- Regional variant Pokemon is one of the most popular Pokemon features of all time, and in generation 8, the unthinkable happened when we got regional variants of Legendary Pokemon in the Sword and Shield Crown Tundra expansion. But what if EVERY Legendary had a regional variant? In this video, we are going to continue exploring this idea, by giving regional variants of my own to multiple Legendary Pokemon! I hope you enjoy!

@@CoralReaper707 Maybe Hoopa brings another Arceus from another universe, one where it’s actually evil and creates an evil creation trio. (And no I don’t think Giratina is inherently evil, it literally saved the universe from Cyrus)
Since the variants of legendaries tend to have their dynamics changed slightly, what if this version of Kyogre and Groudon were neutral towards each other but Rayquaza likes to instigate fights between them?

I love how the types of the regional Groudon and Kyogre correspond to the Sandstorm and Hail/Snow weather, which they would presumably have with their abilities instead of Sun and Rain.
Then Metal Rayquaza could have a unique metal terrain ?

Imagine Primal versions of these variants of Groundon and Kyogre while the variant of Rayquaza gets a mega evolution. It would be quite insane to see.
Or more like a opposite, the variants of ground on and Kyogre can get their own mega evolution while the variant of rayquaza gets a primal form
In that case groundon variant Is either stays rock type or becomes rock grass
Considering Primal Groudon was fire/ground but was effectively immune to water, maybe Primal Ice Kyogre could be ice/flying, but have an ability that makes it effectively immune to rock.

How is there a list of the weather trio and more of a terrain trio.
It might not have been on purpose but the typings for Groudon and Kyogre also fit really well since they both represent the other 2 weather conditions, i.e. sandstorm and hail.
I guess that means that their abilities would be sand stream and snow warning respectively
I like the idea of a Grass type Groudon, maybe in a region where the volcanoes have long been dormant; Groudon has become a more passive creature and defender of land pokemon.

Now that I think about it, it makes sense for Legendaries to get regional variants. Myths and Legends are very different around the world. For example, there are many different versions of Greek Mythology.
Also, these two appear to be Barons or Nobles compared to the Monarchs that are Canon Groudon and Kyogre
These regional forms for the legendary weather trio could possibly be different pokemon entirely. These pokemon tried to mimic the original weather trio to avoid getting attacked by other, stronger pokemon as known in the animal kingdom, where the weak animals, to avoid getting killed, change their appearance due to evolution
I like how these regional variants of the weather trio's typing is also a nod to the regi trio
I think that a fun alternative way that a Steel-type rayquaza could've been handled is that it's a man-made replica, made to try and quell the regional Groudon and Kyogre.
If you do make regional variants of the Creation Trio, I’ve got an idea: Dialga can be Dragon/Rock as it signifies the different time eras that you would see in rock layers, Palkia can be Dragon/Psychic since the Psychic type is most often given to space-themed Pokémon, and Giratina can be Dragon/Dark, fully embracing its embodiment of the Renegade Pokémon

Instead of the Drought ability, Rock-type Groundon can have the ability Sand Stream to create a sandstorm. Instead of the Drizzle ability, Ice-type Kyogre can have the ability Snow Warning to create a snowstorm.

I think all of the Weather Trio regional variants are well designed especially with Groundon representing the surface level of the land with its rock type, Kyorge representing the artic sease with its Ice type and Raquaza repreaenting the celestial steel of the sky.

I like the idea that these variants are from Alternative universe or something, because it's hard for me to imagine how they could fit in alongside the normal ones.
Also i think it would be cool to see Genesect and Hoopa getting Regional Forms.
Personally, I would have kept the dragon typing and gotten rid of the flying typing, thus changing the type interactions. As it stands, both RVs (Regional Variants) are doing neutral damage to Rayquaza, whereas the originals of Groudon and Kyogre did no damage and resisted damage respectively. Keeping the dragon typing offers a slew of different resistances and still keeps the trio balanced.
I dont know if it was purposeful but kinda dope that they ended up having the same types as the other trio in Hoenn- the regis!
I find it odd to imagine a 'regional' Rayquaza, as space and the atmosphere is rather beyond any 'region'
I love the color choices for these variants, the original trio has very vibrant colors which makes them look aggressive but these guys are more muted, a lot less striking, it gives the impression that despite maintaining their hostility, they are overall calmer than the originals.
This is also supported by Groudon and Kyogre's new types, which correspond to Sandstorm and Snow, two weather effects that are focused on defense, rather than offense like Sun and Rain.
I love the variants especially the groudon one! Kyogre is super creative and I like the type advantage swap!
I love the Ice type regional form for Kyogre it looks so fierce and modern 😍❄
The trio shares the same types as the original regi trio (with the exception of rayquaza's flying type)
I really like these. Lately, I have been thinking that the weather trio is a bit underseigned, especially the two bickering toddlers.

