Well of course you do they are now approaching their thirties. A footballer will depreciate the older they get that doesn't mean they weren't good value.
I think you're confusing contract length and amortization length, contact length in basically unlimited but amortization length was shortened because of Chelsea to I think 5 years, so I player can have a 9 year contract but you're still only allowed to amortize it over 5 years, meaning pay a portion each year over 5 years which reduces your yearly cost for PSRs rolling 3 year cycle
Great pod boys as always! Just one thing: Amortisation of contracts is only allowed for a maximum of up to 5 years now, so the example you gave of Cole Palmer's deal to City could only be extended to a maximum of 5 years, ie 8mill a year to City. Also, him extending his contract wouldn't reduce the amount they would pay to City each year, which is what it sounded like there 😂 Toon for top 4, you know what you're talking about Goldbridge!

Ipswich is going to be a joy to see what they bring and all the other fun stories. Can't wait and congrats to City again for 5 in a row!
As a Chelsea fan, I’m more than happy to accept criticism on how the club is run in certain aspects. For example, the Gallagher situation has been handled terribly. However, the lack of research on contracts is pretty annoying. They’re signed on long deals for amortisation purposes. Also, bonuses are implemented in the contracts based on performances. Palmer was already on a long contract but received a pay increase and signed an additional 2 years. They’ve introduced this format to remove the previous regime of paying players on incredibly high wages. I.e., Lukaku on 325k a week
@@takethecannoli999is not as bad as it sounds because the player wages are pretty low, most are around 100k pw and it’s heavily performance incentivised
You can only spread transfer fees across 5 years now, the rule Chelsea previously exploited has been banned now. So, the 9 year contract isn’t related to spreading the transfer fee.
What I don’t understand about the length of the Chelsea contracts is why no other club is doing it? Like you say, Newcastle have the richest owners and they aren’t doing the same. I don’t believe that Chelsea are the only club to find this loophole. The whole ownership at Stamford Bridge seems chaotic
20:32 Last I checked, the rules changed to stipulate no matter how long the contract, the amortisation limit for a player fee is only 5yrs so Palmer getting 9yrs has nothing to do with PSR...definitely agree they're stockpiling 😂😂
22:18 This is why you people just need to stop talking about Chelsea. You have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about. The players Chelsea are signing are on very low wages. The average salary at Chelsea is currently £60k/week. So no Mark, we won’t be like United because we don’t dish out £250k/week to Harry Maguire
I mean it's easy to bring the average down when you make a squad of like 45 players - the average wage is close to 80/90k and the overall wage which is more important is 3.5m second highest in the league when the team is by no means the second best in the league - I don't think the wage bill is Chelsea's biggest concern but you can skew things a bit depending on your bias. Man Utd are a joke when it comes to wages though, agree with you on that.
I don' think there is any doubt the players you're signing are talented and not on huge wages, yes the fees are quite high for what are essentially development projects but that's the philosophy the club is going for. My only worry is how the players are developed and managed - hard to develop young players when the first team is a bit all over the place and management changes quite frequently. If they get put out on good loan moves or get given decent game time then they could definitely develop them into top players, you have to think of say 10 wonderkid signings, 2 or 3 should turn out as first teamers and the others can make a bit of money perhaps. It's risky when you don't have the basics in place though is my only concern but Chelsea have always had a similar policy just maybe a bit more low key and focused around the under19s/21s.

Just so you fellows know that in american football some players have in their contract a non-trade clause where the player can refuse a trade to team he does not want to play for. they also have a list of teams that they would like to be traded or transfer to. Not a lot of players have this but the ones that do can control where they go. By the way great show my top 4: Liverpool, Arsenal, Mancity, Newcastle bottom 3: Notts Forest, Southampton, Everton darkhorse: Brentford Also Wrexham will get automatic promotion!!!
The players feelings bit was a bit over the top, they are paid ridiculously well I think they can take a bit of stress that they can't train with their mates while business is being done, the american transfer comparison is also fairly wide of the mark a lot of those players have built in no trade clauses etc and ways around it
villa fan happy with any position that gives Europe. which could be up to 8th. A nice run in UCL or a cup run. All good. just wana keep European football going. Be nice to win conference or Europa in the next year or two. Happy with any of it. But would be good to put our foot down and finish 4th again. We also handled Europe well alst season, so the extra games dont worry me, but what does is, we need to put a fully strong team out in champions league, and either side of those games i think we play a lot of the top teams in the prem, so will need our best players playing those games too. Where as with the conference league, we could field slightly changed up teams in the earlier rounds.
Mark has spent years telling us he doesn't watch the Bundesliga/Serie A/Ligue 1 ect but when they sign someone like De Ligt or Yoro he knows all about their game and pundits don't have a clue... 😂
17:42 Only correct answer is Marcus Rashford. If he doesn’t produce 20+ goal contributions, we’ll be out of top 4. This is only because we know he will get to play week in week out. If he were to actually be benched, my opinion would change.

