "Look at these mountains" zzzzz
Great video Eddie. Regards the overheating Go Pro, I had a similar issue in South East Asia so I had to work out a solution. What you need to do mate is go and buy some balloons, the sausage shape ones, and pack one with ice. Wrap it around the Go Pro, and Bob's your uncle. When the ice melts too much, just pop into the nearest shop or bar that sells ice and do the same.
Your chest might get a bit wet mate, but as well as cooling the camera it keeps you cool too. Give it a go mate, you won't regret it. Cheers.
Like you Eddy I’m from a council flat in Liverpool and the views don’t always come with a spectacular view. But I could see north Wales from my bedroom window as a kid which has always stayed with me.. Great to see you enjoying life to the fullest.
Like your hat Larry Grayson 😅😅😅
my god the boats reminded me of the james bond movie in thailand " ur that british secrect agent ! god darn i knew it !" and that rickety bridge where he fliped the car over the river . great vid aswell ted !
Good day Ed. I cant see any resemblance to anything I,ve seen in the Alps myself but I will say that Vang Vien looks like it has its own fairly unique appearance. Just love those mountains. Glad you are/have enjoyed that town. Good to see a vid with no frustrated or annoyed Steady Eddy. Anyway, looking forward to the next vid. Cheers.🙂🙂🙂🙂
Very nice scenery ed.
Looks great enjoyed the scenery looking for to seeing more of this place
This is how we like your vlogs Eddie, superb with The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly style music, taking us on this journey together, great job mate 👍🙏🏻🙏🏻
Cheers, mate
Awsome Views Really Pretty Place. 🌄
hi Eddie, yes beautiful scenery.. in fact I rented a scooter and went out for a ride.. and found some of the poorest villages I have encountered in my travels in Asia.. very sobering... cheers 🍻
I did the inner tube trip a few years back, when I was your age almost exactly. The "rapids" are really just rippled water on the river. It is quite safe and a memorable experience - you should do it. It has a bad reputation from way before that - many Australians died. They were stoned out of their minds, doing crazy things on the ziplines, and often drowned in 3 or 4 feet of water. The Australian government demanded that the town clean things up, and now it is very, very tame...
Lovely town, amazing karst formation mountains. And I’m sure there are lovely temples and places with great food.
Thank you Eddy. I should see Laos when I come back. I didn’t go there last time.
Have safe and happy travels my friend. 🙏🏼 🙂 🌴 🌴 🌴
Love your content Eddie. Keep up the amazing videos
Thanks so much!
Your place in Devon was nicer than that, beautiful
Looks beautiful, greetings from englishman ❤❤❤
wow what fabolous scenery there eddy, look forward to seeing more of vang vieng in your vids .great shows lad
That limestone karat you see, was o ce a coral reef stretching from China to borneo, formed some 300 million years ago, you will see the sa.e reef today in khao sok Park, North of phuket. Fun fact, 60 million years ago, this region spun 180 degrees, so khao sok was in China, and China was in the south of Thailand 😅....enjoy your stay in a truly stunning part of the world.
Really beautiful country
Did you get tubing down the river Eddie. I visited this place in 2003 and you could rent a tractor tire & float down the river in the sunshine. The best part was every now and then on the river bank was a wooden hut that sold beer. You could float down the river in the sun with a cold beer. Think that's not allowed now as quite a few people would get too drunk & drowned.
Lovely place Eddy. A bit of déjà vu, almost stepping back 3 decades ago Northern Thailand. I like it, looking forward to seeing more. The High Planes Drifter-esque music score was appropriate for a visit to a frontier town.
Cool, thanks
glad to see you found some razors !!
Vang Vieng is beautiful. The bridge wasn’t there when I visited November. Great video.