The new Groudon's appearance is interesting. It looks kind of like a mech suit to me, but, of course, with it being Rock-Type, it's obviously not. I like it.
When I was thinking about a regional variant, an idea that I came up with but I can't very well actually visualize currently is a flowery Groudon, with how plants are just as important as soil or rock, but that possibly might still be going away from Groudon's original concept.
The regional Kyogre also looks pretty *cool.*
I suppose another regional Kyogre could possibly be, itself, Rock, though. It may sound very strange, but what I'm thinking about is one based more on the moon, which is what controls the tides with its gravitational pull, and the coldness of space being very likely to freeze water just as our side of the Earth is further away from the Sun during winter. Otherwise, though, I can't really think of anything anything else that would really be connected to ice and water.
Rayquaza's inspiration as Steel-Flying just doesn't really make so much sense to me, though, although it does look good on its own. I get it from the game design perspective, but outside of that with its inspiration, not really. The unknown space metal thing just seemed more like an afterthought reason for it to be this way than an actual initial inspiration Then again, though, there isn't really anything else that I can think of that can be done to make a regional Rayquaza.
Maybe dark dragon, or Dark Steel or maybe Dark Fairy since Skeletrain said that it could like to instigate fights between the others (who are usually neutral to each other) instead
The regional Groudon looks like a future Paradox Pokemon to me.

I like this because how our original boys (sorry just realised their generous less ) Rock type will produce sandstorm , ice type will produce hail and due to requaze being Steel type he is immune to both effects so we can give him a ability like as one composing of your idea like with flash fire and (my take ) also volte abzorb

You know when I first saw Rayquaza's Steel variant my thought was you were going with a sorta weather satellite design as a kind of 'modern' take on the lord of the sky part. Maybe that would be a different idea if you ever do a future paradox version of Rayquaza, making it a weird psuedo dragon-satellite.
How would their Primal forms look, as well as Mega Rayquaza?

2. i feel like these 3 aren;t the ones to give Regional forms since they are so specific tot hat role, i mean Rayqyaze flies all across the globe, so he is in ALL regions technically, a better bunch i would have went for would have been either the Lati twins or even a different regions trio like the swords of justice
An ice type Groudon, molded from living eons on top of the highest snowy mountains, and a rock type Kyogre, either from being buried alive in a desert or from being trapped inside an ancient underwater cave that dried out, would have made things a little less predictable, but probably not as popular.
Really like the concept for regional Rayquaza that you came up with. My mind was going down the "Psychic/Dragon" route since psychic would be able to "control" both Groudon and Kyogre (manipulate mental states to calm them, put them to sleep, or simply force them apart with psychokinesis) but it would also still be able to fly since many psychic types can use their psychic powers to help them fly (Mew/Mewtwo/Ultra Necrozma/Alakazam/etc.). Plus the whole idea that Psychic Types have some connection with Space (again: Mew/Necrozma/Solgaleo/Lunala/Beheeyem & Elgyem/ moves like "Cosmic Power"/etc.). Just my take on it too.

I really like all three regional variants of the weather trio, especially Groudon’s because it makes him look like a Minecraft monster!!
Another option for Kyogre could be a Dark/Water type. With Groudon moving from the core of the earth (deep down) to the surface, a Dark typed Kyogre could symbolise the very depths of the ocean. Kyogre would still have the type advantage and Rayquaza would have to turn into a Fighting/Flying type, but that would be pretty awesome IMO

Regional Groudon I like a lot. Especially with the Blocky features it has. Reminds me a lot of Garganacl. Maybe the regional groudon knows salt cure
i really like how the variant groundon has a pickaxe tail, which actually can be used to break the ice that the variant kyogre would make, making their rivalry more obvious.
Though.... can't help but note how Kyogre is weak to both Groudon and Rayquaza here.. but then again, with the regular trio, Groudon is weak to Kyogre while Rayquaza is immune to ground, so I guess it balances out.
Steel typing is a cool option otherwise I was expecting fighting and imagined it just coming down and punching the jeebus out of Groudon and Kyogre haha.

New ability for the regional Rayquaza:
Extraterrestrial Plating
The ability user is immune to all status conditions, status moves and indirect damage. Super-effective moves against this Pokémon only deal 1.75x damage; 3.25x if quad-effective

Perhaps the regional Groudon could have an ability that summons a special type of Sandstorm that neutralizes all of Rock’s many weaknesses. Same with regional variant Kyogre’s specialized Hail (or Snow in Gen IX) for Ice-types. As for the Rayquaza variant, it would probably have this ability “Cosmic Winds” which enhances the power of all Steel, Flying, and Psychic moves by 50% boost.
Can we agree the weather trio is arguably the best designed set of Pokémon?

