  • I have synesthesia, more specifically chromesthesia, which means I hear colors in music. In this video I share some brief information about what it's like!

I've never met anyone else who has synesthesia. For as long as I can remember, I've seen colors with both music and numbers. I just do. (I'm not a musician, just an appreciative listener.) I've been told that this ability is associated with high intelligence, though I have no idea if that's verifiable. For me, there's not a 1:1 association between a specific note and a color. Notes in the high ranges read as pale pink to me, and extremely low notes are dark brown. Colors in the middle range tend to alternate between red and blue. The color-note association is more triggered by complex instrumental music (like a piano concerto) than by pop/rock music. For numbers, the color association mostly pops up when I'm playing Sudoku.