Great background music pal and looks very appealing for my next trip ❤
I visited Vangvieng 1.5 years ago. Beautiful little town. I rented a pushbike and ride around the countryside. Just breathtaking
I never been to that town! Just binged it on my list Eddy! Thanks
I am back to Phnom Penh again Saturday and shooting over to see my mates new house in jomtien for a week than back to PP and ,yes, take my pug to Kep for a week of beach time lol. Keep up the good work mate. Great video again ❤
Gob smacked with how stunning it is! Was there 10 yrs ago , but seeing your video still stands the hairs up on my back drooling at it's Beauty which is 20x better when ur there. Enjoy your adventure Eddy ur living the dream of many that won't ever leave their rut they're stuck in back in UK
Lovely place. I was there 30 years ago, brought back good memories for me

Great spot for retirement. Like the music . class 😊
Lovely views Eddie 👍👌😁
With that music I was expecting Clint Eastwood to be waiting gor you! Great video
Looks amazing there Eddy, We'll definitely have to go visit there myself when I get traveling again cheers, enjoy your day. 😊
Thanks, Martin
👍👍👍on video, I heard that if you hook a external battery pack to your gopro it doesn't overheat
That's the best vid so far, subscribed. Reminds me of Pah khao, just down from loi in North Thailand. Volcanic landscape, probably full of caves worth looking at. Beautiful little town, traditional . ✨️
Awesome, thank you!
Great video this one. Lovely place.
Thanks Eddie for lovely video, Enjoy your time in Laos 😊
Thank you, I will
Do like your information about what your doing very helpful
Thankyou
Yeah had the same issue with the GoPro even used the housing with holes so you can attach cables to the camera but mainly just to get some air flow hoping it would cool it down. But it still had problems only just a little bit less often maybe it is the heat in Asia.
Can recommend the new train Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang takes 2hr16mins £17 including taxi to the station! Also it’s best to book ahead as it’s a very popular journey! It takes a minimum of 6hrs by minivan, or 8hrs by bus, as it’s 114miles on mountainous roads! Don’t you use google maps Eddie, I would be lost without it, download the area and it works even without WiFi
Thanks for your info
Hi Eddie A nice short trip but I loved the music with the trip. It reminded me of the Sparghai wsterns with Clint Eastwood
Cool, thanks
Yea I was thinking that looks like the old west
ED great view have beer and chill
I was there last year the view is so much better in person.
Can just imagine Eddy riding off the mountain on his donkey with that spaghetti western rhythm playing
Sorry I can't get really excited about mountains, having been brought up in Wales. Minutes away from mountains, lakes and rivers, and being a keen rambler. But hey I am fortunate. Great video again Eddy your camera skills are exceptional and your music choices are always well matched. Enjoyable video let's see more of your commentary on a baguette and chippy's for lunch. Highly entertaining 😊👏👏🙏🏴🇬🇧
Thankyou
LMFAO! The fly at the end! 😂😂😂
There's a quite new train service from Lao to SW China where the mountain scenary is stunning
get a ride down the river in one of those skinny boats Eddy
Does Google maps work there, to find the hotels?
Looks great Eddie enjoy cheers 🍻
Hi ed when you get back to Thailand try Nakon, phanom I think you will love it on the Mekong river I live in,that provence with my school teacher thai wife I'm from UK a yorkie just a thought ed ok
Thanks for the info
Spectacular views, Ed 👍
Went there in 2010 vang vieng in the ring was the thing to do floating down the river in a rubber ring stopping off at various bars then onwards to Luang Prabang nice country overall cheap too
great video , i can ell you love it so do i , so from a retirement point of view how does loas compare to thailand price wise
I don't know about retirement here.
Great vid as usual, Ed!
Thanks, Brian
Absolutely stunning 😍
Lovely video.
Thank you very much!
Lovely Stuff my friend.👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Wonderful place Eddy😊
Love the Spaghetti western music, we are heading back to Laos next week.
Have fun!
@@STEADY599 You too Ed
Great video 👍👍👍👍
wonderful place, been there in January, done the hot balloon ride.
Brilliant, thanks Eddy.
Very welcome
Love the Wild West music Eddy. 👍
Cheers, mate
Looks a nice spot
Amazing view that Eduardo
Fabulous 👍
Looks nice Eddie but as I’ve said many times your travelling way to heavy. You probably don’t need half of that luggage.
Good to see you really enjoying your travels Ed lad. Almost feels like we're going along for the ride too. Lovely quaint town. Laos looks good overall. Quite like that guitar tune, reminds me of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly!!
