11. Do quests for villages. The troops you can recruit at those villages will be higher level the higher your reputation with them.
+Shrike Pretty sure in vanilla it only increases the max number that will join you at a time. But yes it's a very good idea to get a village or two really happy with you :)

No, I have had 100 relation with a village and I got was able to get 30 Swadian men at arms at a time in native.

11. Select quit without saving is a must if you would not like to rage when losing a whole army.
12. trainer skill helps with troop levelling a lot.

Yeah it's nice to see what others have as far as tips go. My biggest issue atm is that those damn sultinate empire bastards just won't die.

Another god tip are the factions and their specialities. For example the Swadian's have the best heavy cavalry, the Vaegirs have the best archers, the Rhodok's the best crossbowmen, the Khergit's the best light cavalry, the only horse archer faction (i think) and the Sarinnid Sultanate generally are quite well rounded, with good heavy cavalry and easily the second best archers, they also have heavy infantry, also use cavalry with throwing specialities. And the Nords with the best infantry. Join a faction that suits you best, whether it be heavy infantry (Nords), heavy cavalry (Swadia), archer (Vaegir), crossbowman (Rhodok), light cavalry or horse archer (Khergit) or a mix of classes (Sarinnid). I personally play with the Nords and the Swadian's because they suit my play style best. If you're looking for the best army, then join the Sarinnid's, rather than recruiting from different factions because depending who you're at war with, the morale will deplete over time and you'll lose most of your newly required troops to deserting.
Sonny Hoy Sarranids don't have heavy infantry. They can't survive charges from light cav to heavy without losing most of the frontline, throwing weapons demolish them, spears swipe them off their feet. To be honest Sarranids infantry is pretty much useless against everything other than being cannon fire in sieges, use them to suck up all of the hostile archers
Sonny Hoy sounds like a good choice. So far i have really enjoyed the 1, 2 punch of khergit and Vaegir. Vaegir knights have been working great for sieges with their 2 h weapons.

Im a newbie and so far i find the game fascinating.
For troop roles generally you want archers to shoot things, Infantry to soak enemy charges and finally Cavalry to flank and strike the enemies from the side or behind. Try and use the terrain to your advantage especially when defending, ideally you want a battleground that has both hills and flat plains close to where you start. Put your archers on the top of the hill, put the infantry on slopes in front of the archers and have the cavalry follow you. The enemy would usually try to charge their cavalry you at the start the of game so fighting on hills will slow down their speed tipping the balance towards your infantry. Whilst your infantry are fighting the enemy cavalry, try finding the enemy infantry and archers and have your cavalry charge them, ideally the enemy archers and infantry would be on the flat plains.

1:35 I'am a beginner but i don't use the shield so often except for sieges and ranged enemies i just parry every swing. Also the shield slows down your attack Speed if you're using a one handed weapon .
+Chr1sN4tion Very good points but with most situations I've found its usefulness blocking projectiles to be worthwhile. Glad you're doing well without one!
I'm a fan of using a one/two handed weapon and putting away the shield once archers are no longer a threat personally.
Sword Of War + Steel Shield combo, War Bow + Large Bodkin Arrows = best setup ever.
Do you use your shields in the back though?

@@victuz Yes, the steel shield in the back is strictly there to protect you from arrows. (Also very useful in sieges while climbing ladders)

If you get bored to fight Khergit Archers on horseback...then tell your guys to follow you on a hill and to keep close together. This way you will force them to fire all arrows without any impact. Later you can kill all in infights on a hill quickly. It is a slaughter..no fight when your guys have heavy armour.

