Fixing a Mossberg 500 safety that is too stiff to slide

- Apparently this is a common problem, but my Mossberg 500 shotgun's safety button was so hard to slide I couldn't use it - not acceptable. Searching online, it's a simple solution, just loosen the screw that holds the safety button on, except that it's a non-removable screw. I found a very easy workaround to keep this otherwise great shotgun safe and useable. Now I can easily engage or disengage the safety quickly, even with gloves on. www.ewardwinni...
CAUTION - before you start this, open your action and engage the safety. If you happen to fully remove the screw, the safety itself can drop down inside the gun if you don't do this step. Having it engaged and the action open will hold that part in place if you fully remove the screw. Don't ask me how I know this...
Thank you this helped so much. Based on this safety this is an unreliable gun. I have one that probably has 50 shots gone through and safety is not operable.
On my shockwave loosening the screw wasn't enough to fix the problem. I had to snip off a small section of the spring that is under the ball bearing (found this in another video) to remove some of the tension on the safety.
THE SLIDE NEEDS TO BE ALL THE WAY BACK OR THE SAFETY BLOCK WILL FALL INTO THE GUN. NOT HALF COCKED. FULLY OPEN.
Absolutely correct. Don't ask how I know that...
Thank you! You are a life saver.
The one thing i have always hated about mossberg is their safety and its location. They couldnt just do like the majority and put it on the trigger guard.
they do have a budget model with a crossbolt safety in front of the trigger, the Maverick 88
My Mossberg shockwave is doing the same thing but only when I screw in my raptor grip and when I take it off it works fine weird I'm thinking the screw is pushing against the safety somehow