I like Spaghetti Westerns
Did you have to pay extra for the fly on the baguette Eddy, or was that included in the price 😆
Fly was free
I heard Luan Prabang in Laos is so beautiful, go check
I have the Go Pro 10 and 11 but still shit at night. Great for daytine because of the wide angle and yeah, even the later versions overheat often. I'm now using a Sony SLR camera but its chunky, expensive and difficult for piece to canera vlogging but the results are superb.
I think my GoPro has had it's day. Smartphones seem to be the most convenient way these days. Good to hear from you, Nick.
you’ve found your happy place, Eddy!
No naughty nightlife, fails to get the little Eddie seal of a approval
Plenty of local girls and bars if you have any game at all.
Even the banana trail girls are looking for a night to remember
Game, u mean connect four before u pay for play surely
Looks a beautiful town . What was name of your hotel Eddie?
Hotel review coming
Great little video eddie
I read that as great little eddie video 😂
Great Video. You have to go tubing. Its actually quite relaxing. Many years ago it got a bad reputation because of drunken young people hurting themselves on the zip lines.
Its also great to rent a bike and visit the caves.Etc.
Not for me
I loved Vang Vieng. Only stayed 3 days. I should have stayed at least a week.
Amazing it's not all about the ladies. You have and can do that anytime you like in Thailand. It's nice to do and see something different. Enjoy your retirement 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yes, thank you
You should do a video commenting on your stay thus far in asia and what you miss about England, if anything.
I think I have done a video like that
Beautiful place Eddie.
Reminds a little of the kyrenia mountains in Cyprus before the Turks invaded in 1974.
Yes, some beautiful scenery in that part of the world, also
What is the situation with the crop burning now? The web sites I check show that both Pattaya and Phnom Penh are pretty bad with the PM2.5. When I was there last year the crop burning didn't get bad until May. Thanks
Doesn't seem too bad here
@@STEADY599Nobody heard or quoted PM 2.5 until recent years. It means participles in the air below 2.5 micrometers in diameter. The WHO dropped the guideline level from 10 to 5 micrograms per cu.m & NO2 from 40 to 10 micrograms per cu.m in 2021. So seems like once places reach guideline levels they lower the guideline (& of course this has nothing to do with a climate change & net zero agenda). I am not a pollution denier it’s just when it comes to living or visiting places I prefer to follow my own guidelines instead of the WHO & if I can’t see air pollution or feel any effects then that is good enough for me & others can judge for themselves. A contributor to PM2.5 pollution is vehicle tyre & break pad wear & electric cars being heavier than IC engine vehicles produce more PM pollution than IC engine vehicles do so maybe they should ban EV’s from Cities. I also don’t deny CO2 pollution I just have a hard time understanding the logic of shutting down factories in the West & then importing the the goods they used to make from places like China where they made in Factories powered by coal fired power stations & then put on fuel guzzling ships & shipped half way round the world to us. Same with plastic. I don’t see the logic of being able to buy stuff that comes in plastic bottles & packaging & be able to buy plastic bin liners but at check out I can’t get a plastic carrier bag.
Love the spaghetti western background music 👍 NO Copyright, I guess ! 😂😂😂😂
Eddie Eastwoods arriving in town.
@@snitchy87 I do hope that Ed is accompanied by a "Fistful of Dollars" for his trip ! 😂😂😂😂
Wow Eddy you are in heaven !
v.v. is an okay getaway for 1-2 nights, nothing more. 2 nights in luang prabang is fine. i lived in vientiane for 3+ months near the mekong and became happily used to its slower pace. the big drawback is the government’s anti fraternization law. the bottom line for a guy is visit laos but stay elsewhere, unless you can make a serious friendship with a nice lao lady.
Nice views 👍
Very nice.
I think the go pro might be ok in UK but its just too hot for it in Laos/Thailand
The right hotel this time i hope.🎉🎉Eddy
stunning
Certainly beats a "Council House in Liverpool" !! 😂😂😂😂
spaghetti western you gotta love the vibes, baguette with chips mmmmm bloody good!
They have bee-yaah?
How's the suitcase my friend? 🇹🇭😂