I think it’s dumb to say that United will finish top four, I can understand them saying teams Tottenham and Newcastle, but completely ignoring Villa is dumb. United has like 5 important players that are injured before the season has even started
@@NoobMaster-zw4oqFirstly, Maguire isn’t injured and secondly the only ‘important player’ that’s injured is Shaw and he’s always injured so that’s not a huge issue. Mazraoui has just been brought in who can play there so the injuries really aren’t an issue
@@jamesbarker5193 🤷♂️ United would still be lucky to finish top 6. They’re poorly managed and don’t really work well as a team. They had as many memes as they did wins. Defense is pretty sloppy too.
"We all picked Man U top 4 last year. They finished 8th. This years top 4, well of course Man U." lol
It’s almost like they had a PL record number of injuries last season…
@@jamesbarker5193 they play shit football, end of
@@bandito6782 thanks for that great insight mate, you should be a pundit
@@jamesbarker5193well he's right United have been irrelevant for 11 years. Top 4 no chance
@@jamesbarker5193how ya feeling now about this? It's almost like the teams shit no matter what and it was delusional to think they'd get top 4
De Ligt at the end of the season was the 4 choise for centre back in Bayern. Check the facts Mark.
That’s not true at all. He played plenty at the end of the season, he just missed a few games because of a minor injury
The back in rule is terrible btw, just gives a disadvanatage to the person that answers last
Ok , maybe we’ll go back to normal next week mate
bring back weekly predictions and dont give up right before the end of the season
Comments do love it
Charlie Taylor. Young English player. Geezer's about 45.
1. City

4. Tottenham
5. Newcastle
6. Liverpool
7. Man Utd
8. West Ham
9. Palace
10. Brighton
defo keep the back in for the quiz
Seems to be splitting opinion
Black socks and blue jeans makes this intolerable
The players feelings bit was a bit over the top, they are paid ridiculously well I think they can take a bit of stress that they can't train with their mates while business is being done, the american transfer comparison is also fairly wide of the mark a lot of those players have built in no trade clauses etc and ways around it
Can anyone provide their predictions? Cant watch hour of this.
villa fan happy with any position that gives Europe. which could be up to 8th.
By week 10 Liverpool will be 5 points ahead at the top.
Mark has spent years telling us he doesn't watch the Bundesliga/Serie A/Ligue 1 ect but when they sign someone like De Ligt or Yoro he knows all about their game and pundits don't have a clue... 😂
Never seen the guy on the far left before but he’s brilliant speaks lots of sense
Robbo!! What a legend!!! Played over 800 matches

Only correct answer is Marcus Rashford. If he doesn’t produce 20+ goal contributions, we’ll be out of top 4. This is only because we know he will get to play week in week out. If he were to actually be benched, my opinion would change.
1:07:10. They honestly don’t lessons do they. “ What former premier league club started this championship season with a -2 points deduction “ when it’s only going to be out of 3 clubs who relegated last season. 😭😭😭
I think Liverpool will do great this season. Super excited to see how Slot Ball does in the Champions League. Could be rough lol. Could be great.
elite ball knowledge by the master of all ben fosass with garnacho playing good in Copa america bro he didnt even play
he is back
May be a crazy shout but my dark horses are Everton and forest I really think both will get going and could finish mid table they both have the squads and the managers people may wobble abit with Nuno but he has experience and a very good squad with some more additions sosa etc on the way also I think Everton have the squad anyway I personally like Sean dyche as a manager aswell
where did Jamie went
Top 4
1. Man city
2. Liverpool
3. Arsenal
4. Chelsea
I think it’s dumb to say that United will finish top four, I can understand them saying teams Tottenham and Newcastle, but completely ignoring Villa is dumb. United has like 5 important players that are injured before the season has even started
are the 5 important injured players in the room with you?
@@pocketmaces6150 lenny yoro, Luke shaw, Lindelof, and Maguire, so 4 actually. Plus they lost amrabat and varane
It’s dumb to say they’ll finish top 4 when there are teams like Tottenham, Villa, Newcastle, and a couple others who all have a more realistic shot at top 4
@@NoobMaster-zw4oq I disagree with you but I guess that’s the beauty of football, everyone will have a different opinion. United were just extremely unlucky with injuries last season and with new additions and new coaching staff I believe they’ll look like a much better functioning team.
Where are united’s goals coming from to be above Liverpool Tottenham Chelsea or even Newcastle and Villa?
Caaaaam on fozzy
Ipswich staying up Kalvin Phillips is a massive signing!!!
Dude, Chelsea offered Gallagher a extension for like 2 years and he turned it down proposals with best clubs salary and he is on the last year of his contract as well so getting money out of it is sensible
What’s funny is that the clip of kompany shouting in the Anderlecht changing room was at manu Utd new singling zirkzee
Don't think Ashworth was good at nufc, was at Brighton, so who knows what will happen
