It feels very worth pointing out that in any one run, for every coin that spawns, the chance for the next one to drop is halved. This means coin drops become rarer and rarer at an exponential rate, which heavily weakens literally any form of farming you might try to do. The starting chance is 0.5% per kill, so on average you must kill only 200 enemies to get one. The next would need roughly 400 more, so would come around 600 kills. The 3rd coin at around 1400, then 3000, etc. So whilst your first few coins are easy enough to get, to reach even only 10 coins requires aprox 204,600 kills. To reach 20 coins you're looking at hundreds of millions of kills. Meaning that even with the fastest AFK farming methods, you're unlikely to ever see much more than a dozen coins.

Pro tip, try to do this against a wall and stand where the doll drops, that way if u have that gold treasure item u will instantly pick it all up and not lag ur game too hard

Just tried this. Had 2 gestures of the drowned, 18 fuel cells, and 5 clovers. I was afk for hours and didn't receive any lunar coins. I tried it in every place I could imagine. Any ideas why this happened?
@@gravysamich In 1.0 it's faster and safer to rush Mithrix for than it is to obliterate, and gets you slightly more coins (9 if you got the beads from a pod vs 10 for just bopping mithrix). And it still holds true for the anniversary update since you can skip the pillars on the new moon, so it isn't much slower than before, if at all.
Can try using the twisted scavengers loop mod. Grab 3 of the lunar item that reduce teleporter charge time, beads of fealty and command artifact and hop into drizzle game. Rush teleporter past second loop to quicken the farming. After the first 8 levels , every loop onwards spawns a celestial portal and you should be able to quickly beat the scavenger and get 10 coins and still continue the run. My average was about 12 min per loop after the third fight because of how I’m just speeding to the teleporter, watch as everything dies instantly, loot a bit for more items every stage. That’s 10coins/12min. Downside is it’s gonna be really boring past the 5th loop-ish because you’re just optimising time and same few items.
I have a suggestion that’s too much work, but since you’re practically a Ror2 TH-camr I think it’d be neat if your profile pic is blue gold (lunar coins) instead of regular gold. It’s just a small suggestion that really is too much work imo
There is a better way to get lunar coins, imo. Step 1: Turn on Command AND swarms. Step 2: Visit the artifact of sacrifice via the gate. Step 3: Get enough items to make god voodoo. (Whisps increases damage and range, Broaches, Fungus) Step 4: Complete it, which removes sacrifice from you. Step 5: Find a Lunar shop - Get the lunar item you need - visit the Void. Step 6: Start the cells but do not grind on the last one, due to the red item being potentially Dio's. The doll will generate coins, kill the enemies, and if you're an Engi your turrets will help. If you get items like Ceremonial Daggers it will make it even easier.
You probably don't need to complete most of the void fields if you get pretty common enemies (like lemurians and beetles) in the first few cells. Otherwise, this seems like a solid strategy that I'll probably try out soon.

My guess is that exp & gold depend on the monster type and level, so they are tied to the actual monster entity, but since every monster has the same chance of dropping Lunar coins that acts like a passive ability on the player.
I looked this up because my multi run to get coins was killed instantly. Such bullshit super pissed. I literally had over 133 barriers Fucking bird one shots me. I have 1 lunar coin. I used all my coins in that run.
Ngl, afk farming lunar coins is in a really weird gray area that's both kinda cheaty and kinda grindy... Imo, if you want it grind, just play the game for lunar coins or do obliteration runs. If you want to cheat, just cheat the coins in. Lunar coins aren't really gamebreaking and really just allow you to make your runs more interesting. Another comment I read explained that lunar coins have diminishing returns and by a pretty large margin too so afk farming them is actually a waste lol

If you're playing with Command on and you have the DLC, then you can also just grab a Eulogy Zero.
The only levels which time is stopped are Gilded Coast,Bazaar between Time and the Void Fields.

Enemies still spawn, and difficulty still progresses. Enemy spawning is lowered, but you can still die to them

Certain stages stop the clock for you, so the ones I mentioned in the video all have that feature