Could I suggest a video specifically on setting the Warband up for a crusade? I just got hired for a month by the King of Swadia..i've been playing for 2 days I'm in no way ready for the 49 men in my command I'm about to committo the underworld XD

2 questions should i build up buisness prior to getting the tier 5 troops and is it better to focus on tournaments and area fights right from the begining.
and one note i love the two/1 hand long sword its great for killing horses and slaughtering enemy but still lets ypu defend with a shield when nessasary
+Brandon Wymer I'd recommend not getting tier 5 troops very often at first unless you have a reliable income... This can be from businesses but the easier way is to be a Lord. The problem with the businesses is that to make back your initial investment takes a very long time so it's not great for getting money quickly while starting out. They're more of a mid or end game tool for boosting your passive income without trying to gain more fiefs to take care of.
At the beginning, tournaments can be incredibly useful for getting money together. I recommend mostly Praven if you aren't using a tournament mod since it is always jousting and fairly easy once you're comfortable with the shitty tournament lance. Hunting bandits and doing tournaments around Swadia is my usual strategy when I first start a game.
I too like the flexibility of one/two handed weapons. The morningstar is a personal favourite since it does piercing damage with its swings. :D

You can have as much troops as you can lead...if all are mounted troops ( on horseback) then they are still quick enough.
People who dont use shield are mad, do they know what an archer spam is?
Isac Jonsson I don't use a sword and I've played for years, just move side to side, AI archers are horrible, they can't hit a moving target most of the time, neither can most online archers. They can't aim or get the right time to fire correct

@@ryanrodriguezmartinez Try to conquer a Rhodok City or Castle where Crossbow troops wait for you when you enter the inner castle. A hit from a crossbow arrow is deadly and gets through heavy armour. Even a shield will not help you..just don't enter the inner gate alone.

Hello do you know where bandits (lotters sea , raiders ect ) have the highest chance to have prisoners manhunters? Or it is random in everyplace? Once they only use blunt weapons it is a good option for a money making only amry.

Love the game recently got in to it on PS4 but I hate the first person and third person controls it constantly switches while in battle is there any way to change it or disabled it I want third person view
I go 2 hander, longbow and shield, i'll pick up a sword if I end up needing the shield

can you command troops from a distance to hold positions with the banners in the native game? saw it in bannerlord and a few mnb vids
+beynut If you mean in a 'move to that spot over there' sort of way, I don't believe so. You're pretty much limited to manuevering them a bit manually by ordering them to advance/charge and then hold when they reach where you want them.
There are mods that can add some pretty substantial functionality to the orders system though - depending on what you specifically want they may come with other enhancements that you don't want though. I recommend moddb.com and just browse to your heart's content.

If you press and hold F1 a flag appears which you can pleace anywhere
The troops will move to the Position of the flag the
beynut and if you press backspace you can order your troops in map
The map isn't very useful, though. I'd prefer the map to show topography so I can quickly order my troops into a better position. Walking uphill is very slow, so cavalry is sensitive to hills. Ranged units benefit from this if they're the ones on the hill.
How do you control your units on Console?(Xbox one if it matters) I can't see to figure it out, What am I missing?
+Nathan Dean From what I can tell, you give orders with the d-pad. However there is supposedly an option that lets you turn on voice commands as well (something not present in the PC version) so that might be interesting to try as well!

hi i just bought mount and blade warband on ps4 and i need help with something im at the first quest (i started in swadia) and im at the stage were you need to find the bandit lair to get the location of the merchant s brother but i looked around the swadian territory and i cant find it so i said fuck it and went to do other stuff but i would really like to get the money does anyone have tips that can help to find it also if anyone has tips to make money fast it would be appreciated i watched a lot of mount and blade series but i must say playing it for myself is a challenging experiance

Could be because the castles are owned by other lords, whom you can't steal troops from.
My build is only 2-handed sword and bow with 2 quivers
+Melex Krieger Is that mounted or on foot? I've been playing a lot of infantry lately and have found a shield to be pretty handy (even if just on my character's back while fighting two-handed).
I'll use a horse to move into position quickly and sort my troop locations but then get off and join them :D Can't say it's the best tactic for winning and surviving battles but I enjoy it!

Both mounted and on foot. My only weak spot is being hit by lancers without noticing it. I always use melee when lancers are following me while I am mounted. What you have said is my strategy sometimes. I can hit my enemies in single hit even high armored troops.

Iv restarted this game like 10 times, i cant seem to keep money or gear when i get defeated/slaughtered should i start over and just do bandit killing and missions for the guild traders every time i become a mercenary i get my butt handed to me and any advanced men i have slaughtered, fyi im on consol
I chose Sarranid for my first try but I got rekt by mounted bandits more than once and started over in Swadia. Joined up with them and I'm having a MUCH easier time. Swadian Cavalry is insane...