Sorry but for balancing stuff rayquaza could never have an ability that makes it somewhat inmune to fire.
Weaknesses of flying = rock ice electric, all resisted by steel
Weaknesses of steel = fire ground fighting, inmune to ground by flying and resisting fighting by flying
Only weakness = fire
Inmune to fire = legendary with no weaknesses and sorry but the place for the pokemon with 0 weaknesses has already been taken by Mr Eelektross
This groudon form is so amazing i absolutely love it i think i might even like it more than the original. Also this looks more like a paradox form of rayquaza i would make it take more of a space look where the bulky sphere portions of its body were asteroids rich in space metals and the tube like parts of its body were black and almost see through with star like things floating in them, it could be steel/psychic or steel/fairy type
Also they can kinda represent ice age Stone Age and industrial age almost😳
Rayquaza could have two formes Ascending and Decending for when it goes into space and when it is returning. Steel/Ice for Ascending with a Fire immunity and Steel/Fire with a Ground immunity. OP? Yes. But Ray is always OP
This regional Rayquaza would be absolutely busted.
Flying/Steal compared to Flying/Dragon:
-gains an immunity to poison
-loses it's only 4x weakness
-only has 2 weaknesses overall rather than 4
-gains 2 more resistances
-gains an additional 4x resistance to bug
This typing with an ability which neutralizes fire weakness leaves this pokemon with a single electric weakness. Oh, and it's a regional variant meaning it keeps the same base stat total of 680.
Now I wanna see them in primal form
The regional Groudon has a very Mesamerican look to its design, and the regional Kyogre seems like it comes out of the mythos of various Pacific Northwest or Subarctic Native American tribes.
The problem with making the weather trio is that it would implicitly limit their power. The existence of regional variants means that by default they aren't one of a kind. So saying there are multiple Groudon would debunk the idea of it being a being that rules over/represents/makes the Earth's land
Out of curiosity, have you seen the new fakemon theme that's coming out lately, called an Evo Swap?
an ability that would make a Steel Type lose its weakness to Fire, by either reducing damage from that type by the same amount as its weakness to it to make the type Neutral, or if we wanted even more broke reduce damage enough for it to be Resisted, i think a cool name for such a type would be Tempered.
I wouldn't say land water and sky is weather, but foundashion of the world.

Legendries 'variants' beyond things like the birds or regis, it makes sense many forms of these could exist. In my eyes make the most sense as like 'ancient versions' or versions from other Universes or planets even. Like Groundon and Kyogre could have an alien version from another world for instance.
I feel like Rational Rayquaza would be dual typed, maybe Dark-Steel, dark representing the spacy metals making up it's body
It would be cool if this version of Rayquaza was an antagonistic force and this Groudon and Kyogre have to work together to seal it away!

I thought that it would be hard and even impossible to give Regional variants to Legendaries. Then I remember that the Pokedex Entries questioned that the Galar Legendary Birds that they are just referred as those names because how similar they are that gives the idea that they are indeed the Birds.

The Rayquaza and Kyogre forms are amazing! I'm not too big a fan of the Groudon though.
One thing that I thought of in regards to the relationship between this Kyogre and Groudon was real life climate change, as in the cycles between Ice Ages. This dynamic, the constant cycling of glacial proceeding and receding, is what really excited me about these variants
Back in X7Y there where this 3 energy factories outside of lumiose city, one for heat energy, hridaulic energy and wind energy. At the time many people speculated that those would be additional content to capture the weather trio, of course this want's necessary after the release of OR/AS.
I can see this variants as the result of the pokemon after so much explotation, Groundon becoming rock type so he no longers emantes heat, Kyogre becoming ice type to stop the flow of water, hence, no more energy, and yeah fr rayquza somethign could be figured out, they kept the flying type so i don't think the exact same logic could apply
The rayquaza would be more or less neutral since flying is weak to ice and rock, oh and the groudon can summon sandstorm, and kyoger summons hail.

Not feeling the colors of Groudon, feels more like just a mecha suit or something too urban rather than primal. Love the Rayquaza and Kyogre though.

Excellent variants, but I think the concept of regional variants better applies to Pokémon we know exist in multiples and aren't god-tier. You could check out Latias and Latios, the Regis and Heatran
I think this works really well. I think they’d have sand stream/snow warning, and Groudons physical moves would be softened by the defense boost from Kyogre’s snow. Same for groudon, kyogres moves would be softened by the sand stream special defense boost.
Rayquaza eats meteors for breakfast. So it makes sense to give him steel type.