Good begginer tip wait untill you get asked to collect taxes from a main city I collected veluca taxes and got 13k to start a army with i hired mainly mercenary cavalry and hired blades to untill I had enough training lvs into my companions lv 5 on training on 2 companions gets the swadian recruits lved up to men at arms then they are good for battles and lv them selves to swadian knights once you have a good squad of knights the hired blades are good enough infantry to fight anyone you can start taking on the lords
I invest the collected taxes in an enterprise and pay my debts back. Enterprise creates income and troops just eat, upgrade and cost more money.

I need help making money. I’m a merc in Swadia and I’m constantly being attacked by large forces of 100-150 men I have about 50-60 at limit right now. Most money goes on food or getting taken by large bandit crews
Go to Nords land. There you have no mounted bandits. It is easier to trade there between Swadian and Nords. As long as there is peace.
I know this video is old, but how do you earn a lot of income from castles? I see people pulling in 5,000 denars, but I'm only pulling in 700. Please help...

castles really depend on the villages so do the towns, protect the village/villages connected to the castle, and secure the castle with troops 70-100 maxed out Rhodok Crossbowmen stop armies of 500-700 troops without them getting onto the castle wars with advanced AI and highest difficulty settings. Mods vary though on how many troops and the difficulty to defend the villages
villages bring in the income, then the castles/towns sell it off. So upgrade the villages and keep them well defended, tides of war can also affect the income, how much the villages get raided, castle gets attacked and then loses and haven to be retaken. Prosperity on the villages have an impact on the castles income, it'll all relates to the villages.
How can I sell cattle ? Or I can just sell it’s meat?
Use cattle to please villages. You will get a higher reputation and better recruits.
How do you bring up the troop commands when in a battle on a ps4

Left D-Pad and you will see a screen with Infantry, Cavalry and Archers rows to click on. Use right stick to move the mouse for giving commands. I cannot see the commands well. So i have to remember them.

Am I the only one that struggles in sword combat in multiplayer? Everyone seems faster than me and my character just doesn't swing fast enough when the enemy opens up
James Minzy go to options and make combat speed faster maybe that changes it

Its a quest
I love this game so much its so fun to get jumped by 200 dudes immediatly after struggling to get five dudes for the first begining of the game quest its so fun i spent three hours just trying to gather 5 measly villagers to do the first quest only to have count dick ass come along and fucking knock me all the way down to the bottom again. Maybe i just had a rough first impression of the game but the game seems stupidly unforgiving and shitty.
I'd rather not have a fucking brain enurism everytime i try to play this game
The Tip with the 2 shields is so bad 2 shields arent good you just cant take a bow or crossbow then and you will need it more than another shield
How to heal the character?
Best way is to wait some time in a town, that will heal the woumded in your army as well
Can someone tell me what food is intended to do?
Find Jeremus as companion. He will be the physician and heals the troop quicker. Upgrade him with Intellect and Surgery and give him a crossbow to dtay with archers in the last line.
(How to become a ruler easily) go join swadia, and get a lot of swadian recruits, and just camp around a sea raider base, and wait until some raiders leave their base, then slaughter them. Do that until you have 60 swadian knights, then go join the nords until you have 100 swadian knights, and 50 nord huscurls, then take your oath away from the nords, and make friends with all the kings (at least 20 in how much they like you.) start your kingdom at the Sarranid Sultanate(because they suck compared to what men you have.) Then you're set up. Just make sure to make companions vassals, so you will have it easier when killing off a whole faction.
Sarranid Archery is not easy to handle if you don't have Archers from Vaegir or Crossbow-Soldiers from Rhodok.
The melee combat of this game is so annoying. But way less annoying than in say, kingdom come deliverance.

310 hours of play and i still didn't know about the different damage types. Great vid but you sound abit monotone. Like your reading from a script that you're not particularly interested in.
+MrWolfHDD Productions Thanks for the feedback! I did have a list written out of points to hit for the video but not an entire script. I did end up having to re-record a lot in order to get this one cut down to be really short and sweet so maybe that was a factor. I'll have to keep that in mind for future videos! :)
